"Alright, let's work hard from now on!"
"Kyu"
When I raised my right hand and said that, Valkyrie responded as if in agreement.
Thanks to the deal with the merchant, we will now be able to steadily obtain eggs of servile beasts.
This is a huge business opportunity.
In fact, there might be no other way to earn more money in the rural farming life.
No matter what, I have to make this business succeed.
"First, I need to properly infuse the eggs of the servile beasts with magic."
As I said this, looking at the five eggs I had received from the merchant, Valkyrie approached and sniffed the eggs with her nose.
"What's wrong? I don't think you would, but you can't eat these eggs, okay?"
"Kyu-kyu!"
When I said that, Valkyrie gave me a look as if to say, "I wouldn't do such a thing," in protest.
I hurriedly apologized, saying, "Sorry, sorry," but Valkyrie's next action was unexpected.
She gently picked up one of the eggs with her mouth.
Valkyrie has a strong bite that can crush even hard shells, so I was worried that the egg might break from our playful exchange.
However, it didn't break.
Valkyrie had picked up the egg with just the right amount of force.
Then, she placed the egg on her bed of grass and lay down next to it.
The scene looked like a mother bird incubating her eggs or a mare nursing her foal.
The five eggs were nestled under Valkyrie's belly.
"Ku~"
As I wondered why she was doing this, Valkyrie started doing something else.
While lying down with her legs stretched out, she bent her neck and brought her mouth close to the eggs under her belly.
Then, she let out a cry.
Was that a spell?
But she didn't create any bricks or anything.
So, perhaps she was infusing the eggs with magic?
"Um, are you planning to raise these eggs, Valkyrie? Can you do that?"
"Kyu-i!"
Infusing eggs with magic was something I did when I hatched them last time, so it shouldn't be a problem.
However, I hadn't explained this to Valkyrie.
Perhaps she instinctively understood that servile beast eggs absorb magic to grow.
"Ah, no, that's not good. The form of the servile beast that hatches depends on the quality of the magic it absorbs. It won't mean anything if I don't raise them myself."
I was surprised by what seemed to be an innate instinct, but I quickly realized there was a problem.
It had to be me who did it.
I hurriedly retrieved the eggs from under Valkyrie's belly.
But it was already too late; she had already infused three of the eggs with magic.
What should I do?
I remember hearing that eggs can still hatch even if multiple people infuse them with magic.
However, even if a useful servile beast hatches, it would be difficult to reproduce the same conditions.
Considering this, it might be better not to interfere with the eggs Valkyrie has already infused with magic.
"Well, there's no choice. Valkyrie, I'll leave these three eggs to you. Make sure they hatch properly, okay?"
"Kyu!"
When I took the eggs, Valkyrie's head drooped as if she was disappointed.
But after some thought, I decided to give up on the eggs that had already been influenced by Valkyrie's magic.
It helped that I hadn't spent my own money on them.
If I had spent all my savings, I might have been furious, but that wasn't the case.
Besides, it's not uncommon for eggs to break accidentally before hatching.
If they fail, I'll just consider it an accident and move on.
With this in mind, I decided to divide the egg management with Valkyrie.
