"I'm hungry."

It has been a few years since I started my new life in this world.

I have now reached the age of three.

During my infancy, I had nothing to do, so I spent all my time training my magical power.

As a result, I discovered something.

It seemed that there were two types of magical power: one inside my body and one outside.

Apparently, magical power is also contained in the air.

I could take in the external magical power through my mouth and then fuse it with the magical power inside my body.

Since realizing this, I have been trying to control the fusion of the two types of magical power in my abdomen, just below my navel, and then spread it throughout my body.

Thanks to this, I can now naturally refine magical power.

However, there was one problem.

I still couldn't use magic.

It seems that the magic my mother used can only be used if you go to the "church."

When children grow to a certain age, they are taken to the church to undergo a ceremony.

After that, they can use simple life magic like lighting, igniting, and drinking water.

In other words, you can't use magic unless you go to the church.

That's why, even though I asked my parents, who can't use life magic, I couldn't learn how to use magic.

However, I couldn't give up just because of that.

I wanted to use magic as soon as possible, perhaps because I had self-awareness even when I was too small to move.

I was also extremely bored.

I kept trying to figure out how to use magic.

After I learned to speak, I would mutter random words and desperately try to see if magic would activate.

Recently, I finally started to feel a sense of accomplishment.

It was triggered by my visit to the field.

The new home I was reborn into was far from wealthy.

In fact, it could be said to be poor.

Since I was an infant, I noticed that we lived in a dilapidated house, and my birth family were farmers.

We lived in the same tattered clothes every day and made a living by growing wheat in the fields.

However, much of the crops we managed to grow were taken as taxes, so we had very little to eat.

I had never seen anyone eat until they were full.

Because I was so hungry, I left the dilapidated house and came to the field.

Unfortunately, there was nothing edible at that time.

However, I couldn't give up just because there was nothing.

I wanted to eat anything, so I decided to try growing my own crops.

I designated a corner of the field behind the house as my space.

I squatted down, placed my small hands on the ground, and closed my eyes.

I took a deep breath and then exhaled.

I tried to replace all the air in my body, focusing my mind inward while breathing deeply.

I slowly and steadily mixed the external magical power I had taken in, refining it.

I refined the magical power thoroughly below my navel and then raised it to my chest, pushing it to my head, hands, and feet.

The magical power that had been pushed to the extremities of my body then returned to my torso.

I carefully made sure the magical power flowed smoothly and steadily.

I repeated this process many times.

After how many deep breaths, I don't know, but the magical power in my torso had increased to a point where it had nowhere to go.

I then directed it to the palms of my hands, which were touching the ground.

The magical power, which was like a light, invisible gas when it existed in the air, had transformed into a sticky liquid-like substance inside my body.

However, it wasn't actually a liquid, so it didn't drip from my hands.

The magical power seeped into the soil of the field through my palms.

I spread the refined magical power throughout the soil, making sure it was fully absorbed.

Stay calm.

Don't lose your concentration here.

I told myself.

I had been able to do this much before.

The sense of accomplishment I felt with magic was this.

However, I had failed from this point onward.

I speculated that the reason for my failure was that I had lost concentration at this point.

The life magic taught in the church seemed easy to perform by just chanting a spell.

Because of this impression, I had failed by chanting random words as spells.

The magical power I had worked hard to refine and spread into the soil had quickly dissipated.

This time, I wouldn't easily chant a spell, reflecting on my past mistakes.

Imagining was just as important as refining the magical power.

In my previous life, I had helped my grandmother with field work in the countryside.

She was a part-time farmer, but she had a decent-sized field and rice paddy, and I often saw her using fertilizer.

The quality of the soil is crucial for a good field.

Soft, fluffy, slightly warm, and nutrient-rich soil.

The field I was in now was far from good soil.

In fact, I wondered if it could even be called a field for a farmer.

Perhaps they only tilled the minimum area to plant vegetables, moving large rocks out of the way.

Maybe the agricultural technology here was far behind that of the 21st century.

It's not surprising to think that way, given that there were no machines like those in the 21st century, even though there were small-scale life magic spells.

Facing the field, I recalled the field where my grandmother grew vegetables and imagined its soil.

Dark, nutrient-rich soil with a universal fertilizer that could be used for many vegetables.

Well-tilled, soft soil with all the weeds removed and ridges made for good drainage and sunlight.

I focused on this image and directed the magical power into the soil.

How much time had passed?

I couldn't tell exactly.

But I had been squatting in the field with my eyes closed for a long time, until my throat was completely dry.

When I had used up all the magical power in my body and couldn't think of anything else, I opened my eyes.

A few square meters of the field had changed.

The area had transformed into a space with three ridges of nutrient-rich soil, completely different from the rest of the ground.

This was how I successfully cast my first spell.
