"Hey!"
The peasant soldiers tried to keep their distance from me as I swung the hardened brick stick. Their faces were twisted with fear. Of course, they would be scared. It was clearly abnormal to see a child like me blowing away adults. As a result, no one dared to approach me; they just watched from a distance. That was fine with me. My goal was not just to defeat the opponent in front of me, but to win the battle. That meant I had to take down the commander. I decided to chase after the man who had fled back into the Fontana army.
"Hey, Ars, wait a bit. Don't rush in alone."
But someone stopped me. It was the part-timer who had been following behind me. He approached on a Valkyrie, swinging a stick just like me.
I assessed the situation by looking at him and the area behind him. It seemed I had rushed in too far alone. While I had successfully broken through the front lines of the Fontana army, I had lost contact with the Balga forces. This was partly because I was riding a Valkyrie, but also because of the strength of the Balga people fighting alongside me.
I had given the Balga people the Balga surname and taught them magic, but they didn't have the same power to blow away opponents as I did. Thanks to the spells [Body Reinforcement] and [Shotgun], they were individually stronger than the peasant soldiers of the Fontana army, but not overwhelmingly so.
The magic I had taught them, especially [Body Reinforcement], did indeed enhance physical abilities. However, the enhancement was only to the extent that they could lift slightly heavier objects in daily life, not to the level of superhuman strength. Even so, it seemed that the Balga people, despite being adults, were less powerful than I was as a child. This might be related to the quality of their magical power.
When I was young, I, like most people, naturally emitted a thin stream of magical power, like steam rising gently. However, I had experimented with various methods to make my magical power more potent. I had tried absorbing magical power from the air to increase my total magical power, blending the absorbed power with my own, and concentrating the blended power in my stomach to enhance the magical power I absorbed from food. I had been continuously improving both the quantity and quality of my magical power.
I suspected that others hadn't done as much to improve their magical power. They simply used the thin, naturally emitted magical power. That's why, even after I named them, some couldn't use high-level spells like [Wall Construction] or [Road Laying].
If the quality of magical power could be improved, even a child's body that hasn't fully grown could blow away adults. This suggested that a person's combat power was directly linked to the quality and quantity of their magical power. It seemed that only a few could keep up with me, even with the enhancements.
"Part-timer, Vargas, you two come with me. Father and Maddock, lead the others and follow us."
The part-timer, who was skilled in [Body Reinforcement] thanks to the magical training I had taught him, and Vargas, who had high defensive capabilities from his battlefield experience and could withstand [Shotgun] attacks, were the two who could become one-man armies. I decided to lead the charge with these two.
"Our target is the group of armored soldiers in the center of the enemy army. We're heading there."
Our target was likely a group of nobles in armor. They were formidable opponents. Just the fact that they were wearing metal armor was a threat to us, as [Shotgun] would be less effective. The magic wouldn't be able to penetrate the metal armor and deal significant damage. Moreover, the armored soldiers had a lot of magical power.
Through my eyes, I could see the magical power of each individual. Whether it was due to training or some secret, all the armored soldiers had high magical power. Naturally, they were much stronger than the peasant soldiers. However, that's why targeting them made sense. Just as I, the part-timer, and Vargas were the main forces and the psychological pillars for our side, the armored soldiers were likely the psychological pillars for the peasant soldiers in the Fontana army. If we could break them, the peasant soldiers would lose their cohesion. With this in mind, I, along with the two of them, advanced toward the center of the enemy army without paying attention to the peasant soldiers.
