Chapter 34

3 min read855 words

I have to protect the land of Fulftball in the future, so I need to be able to cull the monsters of the Never-Return Forest.

Of course, I don't mean to do all the hunting alone. Well, if I were to be greedy, it would be nice to be able to take down a medium-sized monster on my own.

My attribute is wind.

According to Grandpa, the silver-eyed people of Marquessias are fixed with the wind attribute. There are no exceptions to this; if someone with silver eyes has a different attribute, their eyes are not actually silver but a mix of silver and another color. In that case, they would have a different attribute, not wind.

That's interesting.

"Your physical training has become quite routine, and you're managing to circulate magic through your body well. It's time to start thinking about what weapon you'll use, Master Albert."

Fayvalter, with his arms crossed, said this to me after I had completed three sets of the walking course.

"Weapon?"

"Yes, a weapon. Your liege's weapon is a grave. Krieger uses a greatsword, but it's a bit oversized."

"Greatsword?"

Hmm? But the sword he had when he was here wasn't that big, was it? It felt larger and heavier than a normal sword, but it wasn't a greatsword, right?

"You can't swing that greatsword here. If you did, Master Albert's palace would be destroyed. When he was here, he used a sword similar to what the knights use."

Fayvalter says it was difficult for him to use because it wasn't the one he usually uses.

"Do all the people of the Fulftball army use large weapons?"

"No, only Krieger can swing such a greatsword. It's impressive that he can do it."

Hmm, that sounds cool. I'd like to see Krieger swing his greatsword.

Noticing that I was a bit sulky, Fayvalter asked me.

"Master Albert, do you have any preferences for a weapon you'd like to use?"

"Fayvalter, you know, I've never swung a sword before, so I don't know."

This is the reason why I declined when Queen offered for Ignatz to practice swordsmanship with me!

I've never practiced swordsmanship. Instead, I've been focusing on building my physical strength, moving my body as I wish, and circulating magic while moving. There were other things too, but I've been concentrating on these aspects more than swordsmanship.

So, it seems it's time to start practicing with a proper weapon.

Um, well, if I'm not mistaken, the one who will be training me is Fayvalter, right? I kind of knew it! I had a feeling! After all, Fayvalter smells the same as Krieger! The other gardeners who came from Fulftball are the same!

They don't have the air of gardeners or guards.

The soldiers in Fulftball's army are more like soldiers or military officers.

I think Fayvalter and the other new gardeners from Fulftball are probably specialized in combat. Their movements are different from those of amateurs.

They've created a replica of the Never-Return Forest for me, so I can get used to moving in it, since I can't go to Fulftball's territory or enter the Never-Return Forest.

After all, the traps here are different every time. Each training session has different traps, so it's impossible to memorize their positions and types to avoid them.

I have to assess and avoid the traps on the spot.

The only proper gardener in my palace is the old gardener who transferred from the royal palace. Yes, the one who tried to stop me from picking flowers in the royal garden four years ago and was stopped by my former friends.

After the incident four years ago, during the personnel reshuffle in the royal palace, the old gardener was the only one who volunteered to transfer to my palace.

According to the old gardener, there are many gardeners in the royal palace, so his absence wouldn't be a problem.

I'm grateful that the old gardener is taking care of the front garden, which is more visible to people, to hide this crazy, magically modified garden.

Fayvalter and the others don't hold back at all.

"From the way Master Albert moves, I don't think a sword is suitable. A longer weapon might be better... I think it's best to contact your liege and have him send a variety of weapons."

Yeah, yeah. You're right. Maybe I should consult with Grandpa.

Watching Fayvalter talk as if it were his own matter makes me feel a bit embarrassed.

"Once we find a suitable weapon for Master Albert, we'll have it custom-made. The blacksmiths in Fulftball are looking forward to it."

At Fulftball's level, they have their own blacksmiths. There must be some skilled blacksmiths there.

I see, they're going to make my weapon.

I can't help but feel excited.

I mean, it's inevitable! I'm a boy, and I'm at the age where I'm interested in weapons and such!!
