Chapter 66

4 min read987 words

There have been kidnapping incidents and other things, but I have safely turned 12 years old.

Next year, I'm apparently going to attend the Royal Academy, but I don't feel any excitement about school life. What I really want is to grow up quickly and go to Fulftbahr.

Is there such a thing as skipping grades? If there is, I could use that to finish my studies quickly and go to Fulftbahr, I thought. But then, Grandfather came to see me and said with a delighted look:

"Albert, you can go to Fulftbahr?"

When I heard those words, I couldn't react immediately to what was said, but gradually the content seeped into my brain...

"Yay!"

I jumped up and down in joy.

"When? When can I go?!"

But I couldn't contain my excitement!!

I don't know why sudden overnight trips are now allowed, but if I can go, then I should go!!

According to Grandfather, we can stay in Fulftbahr for about a month.

Going to Fulftbahr will be with my twin and the gardeners, a few other servants, and also with old Herrbert Klevtige, a distant relative of Markosias and one of Grandfather's right-hand men, who adopted Nebel.

Old Herrbert, who adopted Nebel, is a former count and has now passed his title to his son. Because he adopted Nebel, he has come to the capital.

I sent letters to Miss Hilt and Miss Hedda, telling them that I would be away from the Sturmwind Palace for a month, and I also greeted the Queen and the Chancellor, and informed Ignatz.

The Queen and the Chancellor smiled wryly and told me to be careful, and Ignatz looked very downcast, so I consoled him by saying I would bring back souvenirs.

What kind of souvenirs would be good? I should probably prepare some for Miss Hilt and Miss Hedda too, right?

Fulftbahr is located in the northwest of the Kingdom of Laave, and its main products are fruit trees. It also has beekeeping. The specialties are wine and mead. While they do cultivate crops, mainly wheat and potatoes, livestock is almost exclusively birds and cattle.

This is because Fulftbahr is adjacent to the Forest of No Return, and they cull the monsters that come from there to the village. Especially boars sometimes come down to human settlements, so livestock tends to be mostly cattle and birds.

The meat of the monsters culled in the Forest of No Return is distributed to the villages and towns within the territory under the leadership of the Markosias family.

I think Fulftbahr, compared to other territories, provides a relatively easy environment for commoners to obtain animal protein.

They also do beekeeping, so they make their own sweet things, like fruit preserves with honey. These could become specialties, but they haven't.

It takes about five days by carriage from the capital to Fulftbahr, or about two days if you ride fast horses without stopping. Since we are not in a hurry, we took five days to reach Fulftbahr.

"Albert!"

When we arrived at Fulftbahr Castle, Mother greeted me with a smile.

"Welcome back, Albert! I've missed you!"

"I'm back, Mother."

She hugged me tightly.

"Boys grow so fast, it's a little sad."

But she looked at me happily.

The reason I was able to come to Fulftbahr this time is that Mother and Krieger are getting married.

Mother and Krieger's wedding will be held in a temple in Fulftbahr.

Speaking of the religion of the Kingdom of Laave, the faith that has been practiced since the founding of the kingdom is the polytheistic religion called Schutz Shinto, which is similar to Shinto in Japan.

The main deities are the Sky God Himmel, the Earth God Erde, the Wind God Vint, the Water God Wasser, the Fire God Vurgan, the Moon God Moont, and there are many others. The belief that gods dwell everywhere is deeply rooted in the people of Laave.

This Schutz Shinto is not only practiced in the Kingdom of Laave but also in the surrounding countries. However, there is another religion, the Wis religion, which worships the goddess Wis as the only deity.

The Wis religion is a monotheistic religion, and its headquarters is in the Wis religion country, which has churches in various places to spread the faith.

To put it simply, the base of the Schutz Shinto is the temple, and the base of the Wis religion is the church.

The Wis religion's goal was to convert the polytheistic Schutz Shinto of the Kingdom of Laave and the surrounding countries to the monotheistic Wis religion, but in a country that has long worshiped polytheism, this did not resonate. The people of Laave simply thought, "Oh, a new god, huh," and the conversion to the Wis religion did not take hold.

The people of Laave, who believe that gods dwell everywhere, tend to worship the gods of their local areas more as you go deeper into the countryside. While the Wis religion was accepted as one of the new gods in the Kingdom of Laave and the surrounding countries, it stopped there, and the conversion of the people was difficult.

Therefore, most of the people in the Kingdom of Laave believe in Schutz Shinto, and in Fulftbahr, there are temples for the Sky God Himmel and the Earth God Erde, so they mainly worship these two deities.

Mother's wedding will be held in the temple of the Earth God Erde.

This is a remarriage for Mother, but since it is the wedding of the princess of Fulftbahr, the people of the territory accept it as a joyous celebration. In the capital of the territory where Fulftbahr Castle is located, a three-day, three-night celebration is planned.

I am looking forward to both Mother's wedding and the festival.
