Chapter 81

Now that we have permission, it's not as simple as just saying, "Let's go."

We need to make various preparations and get everything in order before heading to the Forest of No Return.

This time, the main focus is on my first battle and my first hunt, so we will be hunting in the shallows, where we can find prey.

My companions are Nebel, Hilt, Hedda, Theo, and Kurt. It seems this will be the children's first monster hunt. The instructor is Feawalter, but we are also meeting up with two more people on site. They are always hunting monsters in the Forest of No Return and are already there to scout the area.

Grandfather and Father Crique wanted to come along, but Feawalter stopped them, saying, "If the lord and Crique come, they will hunt the monsters before the young master. That's not good. This is the young master's first real battle. Please restrain yourselves. Wait for the young master to return at the castle with the ladies."

After thinking about it, Grandfather nodded and stepped back, but Father Crique was hesitant.

"But, three people are too few, aren't they?"

"…Crique. I understand your concern for the young master, but you're being overprotective."

"But, with six people including the young master, what if something happens?"

"That's why I'm letting the Schupil unit rest and bringing Peak and Tref along. The location is the shallows, and I'll be there with those two as well, so stop worrying."

"That's not what I mean."

"Give it up. If you come, the young master's first battle won't be his first battle."

"But—"

Despite his reluctance, Father Crique couldn't persuade Feawalter.

"Since you're newly married, stay with the young lady and wait quietly."

In the end, Father Crique, though dejected, gave up on accompanying us.

The day before we entered the Forest of No Return, my new voulge was completed.

When I received the news that the voulge was ready, Feawalter took me to pick it up with Nebel. As expected, Theo started throwing a tantrum, saying he wanted to come along.

I don't know, but Theo is like a troublesome little brother.

Despite this, we ended up visiting the forge. Because they had been concentrating on the work, both Harald and Svevis looked a bit worn out.

"Here, young master, is your completed voulge."

Egil brought two voulges to me.

"This one was forged by Harald."

The first one I was shown was the voulge forged by Harald.

Harald's voulge has a blade that somewhat resembles a Japanese katana, with a hook on the opposite side of the blade, which is longer than the one I've been using. The handle is made from ent wood.

"Can I try it?"

"Of course."

I took Harald's voulge and swung it around. The weight was just right, and I didn't feel the centrifugal force pulling me. After swinging it a few times, I thought it was very easy to handle.

"And this one was forged by Svevis."

Next, I was shown Svevis's voulge.

Svevis's voulge has a sharp spear-like tip at the front, with a slightly wider blade. The handle also seems to be made from ent wood.

"Please try it and see for yourself."

I took Svevis's voulge and swung it around. Hmm, it's heavier, but for some reason, it has an incredible sense of stability. The grip is also processed to be easier to hold.

While Svevis's voulge might have a stronger personality, the stability is amazing. Harald's voulge, while not as stable as Svevis's, is incredibly easy to handle.

It's hard to choose between them. Both are so well-made that I couldn't help but be greedy.

"I like both, so I'll take both."

When I said this, Svevis's mouth dropped open, and Harald also looked surprised.

"Wait, is that not allowed? Is it not okay to want both?"

"No, it's not that, but I thought only one would be chosen."

Harald answered, still surprised.

"But they're both so cool, how can I choose? It's better to take both and use them."

Yeah, I want to compare them. And depending on the monster, it might be better to switch between them.

"If the young master desires both, we have no objections. Please take both."

Egil said, and I ended up getting both. I paid for both, of course.

"You know, I've always wanted to name my weapons. Harald's voulge has a blade color like the dark indigo sky before dawn, so I'll call it 'Dawn.' Svevis's is a darker color, so I'll call it 'Twilight.' What do you think?"

Putting names on weapons might sound a bit otaku, but it makes them more endearing, doesn't it?

"Please allow us to engrave the names. We will put the names you mentioned on the mouthpieces."

Egil said and engraved 'Dawn' on Harald's voulge and 'Twilight' on Svevis's voulge.

Hehe, my weapons!!

"Maybe after a hundred years, a god will inhabit them."
