After briefly reviewing the contents of various magical studies and showing spells that could provide hints for future research, I repeated the process until, before I knew it, only healing magic remained.
Thanks to Crown's suggestion, the number of people accompanying me to the laboratory has been increasing. As a result, the number of questions during the journey has steadily grown.
"Fire requires oxygen, but how is it added...?"
"All the spells were cast without incantations, but isn't a minimum of one verse of incantation necessary due to the nature of incantations?"
"Why was it possible to break through the laboratory ceiling, which is harder than rock, using earth magic?"
I tried to answer these questions as clearly as possible, but the number of people who seemed perplexed continued to grow. It was quite a dilemma.
Before I knew it, we had arrived at the healing magic laboratory. The laboratory itself was not much different from the others, but the building was more than twice as large.
"Healing mages outnumber mages of other attributes by more than three times. While this is partly to respond to requests from other countries, it also means that some do not meet the required standards as court mages," Crown said with a sense of regret before heading into the laboratory. As usual, he opened the door without hesitation.
The other researchers seemed slightly exasperated by this. It seems that suddenly opening the door is considered impolite here as well. Perhaps Crown is just an exception.
"Ah, just as the Head Mage was..."
Crown began to murmur but then fell silent as he opened the door.
A man with a stern expression appeared from inside the laboratory. Crown took a step or two back as the man came out.
He was a man with sharp eyes and silver hair, appearing to be in his forties. Despite a somewhat weary air, he exuded a presence that was almost intimidating.
"Are you Aoi Konomina? I am Auard Smuggler, the Head Mage of the court and the current recognized Saint."
"I'm Auard, nice to meet you. I'm Aoi, and I teach at Fidic Academy."
In response to the greeting, Auard continued to observe me with a furrowed brow.
"You are quite young. According to what I heard from Balbrea, you can use healing magic on par with a Saint. I wonder where you learned such healing magic outside of Mapleleaf. It's quite mysterious."
He spoke in a normal conversational tone, but it was unclear whether he was addressing me or just thinking out loud. He had a unique speaking rhythm.
At Auard's words, the other researchers who had followed behind us gasped in surprise.
"Can she really use healing magic...?"
"Impossible. That would mean she can use all five attributes of magic at an advanced level..."
Hearing this, Auard's frown deepened.
"Five attributes of magic? Is that even possible? No, but it's unlikely that the researchers in the laboratory would make a mistake. How... Ah, I see, using national treasure-level magical tools... But can one person really possess five such valuable magical tools? Hmm. I would like to see each of your spells."
"Huh? Oh, sure, no problem."
Thinking he was talking to himself, I was surprised when he suddenly addressed me. I nodded, and Auard's eyebrows raised slightly for a moment before he furrowed his brow again.
"I've heard that you can manipulate quite advanced magic, but is it really okay to show it so easily to others? I'm a bit worried, even though it's not my business. However, I would be grateful if you could show me, so I would like to request that. But first, I must see your healing magic."
After speaking unilaterally, Auard fell silent.
"Then, I'll demonstrate healing magic."
"Thank you."
Despite his unique rhythm, the conversation was not problematic. In fact, it felt surprisingly easy to talk to him.
"Please follow me."
"Sure, I will."
When Auard turned and gestured for me to follow him into the laboratory, I nodded and agreed. Again, surprised voices came from behind.
"Seems like the Head Mage gets along well with you."
"Is Aoi also a special character?"
"I've heard that people who delve deep into magic are often unusual..."
I heard some slightly concerning comments, but I decided not to bother denying them. Owen and Glen have their quirks, but I consider myself quite normal. Misunderstandings will be cleared up eventually.
Following Auard into the laboratory, I saw five men and women inside. The bookshelves lining the walls, packed with books, were eye-catching, but what surprised me most was the skeleton lying on the table.
"Is that a skeletal model?"
Surprised, I looked down at the skeleton on the table. It was very well-made, but it didn't look like wood, clay, or plaster.
Auard shook his head expressionlessly.
"No, it's a regular human skeleton. We tried making models, but the real thing is better for understanding the internal structure and functions of the body."
I nodded in agreement with Auard.
"Indeed, that makes sense. To understand the human body, it's best to start with the bones. It's logical."
As I nodded and agreed, everyone's gaze suddenly turned to me.
