Chapter 10

6 min read1,523 words

Note: This time, I tried changing the perspective in more detail. If there are any issues, please let me know in the comments. If there are no problems, I would like to use this writing style when there are many characters.

----Kousuke Arakawa's Perspective----

I sit in my assigned seat in the venue, guided by the older sister. But those big breasts... I tried to walk diagonally behind her so that her chest would be in the corner of my vision without her noticing. This way, from her perspective, I appear to be walking beside her and looking forward, so I recommend trying it if you want to sneak a peek at her chest. I won't take responsibility if you get caught, though...

Well, the ceremony is about to start. My college life is about to begin, but there aren't many people around. The seats are supposed to be divided by class, but there are only 15 people around me. Other classes have about 40 people, so why is this? And there are only three guys, one of whom has been laughing "Fuh! Fuhuhu!" since the beginning... That guy is trouble. I can tell he's someone I can't get involved with. The only other noticeable person is a girl with long hair sitting in the front row. I can only see her profile from here, but she looks really cute. The rest are just ordinary...

This isn't a game world or anything, so there's no way there's a girl with pink hair or a girl with a tail and animal ears. Well, reality is like this, I guess. I wish I could be reincarnated into a different world and use cheats to create a harem...

Ah, if you think about it, this place is technically a different world since the history is different from mine. While I'm lost in these trivial thoughts, the MC says,

"Next, we have the welcoming speech by the representative of the new students. The representative of the special class... Emi Soga."

Huh, there's a special class? Impressive, this is a world-renowned academy, after all. As I'm oddly interested, the girl with long hair I noticed earlier stands up. What... She's standing up?

This is the special class!?

Why, hey, why am I in the special class? I'm panicking on my own when I see Ms. Soga on the stage. Ah, she's really cute. No! That's not the point. I'll go to the principal's office after this and try to change to a regular class. This is clearly not a class I should be in.

Hmm? Ms. Soga is looking at me. Why is she looking at me? Wait, she's glaring at me. Did I do something? This is too much... I want to go home.

----Emi Soga's Perspective----

Introduced by the vice-principal, I ascend the stage. As I give my speech and look at the students, my eyes land on a male student. "Kousuke Arakawa"... The son of the genius "Miki Arakawa." He was admitted to this academy without taking the entrance exam. All the other students took the exam and were admitted based on their qualifications, but he didn't. He's only here because his mother is a genius. He might have some academic ability since he is Miki Arakawa's son.

But what if he doesn't? I can't stand the idea of an ordinary person being in this academy, especially in the special class!! If he doesn't have any special talent, I'll kick him out of this academy immediately! I'll talk to him after the ceremony and make it clear. Thinking this, I end up glaring at him...

----Kousuke Arakawa's Perspective----

The ceremony is over, and I enter my classroom and take my seat. Phew, there's a seating chart on the wall... The only problem is that the guy who was laughing "Fuh!" earlier, Saito, is sitting next to me. But he took out his terminal and started reading a book as soon as he sat down, so it's not a problem. There's always one guy like this in a class. There are no delinquents in this academy, so I won't be bullied. I was spacing out when a familiar voice suddenly spoke to me.

"Arakawa-kun, can I talk to you for a moment?"

I turn to see Ms. Soga. What's up? She was glaring at me earlier, but I haven't done anything yet, right? I mean, I did think about getting to know her a bit, but that's okay, right?

"What's up?"

I respond, and she starts talking rapidly.

"Arakawa-kun, you might be special because you're Miki Arakawa's son, but this is the International Technical Academy, and this is the special class. Understand? Everyone here is special! It's not just you who's great, okay? And you didn't even take the entrance exam, right? I've heard rumors, but I don't want to hear your excuses.

All the other students took the exam to get here! Do you really have the ability to be here? There's a test next week, and I expect you to be in the top 10 of the year. If you don't, I'll ask you to leave the academy. That's it."

What the... She just said all that and left, satisfied with herself? This is the first time I've seen a real hysterical person... Ms. Soga and my mom, geniuses are really weird. And there's no way I can be in the top 10 of the year in this academy... What should I do? Will I have to leave the academy?

I was feeling anxious, but then I thought, "Who cares!" It's not like a regular student can decide another student's future. Why do I have to be glared at and told all this? I might snap eventually, no matter how calm I am.

I won't say it to her, though... I'm a gentleman. It's not because I'm scared of her, I'm a gentleman!

I was lost in thought when the homeroom ended and we were dismissed. Ah, it's over by noon on the first day. I'm so tired, I want to go home, but I'll eat in the cafeteria first. This is a good chance to make friends. Who should I ask? After being scolded by Ms. Soga, will anyone eat with me?

I look ahead... Everyone avoids my gaze.

I look to the right... Everyone avoids my gaze.

I look behind... There's only a locker and a wall.

I look to the left... I make eye contact with Saito.

Saito is looking at me!

----Shingo Saito's Perspective----

Arakawa-kun is kind... He's eating lunch with someone like me. I don't know what to talk about, so I share some animal trivia I picked up from the giant bulletin board I always look at on my terminal. I thought he would just laugh it off and that would be it, but he responded with interest.

"Really? Pigeons really get confused and can't move when they're upside down!?"

He was really engaged. When I got carried away and shared more trivia,

"Liar! How do you know all polar bears are left-handed!?"

He gave me such a fun reaction. When we finished eating and were about to leave, Arakawa-kun asked for my email address and phone number. I was so happy, I felt like I was floating. I've finally made a friend... I'm glad I came to this academy where there are no delinquents, even though I was afraid of being bullied!

There was a strange girl named Soga who was bothering Arakawa-kun, but I think she's an exception. If it gets too much, I'll post about it on the bulletin board. But tonight, I'll email Arakawa-kun some URLs to websites with lots of interesting trivia. I walked home with a light step for the first time in my life, thinking about all this.

----Kousuke Arakawa's Perspective----

Wow, Saito is a really nice guy! He taught me a lot of trivia I didn't know. Sorry, I judged him as a weirdo at first. Let's eat lunch together again tomorrow. When I got home and told my mom,

"I made a friend!"

She smiled and said, "That's great!"

So, I made my first friend. I got a message from Saito before I went to bed. It contained about 20 URLs to websites with lots of trivia. I was about to fall asleep while looking at them when I remembered...

Ah, I forgot to ask for a class change. Oh well... I have Saito, so it's fine.

March 1, editing complete.

This is a continuation of the preface. Since this is a genre of misunderstanding, I had to write in detail about the psychological state of the characters. To do this, I used the technique of changing perspectives. However, when there are many characters, it can be difficult to understand the situation if one person's story is too long, so I tried to make the perspective changes more detailed.

In response to the comments, I have revised some parts that were considered cold. I have also started activity reports, which can be viewed on the author's page. I have written responses to those who provided feedback in the comments.
