Amidst the rooster's crow, I woke up with the dawn. Checking the clock, it was just past half past five.
I feel like I'm getting healthier day by day.
Oh, right. I experienced using a toilet in a house for the first time, and it was a Western-style one.
To be honest, with my potbelly, I would have tipped over backward if it were a squat toilet.
It was not made of porcelain but had a hole at the bottom of a stone that had been hollowed out and polished, leading to a bucket for collection.
The seat part was a wooden U-shaped board.
There was no toilet paper, but I cleaned myself with water from a bucket and wiped with a cloth, which each person had to wash.
The water in the bucket had to be fetched each time.
After use, I dropped some wheat straw into the hole to promote fermentation and prevent odors.
I really want to thank the person who developed this.
Regarding laundry, they used the fruit of the Japanese pepper tree.
Like the pepper from yesterday, I have no idea about the local flora.
When I asked Teisha, she said both could be gathered in the southern forest. The herbs from yesterday were also from the southern forest.
Apparently, the diverse flora is nurtured by the blessing of the god of plants.
It's real that the gods have an influence here. The other world is truly formidable.
Also, I felt like it was definitely a gardening game vibe.
I heard this story while having breakfast.
For breakfast, it was rye bread, or rather, it was a rye bread with a strong sour flavor, so I ate it with lard spread on it.
There was also white sausage and pickled cabbage.
The smoked sausage is apparently for sale, and it's not sauerkraut because it doesn't contain any spices.
I might look for caraway and dill in the southern forest next time. I haven't seen them growing, but I can check the encyclopedia on my smartphone.
In any case, it felt like a German menu from the start.
When I mentioned that I wanted to look for a job, there was one. The Adventurer's Guild. Typical of another world.
However, it wasn't just about monster hunting; it seemed more like a general odd-job service, similar to a job center.
This is because, as in the Middle Ages, there are guilds for each profession, and the Adventurer's Guild fills the gaps.
For example, there is a guild of pharmacists that handles the production and sale of medicines.
However, they outsource the collection of materials to the Adventurer's Guild.
Mercenary guilds provide protection for large caravans and nobles, but small caravans and personal protection are handled by the Adventurer's Guild.
Monsters do exist, and because various items are made from their materials, they also accept monster hunting requests.
"Well, since there's still time before the guild opens, I'll make a to-do list."
Maybe it's because of my profession, but I can't feel at ease without making a list.
"First, to get out of being a houseguest, I need to secure enough funds to stay at an inn."
[ ] Confirm currency value
[ ] Check inn rates
[ ] Check the difficulty and reward amounts of various requests
"To make the best use of the 'Acquisition' teacher, I want to actively take on monster hunting requests. I can't protect Rizathia if I'm not strong."
[ ] Prioritize accepting monster hunting requests
[ ] Improve the efficiency of skill transfer through 'Acquisition'
"Since I have the 'Recognition' teacher, I might have an advantage in gathering. I'll actively take on gathering requests."
[ ] Check gathering requests
[ ] Confirm methods for finding gathering targets
[ ] Improve the efficiency of gathering through 'Recognition'
For now, I'll set these 8 points as my goals for today.
While registering them in the to-do list app on my smartphone, I sensed someone at the front door.
Is Ast going out hunting? I'll go see him off.
"Ast, are you going out?"
"Yeah. I plan to set traps and hunt small game. Don't worry about Rizathia."
"Is your back okay?"
"It's almost fully healed from yesterday. Moving around isn't a problem anymore."
Ast smiled, shouldered his gear, and waved.
"Akihiro, I'm off. Don't overdo it."
Rizathia looked at me with a worried face.
"I'm just going to check things out first. Don't worry."
I smiled back and waved.
Watching the two of them leave, I checked the clock; it was 7:30.
Since the guild will open soon, I started getting ready.
For clothing, I will borrow and adjust the clothes of Rizathia's brother.
It's a bit sad that the adjustments were only around the waist and the hem of the pants.
Miraculously, the suit wasn't splattered with blood.
However, the cuffs of the dress shirt were spattered, so I washed them thoroughly.
Well, let's get ready and work hard today.
