At the front of the guild, Fia and I part ways.
She waves her hand vigorously, saying goodbye.
“You’re such a lively kid.”
“That’s my only strength.”
Riz smiles a bit wearily.
Since she had some business at the church, we part ways here as well.
“Business at the church?”
“Maybe it’s gratitude for being connected with Riz?”
“Silly...”
Blushing slightly, she glares up at me and utters a cute curse.
After parting ways, I head to the church.
I pass through the stone-walled door and enter the building. I nod to the woman and walk up to the altar.
I place the spear and scythe in front of me, kneel down, raise my hands, close my eyes, and greet the healing god.
At that moment,
<Notice. A serious error has occurred. An unknown system has connected. Counter system is...>
I thought Mr. 'Identifier' was speaking in the same flustered tone as before, but then there was a click and silence.
“To go out of your way to come here. A prayer would have been fine, you know?”
A woman in her thirties, dressed in a black evening gown, was sitting elegantly in the space before me.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Akihiro.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Dicia. Welcome, guest.”
She murmurs lazily. She has a beautiful face, but the dark circles under her eyes ruin it.
Her skin is pale, and there’s a sickly bluish tinge to it.
“I’m sorry for my appearance. Work has been busy.”
She lets out a small sigh and murmurs.
“A message came from Alecta. Everything is prepared. Let’s get started.”
Dicia places her hand on my head. I feel a faint warmth, just like before.
“This is fine. I’ll temporarily pause the pain property. Try cutting your left arm. Make it a rough cut.”
I take the scythe in front of me and cut my left arm. Even though there’s no pain, it’s a deep wound that exposes the bone. My body shivers with fear.
“You should be able to imagine the wound healing, right? Imagine it strongly and simulate it.”
Suppressing the fear of the wound and the discomfort of the screen display, I strongly imagine the healing process. In my mental simulation, it’s perfect. The wound is healed.
“Execute.”
The wound glows faintly and heals rapidly.
“That’s what’s generally called divine magic.”
She murmurs with a faint smile.
“Most people are somewhat good at imagining the healing of external injuries, but they’re not good with internal injuries. The images sent are often too vague, and it often doesn’t work in time.”
She looks a bit sad.
“Your imagination needs almost no correction. However, whether you can calmly imagine it when you’re actually injured is another matter.”
“Does divine magic have a syntax?”
“Yes. For example, just now, you held the image of the wound healing, attribute god. Activation time within one minute. Symptom: left arm laceration. Cause: blade. Execute.”
“It’s quite simple.”
“It’s not often requested. From a vast log, the relevant symptoms are searched for, compared with normal backup data, and the specified abnormal part is fixed. It’s a lot of work...”
She looks quite exhausted.
“I’m sorry to trouble you during your busy time.”
“You called me, guest. I’m happy to come.”
She smiles weakly.
“But, to be able to connect to the emulator on your own, you’re impressive, Earth. The precision of the simulator and the derived syntax need almost no correction.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you troubled?”
She looks into my eyes and asks.
“I’m overwhelmed by the vast content. More than anything, I find this power frightening.”
Yes, it’s like always carrying a gun.
“Silly... Weapons reflect the will of the user. A knife can kill too.”
That’s an extreme view.
“I’m afraid of the impact my knowledge can have on the world.”
“That’s why the regulations for magic are updated. If the impact is too strong, they are revised.”
She smiles faintly.
“You’re kind. And weak. But everyone loves you. Have you heard the theme of this planet?”
“‘To make living beings as happy as possible’?”
“Yes. I wanted to create a simple, kind, and happy world. But it’s very difficult.”
She looks as if she’s regretting something.
“Talking about the same species is a compromise... Our love is for all living beings. But such a paradise doesn’t exist.”
“I struggled and searched for paradise on Earth too.”
“Huhuhu. Complaining. After finally meeting you, guest.”
Dicia suddenly narrows her eyes.
“If there’s anything, forget about simulations and syntax. Shout. With your heart, with your soul. Then it will be heard.”
She smiles again.
“Since we’ve met, I wanted to hear about Earth, but I have to go back now.”
“It’s an honor to meet you.”
“I hope we meet again when you’re more relaxed.”
As soon as the greeting ends, Dicia disappears, and the world starts moving.
There’s a click in my head again.
<Notice. Reconnection confirmed. Serious error has been recovered. Checking connection logs of unknown system. ...Check complete. Unknown system is not connected. Normal operation confirmed.>
It’s the usual Mr. 'Identifier'.
<Skill ‘Acquisition’ notice. Conditions for Skill ‘Acquisition’ have been met. ‘Attribute Control (God)’ 1.00. Relevant skill has been integrated.>
And then Mr. 'Acquisition'.
Now I have the power to heal if Riz or my companions get hurt. But, I didn’t expect to see such an exhausted god, probably because of the continuous work with a relaxed god.
Managing is tough. I leave the church, remembering the work I used to do on Earth.
Well, I need to practice with Riz’s shield.
