Chapter 2

Under the swirling dark clouds, monstrous beings scattered chaotically across the ground and sky. The only thing they had in common was that their eyes were fixed on and their ears were attuned to the black-armored man floating in the air, who seemed to be their master.

On one side, knights stood in perfect formation. In the sky, the figure of a dragon knight squad centered around a knight in armor predominantly white and blue, riding a Pegasus, was visible. The difference in armor styles indicated that they were not from a single country. The knights' attention was also focused on the black-armored man floating in mid-air.

"Stop holding back! This is a battle drenched in blood and desire! Mercy is unnecessary, pity is useless! Do not fear death! Never hesitate!"

As the black-armored man, accompanied by a white and a black beast, raised his voice, a thunderous roar erupted from the monstrous beings.

"Ravage them!"

At the man's command, the monstrous beings and the knights moved like a mountain tsunami, all heading towards the players. This was a specially created event space in a VRMMO, the first day of a large-scale battle.

"Destroy them all!"

A massive sword of light was swung down at the players' formation, causing the front line to collapse dramatically before the monstrous beings and the knights could reach it. The ground where the light struck was gouged out, and the players in that area were obliterated. The row of shield bearers in the front also suffered significant damage, and the gap in their defense allowed the ground-based creatures to surge through.

"Ha-ha-ha!"

The man laughed alone in the air.

While observing the mixed forces, he sent a chat message to his friends.

Homura: Is this how the villain should act?

Petro: Looks good to me.

Shin: Don't ask!

Ochazuke: It's a mess in an instant. Please go easy on them.

Homura: No can do.

Kikuhime: At least give us all the knights!

Homura: No can do.

Petro: In that scene, it's usually knights vs. demons, right? w

Reo: Hahaha!

The black-armored man, with his cape fluttering and accompanied by knights and a hundred demons, was also a player. This story is about Homura, or Rengard as he is also called, who stands before the majority of other players, becoming known as an unbeatable event boss or a revered support character.

--- However, his true nature is rather disappointing.

It will be a while before he reaches this point. For the most part, he progresses at a leisurely pace.
