Starting today, "Chapter 2: Academy Enrollment"!
Thank you very much for your support!
A few days after Schna became my official servant, Zeros Sylphid, we decided to tackle several dungeons before heading to the capital.
First, we aimed to acquire as many inheritance skills as possible while we still had the chance.
Our first destination was the E-Rank Dungeon "Ancient Magic Tower," recommended for Level 30 players.
The dungeon boss was a Level 30 Stone Golem.
It excelled in destructive power and durability but moved very slowly.
By defeating this monster solo and without taking any damage, we could obtain the magic skill "Magic Ball."
As the conditions suggest, the difficulty was not particularly high.
Not only did I, who could use a critical slash, find it easy, but Schna, who could cast high-damage spells, also found it a perfect match.
We were able to clear it without much trouble and obtained "Magic Ball."
The next day, we headed to the F-Rank Dungeon "Flying Birds' Descent," which I had cleared once before.
The purpose was, of course, to teach Schna the skill "Magic Arrow."
There was a reason we tackled the "Ancient Magic Tower" first.
In "Flying Birds' Descent," you could obtain a skill by defeating a large number of bird-type monsters flying overhead, but there was a significant issue for Schna.
It was the MP problem.
With only "Magic Missile" available, even though her firepower was sufficient, her magic power would quickly run out.
That's why we first obtained "Magic Ball," which could be cast with lower MP consumption.
Thanks to this, Schna was able to clear the trial on her first attempt.
With this, I obtained "Magic Arrow" and "Magic Ball," while Schna, in addition to "Magic Missile," acquired the three basic magic skills.
Now we could defeat low-level enemies with low MP consumption.
This is a summary of the past two days.
Incidentally, since we only defeated lower-level monsters, the experience points we gained were low, and unfortunately, our levels did not increase.
Both mine and Schna's levels remained at 39.
(Schna will have to wait for another day to acquire her next growth skill...)
On the way back to the mansion after clearing "Flying Birds' Descent," Schna brought up a topic while I was thinking about these things.
"By the way, it was more difficult to obtain Magic Arrow than the high-damage Magic Ball. I had to drink several potions to barely defeat them..."
This was a topic about the difference between "Ancient Magic Tower" (recommended for Level 30) and "Flying Birds' Descent" (recommended for Level 16).
In response to her question, I immediately provided an answer.
"‘Flying Birds' Descent’ has a lower recommended level, so that's why."
"Huh? Wouldn't it usually be the opposite?"
Seeing Schna tilt her head, her bright red hair swaying, I thought about how to explain it.
Here's the thing.
I decided to reflect a bit on the system of "Crest Online."
In "Cleon," at the start of the game, you can choose one of several starting points and begin your journey.
Initially, you would visit the inheritance shrines around your chosen starting point to acquire skills.
However, what if there was only one shrine for a particular skill?
Depending on the starting point chosen, players might be delayed in acquiring essential skills, which could significantly impact their progress.
However, this was not a concern in reality.
This is because there are multiple inheritance shrines for each skill scattered around the world.
For example, to obtain "Parry," you could either solo-clear the "New Recruit Training Ground" at Level 10 or simply clear a different dungeon recommended for Level 30.
Generally, the lower the level, the more complex the gimmicks and the higher the difficulty. This system, which emphasizes player skill, is characteristic of "Cleon."
Players with confidence in their abilities can take on higher risks and acquire numerous skills at lower levels.
That said, there are many dungeons like the "Ancient Magic Tower," where you can easily inherit skills by simply leveling up.
The fact that leveling up can sufficiently cover the difficulty is also one of the reasons why "Cleon" was loved by many.
So, I explained this system to Schna, omitting the details of "Cleon" for simplicity.
Schna listened to the end and opened her eyes and mouth in amazement.
"To know all that... You really are amazing, Zeros!"
In the twilight, her innocent smile sparkled.
"Chapter 2: Academy Enrollment" begins!
This time, I covered the days leading up to our departure from the Sylphid territory and addressed the frequently asked question about the difficulty of inheritance skills.
I plan to gradually reveal more information and settings in Chapter 2, so please look forward to it!
