Chapter 43 of 100

Chapter 43

5 min read1,130 words

Inside the dungeon, monsters are gathered.

Even this is the lowest-level dungeon.

It’s no problem for me, but the other students’ faces were quite tense.

The barrier bracelet is operating as usual today, so even if they are attacked, they won’t take damage from Rank G or Rank F monsters.

And since I have a decent repertoire of wide-area extermination magic, it’s possible for me to exterminate all the monsters and reach the boss room in a short time if I fight alone.

That’s probably why Mr. Bloom keeps reminding me not to overdo it.

"Left to Class A, right to Class B, center to Class C, start the battle!"

Following my instructions, each party begins the battle.

Class A is Room, Histo, and Alice’s party.

Class B is Brigitte, Reinicia, and Hook’s party.

And Class C is my party with Carla and Peron. Since it’s troublesome to call out each person’s name and give instructions, I’ve made sure to clarify each person’s role beforehand and give instructions on a party-by-party basis.

It’s probably like a three-man cell in the military?

I wasn’t a military otaku in my previous life, so I’m not sure if that’s the correct term.

The basic strategy for each party is to first restrain the monsters and then beat them up. If the initial restraint fails, the second person uses a wall-type spell to block the monster while dealing with it and exterminating it.

If we had overwhelming attack power, we wouldn’t need to restrain or use wall-type spells, but since that’s not the case for anyone except me, we take a step-by-step approach in battle.

Well, it’s just a review of what we’ve done in the practical training so far, so we’re not doing anything particularly unusual.

"Class C, extermination complete! Two of you support Class A, I’ll support Class B!"

"Understood."

As the battle progresses, Brigitte from Class B is expanding the effect range of her Dark Bind, which has a dark attribute.

The difference is slight, so she and her party members might not have noticed, but the effect range is definitely getting wider.

Room from Class A’s range hasn’t changed, but she’s making fewer mistakes and is more reliably restraining the monsters, so her performance is stable.

All eight of the others are using magic, and many of them are holding commercially available magic books.

These magic books have magic arrays written on parchment, which dissipate when the magic is activated.

Therefore, if you keep using them, the stock of magic arrays will run out, and they won’t be effective in battle, so they need to be replenished.

A single magic book contains multiple sheets of parchment with the same magic array.

Many mages hold a magic book in their left hand and a wand in their right.

"Class A and Class C, start skinning. Class B, be on alert!"

"Got it!"

Following my instructions, everyone moves efficiently.

I perform the skinning for Class C.

I stab a Damascus steel knife into the belly of a Black Rabbit and rip it open.

Organs and blood come out, but it’s a familiar sight.

The smell of rusted iron permeates the air, but I discard the unnecessary head and organs and take the well-fattened side meat, fur, and magic crystal.

Everyone’s bags are getting full.

The girls are struggling to carry their bulging bags, so we decided to discard the fur, which has a low selling price.

If we can get this many skinnable items just from the first floor, we need to think of a strategy.

How much time has passed since we entered the dungeon? When everyone’s faces started showing signs of fatigue, we arrived at a door that seemed to be the boss room.

"This seems to be the boss room. The other two groups haven’t arrived yet, so let’s take a 15-minute break before entering. Does anyone want cold water?"

I use Watering to produce cold water and distribute it to those who want it.

"Thinking about it, this water is cold and delicious. Maybe I should buy some."

So, this is also a way to promote magic items.

Hmm... okay.

"Most of the items handled by the Bruto Trading Company are discounted if you buy a certain amount, so it’s more cost-effective if multiple people buy together."

"Oh, right! It’s cheaper to buy together than individually!"

Lily from the baron’s family is asking other students if they want to buy together.

Most of the other students, except for Carla, are from the commoner class, but they seem relatively well-off, and many are following Lily’s suggestion.

...Maybe I should create a student discount system.

"Let’s enter the boss room now. Please do a final check. Is everyone’s mana okay?... According to the data, there are two Black Rabbits and one War Rabbit in the boss room. Class C will handle the War Rabbit, and Class A and Class B will handle the other Black Rabbits."

After 15 minutes, we’re about to enter the boss room, so I check everyone’s mana and assign roles.

All the parties have been repeating battles up to this point, so their faces seem more focused compared to when we first entered the dungeon.

"Let’s go!"

I open the door and lead the way into the boss room.

"Be on alert! Spread out quickly!"

The basic formation is Class A on the left, Class B on the right, and Class C in the center, so we can spread out smoothly.

Everyone except me is holding a wand, and most students are carrying magic books.

"Start the attack!"

Each party casts magic on the monsters they are assigned to.

After seeing this, I also cast a spell and effortlessly restrain the War Rabbit with Dark Bind.

We restrain and beat them up as usual, so the extermination is completed without much trouble, and we finish the skinning.

The only monsters that appeared on this first floor were Black Rabbits (minions) and a War Rabbit (minion boss).

The Black Rabbits’ only attack methods are body slams and bites with their sharp front teeth, so once they are restrained with bind spells, they are easy to deal with.

The War Rabbit is stronger and faster than the Black Rabbits, but like the Black Rabbits, it only uses close-range attacks, so the basic strategy is the same.

The number of monsters that appear at once is high, so it might be tough at first, but once you get used to it, they’re not that difficult.

This time, the other parties have become a bit more accustomed to battle, and their abilities have improved slightly from actually hunting monsters, so if they don’t get complacent, it shouldn’t take too long to clear the first five floors of this beginner dungeon.
