"Being able to move on my own feet is the best."
After finishing breakfast, I walked around the mansion with light steps.
Usually, we have two meals a day—lunch and dinner—but my sister Elinora and I often go into the kitchen to get bread and leftovers.
It's not good for a child to only have two meals a day; it's not enough nutrition. Elinora, my sister, probably burns a lot of energy because she moves around a lot. But that's a different story.
"Still, when I couldn't walk, everything was so inconvenient and troublesome."
I mused with a deep sigh. As a baby, it was a struggle just to grab a single book.
Thanks to that, I was considered a strange child.
Today, I want to continue reading a book.
When I entered the study, my older brother Silvio was there.
Elinora is nine years old.
Silvio is six years old.
I am three years old.
Do my parents plan it so neatly?
No, but even though I'm three, I don't have any younger siblings. Well, I think two or three children is just right.
Silvio is sitting in a chair, reading a book.
Silvio looks a lot like our Nord father—blonde hair and blue eyes. His personality is rather gentle, and he has a very handsome face. He will definitely be a heartbreaker in the future.
In contrast to Elinora, who is interested in swords, Silvio is interested in books and studies.
They seem to have ended up being complete opposites.
Well, I think it might be because of Elinora.
She beats up Silvio so much.
Elinora loves swords and aims to become a knight.
In this era, where men are highly regarded and women are not, it seems difficult for a woman to become a knight, but Elinora apparently has great talent with swords.
Our father, Nord, apparently wanted her to gain a good education and be involved in internal affairs, but because of her seriousness and talent with swords, he now teaches her swordsmanship.
As for me, I am supposed to be interested in magic.
Now, my mother Elna teaches me occasionally.
"Al, are you reading a book too?"
"Yeah, there are many parts I can't read, but it's interesting."
"Really? Al, you're good with words, so you should be able to read. If you don't understand something, just ask me."
With a wry smile, Silvio returned his gaze to the book. Is he really six years old?
Silvio is different from Elinora; he is quiet and kind.
He doesn't hit me.
---
After lunch, I head to the forest to practice magic. The purpose is to practice magic.
Apparently, there are monsters in this world, but they don't come to Coriat Village.
Plus, my father and the vigilantes frequently thin them out, so it's safe.
I thought they would appear like in a game, but if they appeared so often in such a rural area, humans would be wiped out.
However, in areas with high magical energy or specific forests, monsters are said to swarm. It's too dangerous.
---
Alright, I've arrived. I won't go deep into the forest because there are monsters, and I'll get scolded if I do.
So, I've modified a slightly open area near the entrance to be like a secret base.
I've cut down obstructive trees, used earth magic to create a table and chairs, and built a simple house and a target.
As a boy, having your own space—a secret base—was something to dream about, right? A comfortable place where no one knows. I used to make them a lot when I was younger.
Today, I want to try spatial magic. Until now, I've been focusing on increasing my magical power because I didn't have enough, and I was absorbed in other types of magic, so I haven't tried it. But with my current magical power, I should be able to do it easily.
I don't know the exact amount of magical power, but it has increased five times since I was one year old. If I can't do it now, it would be a problem with my efficiency.
Alright, first, I need to imagine the place I want to teleport to. Since it's my first time, I'll start with a short distance.
I want to teleport a pebble from the hut I'm in to the table outside.
Not me, just a pebble. Teleporting a human right away would be too difficult. I'll start with something that won't cause problems if I fail.
I pour several times more magical power into the pebble in my hand, and it is enveloped in a blue light.
Then, I focus on the table and say,
"Teleport!"
As I speak, the pebble in my hand disappears.
Clunk, roll.
The pebble appears from the void in front of me and rolls onto the table. The time lag is almost imperceptible.
Suppressing my excitement, I gather more pebbles, twigs, leaves, and sand, and start teleporting them onto the table and chairs.
"Wow! Amazing! Just as I thought, God is great!"
Amazing! There's still a bit of inaccuracy, but I can really teleport objects! With this power, I don't need to clean up or carry things! And I can counterattack Elinora without her noticing! This is incredible!
Reflecting on myself, the first thing that came to mind was this. Is it peaceful or am I just a fool?
Yeah, I remember. I can also make money by transporting things. I'll keep that in mind for a more leisurely life!
Alright, next is research. What are the rules?
I felt that the amount of magical power consumed was different between pebbles and leaves.
This time, I'll hold a large, heavy stone that I can barely carry with both hands.
Grunting, it's heavy!
"Magic Armor!"
Phew, the stone was heavy for a three-year-old, so I wrapped myself in magical power to strengthen myself.
But even this will cause muscle pain if done for too long, so it's tough for a three-year-old, but I can manage for a short time.
"Teleport!"
Thud.
Alright, success. I paid careful attention to teleport it slowly onto the table.
The ultimate goal is to teleport it as if it had always been there, gently and softly.
Next, a small, light leaf. The opposite condition from the stone. If my theory is correct...
"Teleport!"
The leaf falls from the void, as if it had just fallen from a tree.
Damn, I wanted it to land smoothly on the table...
But, as I suspected.
I learned that the larger and heavier the object, the more magical power is consumed.
Well, that's obvious, isn't it?
It would be strange if the person carrying the lighter load consumed more energy than the person carrying the heavier load.
Next, a living creature. Is there anything around?
I peek out the window.
The green trees and the sound of birds in the distance.
...Nothing.
Giving up, I turn around and see a beetle-like creature on the wall.
I say "beetle-like" because its horns are different from the beetles I know, but it's probably similar.
I don't mind that its horns look like forks. It's a fantasy world, after all.
I carefully grab the Fork Beetle (my name for it).
Thinking about it, it might try to stab me with those fork-like horns...
When I grab it, it only flutters its legs a little and is quite docile.
"Alright, Fork Beetle! You're the first living creature to experience teleportation! Be proud! Teleport!"
The Fork Beetle is enveloped in magical power, just like before.
And the Fork Beetle is on the table.
"Success! Great job, Fork Beetle!"
I run to the Fork Beetle, sharing my joy, when something the size of a fist hits my head with a thud.
Huh? What? Was I hit with a pebble? Is bullying starting at three years old? What a harsh world...
In the midst of my confused thoughts, I look up to see a beetle (probably a female) with a spoon-like appendage flying in front of me.
She's probably saying, "What are you doing to my male?"
Women are strong in any world.
After that, I was chased for about thirty minutes.
---
After being chased by the Spoon Beetle, I successfully teleported myself a short distance.
At first, I mistakenly teleported about a meter above the ground and panicked.
On the way back, I repeated short-distance teleports to return to the mansion.
Next, I want to try long-distance teleports, teleporting over obstacles, and teleporting multiple objects. There are still many challenges.
I want to be able to travel and shop anywhere in the future.
