"Has our servant done something wrong?"
After saying that, Lavi wiped cold sweat from her forehead, realizing she had messed up. She had rushed out without thinking. The heavy atmosphere she felt on her cheeks made her stumble and rush out, but she had no particular ill intent. She wanted to lift her skirt and run away, but it was too late for that now, and Lavi gritted her teeth in frustration.
She was even disappointed in her own lack of planning.
"Y-Young Lady...?"
Behind her, the voice of the clumsy servant could be heard. Yes, the young lady. If a ghost had jumped out in this situation, she would have punched it with a right hook. Incidentally, in that case, Lavi's right arm would shatter, leading to a scene that was far from amusing.
Sai furrowed his brow deeply. His expression was far from pleasant. Every time she saw the impressive weapon at his waist, her heart made an unpleasant sound, but Lavi knew him "one-sidedly."
In the game, he wasn't particularly talkative, but he wasn't the type to act irrationally. If anything, he fell into the category of a sensible person. That's why, as a character, he lacked distinct personality and didn't stand out much.
So, the Lavi who knew him believed that at this moment, he wouldn't take any strange actions toward her, his master's fiancée. Probably. Hopefully.
(After all, it's just game knowledge! And being a sensible person was in relation to Nelra, not me!)
How he would react to the villainess Lavi was a mystery. At the very least, it was clear that he didn't like her. In the main game, when she was executed, none of the playable characters objected. Some even enthusiastically cheered for her quick death. As a player, she hadn't paid much attention to it, but as Lavi, she thought that at least her brother, Fiel, could have shown some reaction. But that part was glossed over.
It was sad, but she couldn't help it. Anyway.
(I-It should be fine, right...?)
The silence was painful. Sai remained silent. It might not have been a long time, but the tension made each second feel slow.
It was probably true that this servant had something to do with Sai, but even if the servant had said something rude, Sai would be fine, surely, probably, maybe.
Her confidence was waning, and she was considering using the man behind her as a scapegoat to escape when Sai exhaled quietly. Then, his narrow eyes glanced at her, "I was just asking for directions. We didn't have a serious conversation." His deep voice sent shivers down her spine.
"Oh, I see. If you need anything, I can show you around the mansion thoroughly?"
"No, thank you."
His short response made her sigh in relief. "I see." She felt more at ease not being bothered further, but then, "Still, you were complaining of a stomachache earlier, but you look much better now." She flinched. Ignoring her discomfort, Sai quickly walked away with his long strides. The estate was indeed vast. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and turned around. She wanted to pull the overly energetic orange hair of the servant. With a sparrow-like ponytail.
"Y-Young Lady..."
He was still holding the broom, staring at her blankly. It wasn't a very "Lavi" thing to do. Crossing her arms and turning her nose up, the servant grunted. "That guy was weird, right? Your face always looks terrible, yet..." "Should I punch him?" The threat was becoming real, but the cracking sound from her right hand made her give up.
"Did he really just ask for directions? The atmosphere seemed pretty serious."
If that was the case, the cold sweat was for nothing. But as he wriggled with the broom, a bad feeling crept in.
"Well, I was the one who started the conversation."
"Why?"
"Because I thought the knight was so cool."
"Did you come out of your mother's mouth?"
It was a possibility.
No way, that can't be it, she thought, watching the man grin. Honestly, she didn't care anymore and suddenly remembered Baldo. His smiling face in a warm place. Maybe that was what she had been looking for.
That night, after eating her fill of sweets, she sneaked out of her room. She entered the greenhouse where she had conversations with Baldo and walked around happily.
"This is amazing! This place is amazing! No one comes here! It's warm! It's a much better change of pace than walking in circles in my room! This is what I was looking for!"
Even in her own mansion, she had forgotten about it. The Heathfen family's estate was too vast. She understood why Sai got lost. While practicing her facial muscles with a grin, she realized how exhausted she was and returned to bed. The next day, the servants were trembling as the mansion echoed with the laughter of a witch, and she regretted overdoing it.
