The new series is now complete. I wrote it all at once, so there might be various contradictions, but I would be happy if you could read it with an open heart.
I, Miku Matsui, am 18 years old and completely alone in the world.
My father passed away before I was old enough to remember him, and my mother, who raised me on her own, also died of an illness recently.
Therefore, I gave up on going to university and got a job right after high school.
Although my mother had hoped I would go to university, I changed my plans to let her have an easier life as soon as possible, and it turned out to be unexpectedly useful.
I moved into a one-room apartment that was close to my workplace and had the cheapest rent.
Fortunately, my mother had left me enough savings to pay for university.
If I work hard, I should be able to get by.
Still... it’s so small.
Looking at the mountains of cardboard boxes, I let out a big sigh.
I managed to fit in a bed and a desk, but the rest of the floor is just boxes, boxes, boxes... a mountain of boxes.
It’s like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, with several tilted cardboard towers towering up.
What am I going to do with this?
I made a mistake.
It was my first time renting a room, so I only thought about the rent.
There’s only a tiny closet here, and there’s no storage space.
Even the moving guys, who somehow managed to stack the boxes inside, looked apologetic.
Sigh... I guess I have to declutter.
I thought I had gotten rid of a lot, but...
I couldn’t bear to throw away things that reminded me of my life with my mother.
There’s no choice.
If I work for 2 or 3 years, I should be able to save some money, and then I can move again.
I’ll aim to move into a room with great storage and work hard.
After my mother passed away, I stayed with my aunt until I graduated from high school, but now I’m finally on my own.
I was feeling tired from all the events... and I was dozing off on the bed, moving the boxes out of the way, when suddenly the room started to shake with a rumbling sound.
An earthquake!?
I have to get out!!
—Ouch!!
Before I could even jump up, the stacked boxes collapsed.
Something hard fell on my head, and I started to lose consciousness.
This is bad. I might be injured.
I tried to get up, but my body wouldn’t move.
My head is pounding...
At that moment, an old man’s voice echoed in my head.
"I will reincarnate you. If you have a wish, I will grant one."
Reincarnation? In this emergency, what kind of nonsense is this?
More importantly, if someone is there, please do something about the falling boxes!
I can’t move! It hurts!
"...It’s understandable that you’re confused, but time is running out. In the next world, name one thing you wish for. I will grant you the corresponding ability, and you will live your new life with it."
The voice in my head spoke calmly.
What do I wish for?
That’s easy.
Storage!!
And not just any storage, but the best storage in the world, please!!
I want magical storage that can hold anything!
"You have suffered in this life. I will grant you the best storage in the world. Live well."
After that, I have no memory.
