"Ah, I've become an [Explorer]."

One morning, I woke up in bed with this thought.

When I got up and looked at the back of my right hand, a mysterious pattern had appeared.

I am Rokusou Daichi.

I am a penniless freelancer living in modern-day Japan.

I am nineteen years old, single, and living alone.

I moved out and got a job right after high school graduation, but dropped out after three months due to the extreme blackness of the workplace.

Now I earn my daily bread through part-time jobs and manage to get by.

Perhaps an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has come my way.

It has been about thirty years since [Dungeons] appeared on Earth in the modern era.

This also means it has been thirty years since people known as Explorers began to appear among humans.

The suddenly appearing dungeons across the world are filled with numerous [Monsters].

When these monsters first spilled out onto the surface, it caused a great commotion, but now the measures to deal with them have been established.

Explorers, who appeared almost simultaneously with the dungeons, are people granted the power to delve into dungeons and battle monsters.

The responsibility for dealing with the dungeons was entrusted to them.

Explorers seem to "become" one without any warning, on a certain day.

They awaken to "powers" and "senses" they never had before.

I felt that I had "become" one of them.

It felt like I had awakened while I was sleeping.

"[Status Open]"

I muttered this alone on the bed in my shabby, 59,000 yen per month room.

A semi-transparent board-like object then appeared in my field of vision.

However, if I make a gesture as if touching it with my fingertips, I can operate it in various ways.

There were also several other things I now knew, despite not knowing them before.

It seems that becoming an Explorer involves knowing these things.

"Alright, let's go to the dungeon."

I had the day off from my part-time job.

After a simple breakfast of toast and eggs, I got ready with the bare minimum and left the house.
