If You Are a Dodder Flower Chapter 63 part2
Her face was still caked with performance makeup, her usual pink lips brightly painted. Even her eyes were ringed darkly. Though it was a little much, it didn’t look bad. It was just that when she stood under the lights, she seemed way too colorful. It obscured her age.
She pouted her lips, showing the unbridled temper of a little girl. Her eyes sparkled like water in that expression.
It was a sparkle he’d never seen before.
Cao Yang looked at her face, unsure why he felt an indescribably itch inside his heart.
Xia Rou… had really grown up. Translated by The Novelst
“Did you watch the entire scene?” Xia Rou asked, grabbing his arm.
Cao Yang snapped back to attention, smiling, “No, I had just arrived when I saw you get slapped, and then it was intermission.”
“Then good. You didn’t miss a lot of my scenes,” Xia Rou said happily.
She was clear that Cao Yang had lied to her when he said “he couldn’t come,” but it was true that he was busy today. And that such a busy person came deliberately to see her…
Xia Rou hugged Cao Yang’s arm tightly, not wanting to let go.
She didn’t know why Cao Yang wasn’t saying anything. He just looked at her.
His gaze when directed at her seemed a little odd. It was different than usual.
Xia Rou noticed this and remembered, “I haven’t removed my makeup yet!” She touched her face self-consciously.
“Is it very ugly?” she asked. Stage makeup and daily makeup were different. She was very nervous. Her makeup was very exaggerated.
Cao Yang didn’t find it ugly. He only felt that she was wearing too much makeup. It made her look like a woman, not like a little girl.
Inside his heart, something seemed to be breaking free.
He wanted to tease her by saying “it’s so ugly,” but when he opened his mouth, the words, “No, you look very beautiful” spilled involuntarily out of his mouth.
She was indeed very beautiful. He wanted to move his gaze away, but her face, with her scarlet-plum lips pouting slightly, seemed to hold some sort of magnetic force.
He was drawn to it.
“Then I’ll leave with you later?” Xia Rou asked.
Cao Yang responded helplessly, “I can’t. I need to leave now and rush to a dinner party.”
This was something that she expected. Xia Rou wasn’t disappointed. And she still had to go to a dinner gathering with her drama club.
She said with a smile, “Then you should go, or else you’ll get stuck in traffic later.”
As she spoke, she let go of Cao Yang’s arm.
Suddenly, he touched her face. “Was it painful?”
Xia Rou was surprised before she finally registered the meaning in his words. She responded happily, “No, it’s all fake. He doesn’t really hit me. It’s just a light tap.”
“The president even said that it looks so fake that he should have used more strength. Senior Wei said he was afraid he might hurt me, so he didn’t dare use any strength,” she laughed.
Senior Wei?
Cao Yang rubbed her face. “Then that’s good.”
In the end, his hand filled with powder. How high quality could the makeup products be for a student-led production? Of course it would be poor quality.
Three lines came down on Cao Yang’s head. “Hurry and remove your makeup. Don’t let it ruin your skin!”
Xia Rou was happy. She wanted to send him off at the entrance.
Cao Yang saw that the costume she was wearing consisted of only a thin shirt, so he pushed her back inside the theater.
“Big brother!” Xia Rou grabbed the door and leaned out as she called him.
“Hm?”
“Be careful when you drive!”
“Got it.”
“Big brother!”
“Hm?”
“Don’t drink too much! If you do, call a driver!”
“Stop nagging!”
“Big brother!”
“What now?”
This time, she didn’t say anything, instead choosing to stare at him. She smiled.
In the end she only said, “Then I’ll be going back!”
Cao Yang gritted his teeth. “Hurry and take off that makeup!”
Xia Rou let out a snort. “You said just now it was beautiful!”
Cao Yang pretended to want to pinch her face and Xia Rou quickly shrunk back inside and shut the door.
Cao Yang smiled, pulling at his collar and walking out.
At the corner, he couldn’t help but turn back around and take another glance.
The door opened again to let out a small head… and when she saw him turning his head, she smiled happily and waved at him.
Cao Yang then waved back to her, indicating for her to quickly go back in. Then her head finally went back in.
Cao Yang stood there looking for a while longer. After seeing that the door didn’t budge any longer, he turned around and left.
Sheng Da was located in the old area of the city. The dinner he was rushing too was in the new area. Traveling there would probably mean he would encounter traffic.
But Cao Yang’s lips were still quirked into a smile.
The show was a hit. After answering the curtain call, the students of the drama club were all very proud.
“Senior! Later, we’re having a dinner party. You need to come, promise me!” Zou Yue said to Wei Qi.
Wei Qi promised her. “Of course!”
It had already been half a month. He had waited this long to have a chance to speak with Xia Rou. How could he let it slip away so easily?
They all tidied up and walked to the restaurant. Student gatherings generally didn’t take place anywhere too expensive, nor at places too far away. Usually it was near enough to the school that they could walk the distance.
“You really do wrap up well!” Someone said to Xia Rou.
“I’m afraid of the cold,” responded Xia Rou.
Wei Qi turned his head slightly to her. He saw the girl was laughing and speaking to someone else, the scarf on her neck covering nearly half her face, her eyes curved into crescent moons.
Scared of the cold. He noted it down. Translated by The Novelst
Somehow he felt that the attribute 'scared of the cold” suited her very well.
She was a naturally delicate girl. She should be like a weak flower, sheltered carefully inside a greenhouse filled with sunlight. That was how she could bloom so beautifully.
Wei Qi wanted to become the person to shelter her.
Who said it was only girls who liked to imagine things?
The road from school to the restaurant wasn’t too long. Wei Qi sometimes responded absentmindedly to Zou Yue, but in his mind… he had already spent a good life with Xia Rou, caring for her and loving her his entire life!
A boy’s mind was no different than a girl’s when they fell into a fervent love.
