Chapter 72

This year's Golden Microphone Award for radio and television program hosts is organized and planned by the Beijing TV Station. The award ceremony will be held at the Beijing TV Station Grand Theater, so all the announcements, promotions, and list publications are on the official website of the TV station, including the list of nominees.

Xiaofang clearly saw this!

But no one understood why she was shouting so loudly!

"Come over here quickly!" Xiaofang was still shouting, "This... this..."

Sister Zhou said irritably, "It's just a list? There's no Xiao Zhang, what are you looking at!"

But Xiaofang's shouting was so exaggerated that many people gathered around, "What's going on? Let me see."

When they focused, the second person also called out, "Damn! How can Teacher Zhang Ye's name be here! Am I seeing things?"

Zhang Ye's name?

How could his name be here?

Aunt Sun also ran up to check and then said excitedly, "There's Xiao Zhang! Really, there's Xiao Zhang!"

Jia Yan was surprised, "How can that be? Did you see it wrong?"

Zhang Ye's face also changed. What? Didn't the station only recommend him for one nomination?

Wang Xiaomei also joined in, "Xiao Zhang doesn't have a hosting position right now, the station can't nominate him, right? And who else could nominate him?" Zhang Ye had offended all the leaders. Even if Zhang Ye had the qualifications to be nominated, certain station leaders would definitely find a way to remove him!

Xiaofang said excitedly, "It's not our Beijing Radio Station's recommendation! It's the recommendation of five judges from the Golden Microphone Selection Committee! They gave Teacher Zhang Ye an additional Silver Microphone nomination for radio broadcasting!"

"Huh?"

"The Selection Committee?"

"Directly breaking the rules to nominate?"

Sister Zhou was surprised, "Why would the Selection Committee nominate Xiao Zhang alone? Each of the five judges has three additional Golden Microphone nominations and two additional Silver Microphone nominations. Does that mean one of the judges nominated Teacher Zhang Ye?"

Many people looked at each other, unable to react!

You guys have been messing with Teacher Zhang Ye, look, it turns out he has someone backing him up!

Hearing this, Zhang Ye's heart also settled. He was really scared. After the phone call with Zhang Yuanqi, he thought Old Zhang didn't intend to help him, and the call was hung up. He didn't expect that Comrade Old Zhang was really a good guy, immediately getting things done for him. What a righteous friend!

...

At the same time.

Deputy Director Jia's office.

"What's going on with this list?" Deputy Director Jia asked his secretary with a dark face.

The secretary looked distressed, "Leader, the internal recommendation I gave to the Selection Committee was only Zhang Ye, no mistake. It might be an additional nomination from the Selection Committee."

"Additional?" Deputy Director Jia immediately confirmed on the web page, and it was indeed so. He waved his hand, "You can go out, close the door behind you!"

The secretary carefully left, knowing that the leader was angry.

Deputy Director Jia picked up the phone and called a familiar small leader from the Selection Committee, "Hello, Old Zheng, what's the meaning of this?"

The middle-aged man on the phone had a hoarse voice, as if his vocal cords had been damaged, and said, "Old Jia, I was also about to contact your station. I just found out about the nomination. Don't worry, there's no other meaning, not to pressure your station. As far as I know, one of the judges submitted this nomination, and the other judges couldn't refuse, so it made it to the list."

Deputy Director Jia asked, "Which judge?"

"I don't know that," Director Zheng said.

Deputy Director Jia was angry, "But to others, this is a slap in the face of the Beijing TV Station's leadership. We only nominated one person this time because there was no one suitable for the second nomination. But you guys did this, aren't you saying our station is blind? There are good candidates, but we didn't discover them, and the Selection Committee had to discover and nominate them for us? How will other units view us?"

Clearly, it was his personal motives that led to this situation, but he spoke with righteous indignation!

Director Zheng explained, "Don't worry, this is something that can't be controlled. The additional nominations are made by the higher-ups, and I, as a small director, can't do anything about it."

According to the rules, additional nominations can be given freely.

But in principle, such nominations are not used lightly, which is why Deputy Director Jia was angry.

In the past, there was an unspoken agreement between the judges and the radio and television units. Most of the time, they wouldn't use the additional nominations. If they did, it would be when a radio station had several good new talents but could only nominate two people. In such cases, the judges would use their additional nominations to give a nomination to someone who wasn't recommended, as a form of encouragement. Yes, it was just encouragement, because no one who was nominated through an additional nomination had ever won an award. It was just a symbolic nomination to encourage them, not to let the additional nominees win.

Why?

Because the Selection Committee not only considers the personal qualities and abilities of the hosts but also takes into account the opinions and attitudes of their work units. The two people nominated by the unit represent the unit's opinion, and the Selection Committee has always respected this, so they wouldn't consider additional nominations.

Even so, Deputy Director Jia was still furious. Anyone with clear eyes could see Zhang Ye's achievements, breaking several records and historical records. People from other provincial radio stations might even know Zhang Ye's name, but he wasn't nominated by their station. This clearly showed their station's attitude, which was that they didn't want him to be nominated. Now, an unknown judge wanted to put Zhang Ye on the list! Wasn't this a slap in the face? Who could it be?

Teacher Lu? No, Teacher Lu's additional nomination should be for the Golden Microphone.

A new judge with a Silver Microphone nomination? Could it be that famous diva? That's even more impossible! How could Zhang Ye know Zhang Yuanqi!

The call ended.

Zhang Ye knocked on the door and came in, "Director Jia, about the nomination..."

Deputy Director Jia suppressed his anger and recovered, "It's fine, it's just a small incident. You are the station's recommendation, the Silver Microphone is definitely yours, don't worry."

Zhang Ye let out a sigh of relief and said, "What is he trying to do? Getting someone to nominate him? Isn't he openly challenging the unit?"

"Go back," Deputy Director Jia didn't say much, but in his heart, he had already sentenced Zhang Ye to death. How dare you challenge the unit's authority! Do you have any sense of the bigger picture!

Some people are like this. They use their power to oppress others, wanting to do whatever they want, but they don't allow any retaliation. When they abuse their power, they never consider the consequences or reason. But when others resist, they suddenly have a lot of principles! In short, they are never wrong, what they do is the truth, and all the mistakes are on Zhang Ye's side! Zhang Ye shouldn't even be born in this world! Faced with such people, Zhang Ye often only has one word for them—what a bunch of ungrateful bastards, thinking the whole world revolves around them! Go to hell!

...

After work.

Colleagues left the unit in groups.

Sister Zhou said happily, "Xiao Zhang, you have a chance this time."

Aunt Sun said pessimistically, "It's still no use. As far as I know, additional nominations don't win awards."

"Huh?" Sister Zhou didn't understand, "Is that true?"

"It's always been like this. The Selection Committee considers the unit's opinion," Aunt Sun said. "But it's enough. This is a slap in the face of the station's leadership, and Xiao Zhang has finally had his revenge!"

Enough?

Far from it!

Being oppressed like this, Zhang Ye couldn't swallow this humiliation!
