Chapter 6 of 10

Chapter 6

When I was working as an office worker in Japan, this was the game I wanted to play when I had time.

"…I remember."

I wanted to join this knight's order and play… I must have thought something like that.

This is the Sigul Knight Order.

In the game, players choose one of the knight orders from various countries and participate in quests like slaying monsters. The story culminated in defeating a witch.

"Wait, no way. This is really the game world!?"

But thinking back, I recognize the armor of that handsome guy.

"If that's the case… what's the situation now?"

The story of defeating the witch had already ended.

Apparently, the operating company had a huge deficit in other businesses, and the game department was acquired by another company.

As a result, the game ended with the world being destroyed by the witch, and the surviving adventurers working hard to rebuild the devastated world.

Wait a minute.

If this is the game world, then this place will eventually be devastated… NPCs and townspeople will die in large numbers.

If things continue like this, I might… get involved in the witch's story and die!?

"No, no, no."

Wait. It's not certain yet that this is the game world.

As I was thinking about it, Helga came to encourage me to start eating.

I put the game aside and focused on the meal.

After I finished eating, Helga took the dishes and said she would go get the captain, then left the room.

It seems I'm about to meet the captain.

If this is the same world as the game from my previous life, the captain is that person.

Soon, there was a knock on the door.

Helga entered first, then introduced the person behind her.

"Yura, this is Captain Lucian Laude Alvaen."

"…"

Oh no. It's confirmed that this world is almost identical to the game.

That silver-haired handsome guy is the captain himself.

The captain's silver hair is as beautiful as ever.

But if this is the game world, this handsome captain will survive, but the other members of the order will almost all die.

"This time, I won't bow or anything."

As I was lost in thought, a small voice whispered, and I let out a mental scream, "Eek!"

I messed up. I was confused back then and did something weird. Did I make a bad impression? Will it affect the interrogation?

While I was watching his reaction, he said as if nothing had happened.

"I want to hear your story."

Saying that, Captain Lucian entered the room.

Then, a few more men came in. There were three of them, but from my seated position, seeing tall people in front of me was a bit scary.

It seems I can talk properly now, but due to my naturally shy nature, I really wanted to hide under the blanket.

But I had to endure.

If things go as expected, these people won't harm me. I'm more afraid of being disliked for rude behavior.

But I ended up looking at Helga, who was about to leave, with a pleading gaze.

Don't leave me behind!

I wanted to shout, but I couldn't say it out loud, and Helga left with a look of regret.

Then, a middle-aged man with red hair pulled the only chair to face me.

He seated Captain Lucian and moved to the side.

"You guys, step back a bit. Don't make her more scared."

He called out to the other two younger men, and the nervous-looking black-haired youth and the blonde youth moved towards the door. Neither of them looked intimidating, but their cold gazes were scary, so I felt relieved.

This person… is a good person.

He considered that I was scared. He must be a considerate person.

I bowed slightly, and the red-haired man blinked and gave me a brief smile.

When the captain saw that I had calmed down, he began to speak from his seat.

"Alright, do you know why you were there?"

Reason. There could be many.

"I don't really understand… much."

"Nothing at all?"

"I know they were conducting experiments. That place… or rather, this place is probably not my hometown. Other than that, not much. When I woke up, I was told I was a failure and was being taken outside to be disposed of, but you saved me."

"Disposed of…?"

The captain murmured and nodded.

"Then I'll tell you what we know. It seems you were summoned from your homeland."

"Summoned!?"

An unbelievable word came up.

I wasn't just reincarnated; I was summoned to that place. No wonder my memories are cut off from the cemetery.

"To conduct magical experiments. They also bought slaves and kidnapped people nearby, but to cover their tracks, they used magic to summon people from distant countries… essentially kidnapping them."

Yeah, I remember something about experiments.

"It seems several people were summoned before you. But they all either died in the experiments or were killed as failures because the desired results were not achieved."

"Before… several people…?"

I had a feeling that the disposal process was almost routine. They were used to it.

Failed, then disposed of.

And until now, I was so focused on myself that I didn't realize it. I never imagined that so many others were victims and had died.
