Chapter 9 - Getting Ready To See Her Sons

7 min read1,731 words

She had contemplated for a while before she came up with those beautiful words. Words that kept the right distance and showed a good attitude, from which no one could nitpick.

After pressing the send button, Su Yuanyuan suddenly remembered that she seemed to have done something unnecessary. After all, Yuchen only opens the text message app once in a blue moon, and he had already accumulated over 999+ unread text messages.

He was also busy at work. Therefore he wouldn’t coincidently see her text messages, right?

She put this matter behind her, continued to text her mum, and typed a sentence in passing. “Mum, here are my recent photos. Send me the photos you took recently too.”

When Su Yuanyuan sent the text message, it happened to be Shen Yuchen’s lunch break. It also happened that he was swiping through his phone when a message notification suddenly popped up right above.

–An unknown contact has sent three messages, please read them.

If it was the usual, Shen Yuchen wouldn’t have paid attention to the text messages sent by unknown contacts, but today he wanted to clear his 999+ text message notification bar.

He casually tapped on the notification and noticed that it was sent by that woman from the number.

Shen Yuchen looked at the two photos in silence. The first photo seemed to be taken in the morning. Facing the rising sun, Su Yuanyuan was wearing sportswear and stretching her arms towards the lake.

The hand of the person who took her photo was also in the photo, handing her a towel. The photo was framed at the moment Su Yuanyuan turned her head.

She was smiling. Her inky eyes were shining, like a pool of stars.

Shen Yuchen’s breath stopped for a moment. He paused at that photo for a long time before continuing to the second one.

The second one was indoors, with the lazy afternoon sunlight climbing up the windowsill and the curtains gently being blown by the wind.

Su Yuanyuan sat in front of her easel, holding a pencil with her right hand. There were already blurred lines of a figure on the paper in front of her. The photo only captured the side of her face. This time Su Yuanyuan didn’t have the time to look at the camera again as her energy was all focused on the drawing paper.

At that moment, a room was deliberately vacated at home as Yuanyuan’s studio and practice room.

As long as he didn’t say anything, she would never find out in her life.

After a few days of snooping around her screen, he discovered that her contact address book indeed only had a few numbers. The calls were also only made to them, she did not try to call other unfamiliar numbers.

At first, he would check his phone every day, but, later he didn’t think it was necessary to stare at it so often. Even so, he didn’t dare to take it lightly, thus he would check it every two or three days.

Unexpectedly, just after two days of not checking, that woman began to plot something again.

As he exported the screen recording, he also called the bodyguards responsible for taking care of Su Yuanyuan to report what that woman had been doing recently.

When A’shou and Jia Xin suddenly received a call from their big boss, they were a bit confused. “Madam, madam has been very normal recently.”

Before, that woman never took care of her body and lived a decadent life she wanted to live as she pleased. If she wanted to eat, she ate and if she wanted to sleep, she slept. But, why did she begin to have such a big transformation this week?

Shen Yuchen asked after listening: “Have you been following her constantly? Have you seen her seeing other strangers?

“Yes, not an inch away. Madam has always been in our sight.” They replied.

“Why did she suddenly start exercising and drawing lately? Have you asked her why?”

Jia Xin thought about it and said: “Madam said that she was afraid that her hand would get rusty if she didn’t draw after a long time. So, she asked us to buy sketchbooks and easels, and there were no other reasons. Madam also started exercising this week.”

“Okay, I understand.”

He hung up the phone and at that time video recordings from Su Yuanyuan’s phone from the past few days had been exported. He fast-forwarded until noon today.

It turned out that she wanted to send it to her parents, but her phone froze so she mistakenly sent it to his phone.

Since it wasn’t sent to others, he was relieved.

As long as that woman didn’t cause trouble, and occasionally cooperated to pretend in front of the children, he could still peacefully coexist with her.

Shen Yuchen pinched his brow and suddenly felt a headache. Her recent behaviours were too abnormal that things would turn out different at unexpected moments. It seemed in this period he had to keep a close eye on her.

“Where did you go just now? I was painting well, yet halfway through you ran away.”

In the afternoon, Su Yuanyuan borrowed A’shou’s body as a model.

However, halfway through the drawing of the shadow, Jia Xin received a call and furtively ran off with A’shou, only to return a while later.

They looked at each other for a moment, then stammered. “It was the Master who just called. He asked how have you been doing?”

She let out an “oh”, and was not bothered: “Both of you tell me everything.”

“Well, well…”

Their expression stiffened a little. For some reason when the Madam’s eyes swept over, a faint feeling of guilt rose in their hearts.

Madam treats us very well. We eat, play and apply face masks, and do almost everything together aside from sleeping on the same bed. But reporting madam’s condition is our job. So why does it feel like we’re betraying her?!

Su Yuanyuan gestured A’shou to sit back in her original position and continue, while carelessly asking: “ What kind of questions does he usually ask you?”

Jia Xin: “In addition to important matters that need to be reported in real-time, Master usually only asks about trivial matters once a few days. He mostly asks about Madam’s health condition or who you have contacted recently.”

Health condition?

She was in a better mood. “Next time if he asks you, just answer as usual. Don’t be nervous, I don’t mean to ask both of you to be double agents.”

“Mhm.” Jia Xin glanced at her Madam’s face, and it was still the same as usual.

Su Yuanyuan drew all afternoon. The human sketch drawing was almost one-third complete, and some part of the shading still needed to be observed and darkened.

She rubbed her chin and suddenly said: “Suddenly I kind of want to draw male nude models, can you guys-?”

“Madam!!” They were shocked by those words.

“Hahahaha, I’m just kidding.”

The night before the Mid-Autumn Festival, Su Yuanyuan suddenly received a call from Shen Yuchen.

She looked at the word ‘hubby’ constantly flashing on the phone screen. Usually, she was the one who called, it was the first time that man had ever called.

After tapping the answer button on the phone screen, she casually answered: “Hello, what’s up hubby?”

“…”

After a full half-minute, Shen Yuchen opened his mouth and uttered: “Tomorrow, the 15th of September, is the Mid-Autumn Festival. You should have no other arrangements, right?”

“No, why?” She didn’t get it at that moment.

“Xiao Bei and Xiao Nan want to see you.”

At last, she could finally meet her two baby boys. A while ago, she would think about it day and night, and her mind would always imagine how Xiao Nan and Xiao Bei grew from small dumplings to little beans/cubs.

She had already missed five years, and she didn’t want to miss them anymore.

That night, Su Yuanyuan didn’t sleep well because she was overwhelmed with joy.

The next day, she was so excited that she got up early and opened her wardrobe to pick out an outfit.

A’shou came knocking on the door and asked after seeing that there were a lot of clothes piled up on the bed: “Madam, are you not going to do your morning exercise today?”

“No, I’m going home to see my sons tonight, so I need to pick out a nice dress.”

She tried all the clothes in the wardrobe as well as asked the other four women in the room for advice, eventually settling on a long black dress.

The long dress was a fishtail style that was trending now. In addition to the hemline, the upper part of the long dress tightened her waist and hips. In Jia Xin’s words, the Madam looked like a model out of a fashion magazine.

Su Yuanyuan knew they had the habit of blowing rainbow farts and didn’t take the statement seriously. 2

However, after this period of exercise, her belly became completely flat. She also had two vague V lines, so wearing this slim dress was just right.

Her skin was glowing like jade, just her natural face was beautiful enough. Her beauty was overwhelming with her seaweed-like long hair flowing down, bright eyes, and white teeth.

Su Yuanyuan gently drew her eyebrows in front of her mirror but paused when she picked up her lipstick.

“Is Madam not going to wear lipstick?”

She shook her head and put the lipstick back at its original spot: “No.”

Love me with ko-fi la. Muah

Hello, my beautiful pigeons, I am sorry I have been away for a while. It just a lot of things happened in real life. I wish I could elaborate, but I guess it’s really hard even though it’s been two months. Maybe I will tell you guys one day. Anyhow if you are on discord you should know by now why I was away. I will try to post like before but honestly no promises. But, I guess other than the job that I recently got in a covid lab which I quite enjoy with weird day and night shift.
