Mido, who now belongs to the guild "Heaven-Given Raw Stone" in Act, had undergone training with the centaurs and is now a member of the Rosaria Party.
They are in a certain town outside the kingdom.
“Gii... gii... gii!”
In the middle of the town, a puppet powered by magic is rampaging. Adventurer parties are dealing with the out-of-control magical puppets.
“Damn, this thing is tough!”
“It’s strong! R, retreat!”
The various adventurers are no match for them.
“Waaaaaah! Mommy!”
A little girl who was left behind has fallen and is crying. A magical puppet is about to attack her.
*Swish*... Something accurately pierced the core of the magical puppet.
“Huh...?”
“Hey, are you okay?”
The one who landed with a *swish* was the half-elf girl, Mido.
“Are you hurt?”
“U, um...”
More magical puppets are approaching.
But Mido, without panicking, calmly shot through their cores in succession.
“Big sister... you’re amazing...”
She stood there with a short bow in her hand, looking like a seasoned warrior.
“Where are your mommy and daddy?”
“I don’t know...”
“You’re lost... Tell me your name.”
“Lena.”
Mido closed her eyes and listened carefully, then nodded.
“I’m going to take you. Can you run?”
“Y, yes...!”
Mido ran through the town with Lena, without any hesitation, heading deeper into the town.
They arrived at a back alley.
“Lena!”
“Mommy!”
The mother and daughter, tears streaming down their faces, were reunited.
“I’m glad, Lena.”
Mido smiled and the child said with a smile,
“Thank you, big sister!”
“Sure thing. Don’t get lost again, okay?”
“Okay!”
At that moment, they were surrounded by magical puppets from both sides of the alley.
There were magical puppets in front, behind, and even above. Mido stood protectively in front of the mother and daughter.
“Big sister... what do we do...”
“Don’t worry. I have a lot of amazing people on my side.”
*Thud*... A swordsman jumped down from the roof.
“Sorry, I’m late!”
“No, it’s okay, ma’am!”
The red-haired beauty, the swordsman Rosaria, had arrived. Rosaria ran through like a gust of wind, cutting down the magical puppets as if they were butter.
With Mido’s support, the numerous magical puppets were quickly eliminated.
“Thank you! I don’t know how to thank you...”
Lena’s mother bowed repeatedly to Mido and the others.
“Please don’t worry about it.”
“See you, Lena. Don’t cry anymore.”
Mido ruffled Lena’s hair.
“Okay! Bye-bye!”
Mido and the others continued to work with the town’s adventurers to eliminate the magical puppets.
That night, at an inn.
“Ma’am, I’ve been seeing those out-of-control magical puppets a lot lately.”
“Yes, that’s true. They’re quite troublesome unless their cores are destroyed, as they will continue to rampage until their magic power runs out.”
She sighed.
“By the way, have you found any information about Mido’s mother?”
“No... not yet. But we’ve only just arrived in this town. I want to stay a bit longer.”
“That’s fine. The guild master’s request isn’t urgent.”
The guild had ordered them to gather herbs found in the area around the town.
The guild would cover all the costs of the quest.
“Ma’am... I’ve been wondering, but aren’t there a lot of requests from outside the kingdom?”
After completing her training, Act had included Mido in her party.
Rosaria and her party were the guild’s top team. They received many requests both domestically and internationally, but it was unusual for so many to be from outside the kingdom.
“Huh... I think you’ve already noticed, haven’t you? The guild master’s kindness.”
“Yeah...”
If the requests were from outside the kingdom, the guild would cover the travel expenses.
For longer quests, the guild would also cover the accommodation costs.
Mido’s goal was to travel to different places to search for her mother, and Act was supporting her under the guise of completing quests.
“That’s strange. I’ve heard that guild masters usually don’t go to such lengths to help.”
“Yes, but... he’s special. He always puts our happiness first.”
Rosaria blushed and her eyes welled up.
“Hey, ma’am, do you like the guild master?”
“Hehe...♡ Well, what do you think?”
“C, come on, tell me!”
“Then, what about you, Mido?”
“W, well... I’m... I’m really grateful! Really, really grateful. That’s all... Why are you looking at me like you already know?”
“Hehe...♡”
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in... Oh? You’re the one from earlier.”
“It’s Lena’s mom. What’s wrong?”
Lena’s mother bowed deeply to Mido.
“I’m the innkeeper here.”
“Is that so? What’s the matter?”
“Actually...”
Mido listened to the innkeeper’s information and ran through the night.
“Haa...! Haa...! Haa...! Haa...!”
Suppressing her urgency, Mido ran at full speed.
“I often hear rumors as an innkeeper. I heard that there are half-elf refugees in one corner of the slums in this town.”
Following the innkeeper’s information, Mido headed to the slums. This was a large town with densely packed buildings and a complex network of streets.
Without the information from someone familiar with the town, she would have gotten lost.
“Mom! Mom!”
She eventually reached the slums.
“Mom...”
“Mido!”
Turning around, she saw her fellow half-elf.
“Hey!”
“Mido! I’m glad! You’re safe!?”
Mido, overjoyed at the reunion, hugged her companion.
“Right! Mom!?”
“Don’t worry. Michelle is safe.”
Guided by her companion, Mido arrived at a makeshift shack in the slums.
“Mido...”
In the dimly lit room, lying on a futon, was her mother, Michelle.
“Mom...”
Tears streamed down Mido’s face.
“Ugh... sniff... waaaaah!”
Mido rushed over and hugged her mother.
“Mom!”
“Mido! Oh, Mido!”
The two embraced, tears streaming down their faces, overjoyed at their reunion.
“I’m sorry, Mido. I made you suffer...”
“No, it’s okay! The kind guild master helped me!”
Mido deeply appreciated the guild master for not only rescuing her from her predicament but also providing the maximum support in her search for her mother.
Thus, Mido was able to reunite with her mother, whom she had longed to see.
