When I was a child, my mother used to read me stories and they were always somewhat boring. They’re all my mother’s favorite love stories. I remember reading several of them, but the ending was always the same: The omega has their happy ending with the alpha, the so-called Cinderella story. The omega waits for his one and only, and the alpha searches for the omega. They eventually meet, fall in love, and then happily ever after.

I hated that ending.

Whether it’s a story or reality, they’re both similar; everyone falls in love and marries according to the already destined secondary gender. At first glance, that may appear to be a happy thing. But there was a nagging fear that my genes were manipulating me, which was even more difficult for me to comprehend given that I am an alpha with the appearance of an omega.

Why should it be so? Who decided that, and why do they try to lump the Alphas happiness with Omegas?

In the end, from an outsider’s point of view, the two of us may be no different from the characters in those stories, an alpha and an omega in a common romantic relationship. However, there are many memories and past experiences that cannot be lumped together with those stories.

Of course, we never succumbed to the manipulation of our genes. I would have fallen in love with Shuhei no matter what his secondary gender was.

I have never been in a relationship that I can talk about, but I’m sure this is what it means.

Even if two lovers appear to be identical, they each have their own memories and accumulated pasts, as well as their own present.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that things will go well forever. That’s why we will bump into each other again and again, quarrel at times, talk about a lot of things, and walk through life together.

To the untrained eye, it’s probably a boring love story that can be found anywhere. But that is exactly what we chose to do with our love.
