¨Ben?¨ She asks looking up at me. Words can not begin to describe how happy and not to mention surprised I am to see her.

¨Hey, Eve.¨ I respond. I wasn’t even going to come tonight. When Nino texted me and told me to stop by I had wanted to decline his request, but my gut had said to come. So I did.

¨Er, I got to go…” She says and pulls her arm out of my grasp.

¨Oh, hey wait, were you crying?¨ I look down at her glassy blue eyes. My heart aches at the thought of her crying.

¨What?¨ She quickly wipes her hand under her eyes, clearing any tears that may have been there. The expression on my face must make her think that I don’t believe her because she quickly says, ¨Im fine really okay?¨

¨Do you need a ride?¨ I ask, hoping that she’ll say yes.

¨Well yeah, actually that’d be great.” She says

“Okay. Do you want to talk about it?” I ask as I lace my fingers through hers and begin to walk towards my car.

“It's nothing really I saw my ex and I guess I wasn’t ready to face him,” she says in a hoarse voice.

“Oh okay.” I so badly want to ask her about why they broke up but I don’t want to pry. “Do you want to listen to music or…”

“Yeah music sounds good,” She says looking out of the window.

I turn on the music on low so it's just background noise. “Um, do you have somewhere that you want me to take you, or do you just want to drive around?” I ask because just driving around - for me at least - is when I feel the most at peace.

“Um, the Excalibur Apartments.” She says her voice is so low I can barely hear her.

We drive in silence the rest of the way there. I pull into the parking lot and wait for her to leave. After a few minutes of her just sitting in her seat staring silently out of the window I look over at her face to see if she fell asleep.

She turns to me, “would you come up with me?”
