The nurse cheek twitched slightly, and suddenly came with a foreboding feeling. Sure enough, the next second she asks, “Can you be more specific?”

“The rumor of the Medical University vampire rose five years ago. Are there any traces in recent years? Where did it appear at that time? Did the person it bit later died or disappeared?”

”….”

“Why don’t you tell me, you graduated from Medical University, right?”

This hospital is the Affiliated Hospital of the Medical University, next to it is the best medical university in the country. Because the full name was too long, people habitually called it “Medical University”. Most of the doctors and nurses working here are graduates and professors of the University.

“I’m not…” The nurse blushed, the admission threshold of Medical University was extremely high.

“Then how did you get into the Affiliated Hospital?”

The young man looked at her curiously, without contempt or jest. He was simply asking seriously, just as if they were discussing a serious academic problem.

“I asked someone to get in, all right.”

“No wonder you said yesterday that you’re not worthy of your superior doctor.”

“Chen Mo!” The nurse’s sudden roar shook the hanging painting on the cloister. “I have finished changing the medicine! Last but not the least, if you dare to run out today, you will be locked up in the ICU for constant monitoring!”

Then she picked up her tray and left without looking back.

When she came, the mother of Mencius earnestly broke the shuttle from the loom.1 And when she left, Zhang Fei bellowed in the battle of changban.2

Xia Yuzhou stood outside the door, chuckling. It’s a miracle that this kid hadn’t been beaten to death until now. He slowly raised his hand and knocked on the door, “I’m from Medical University, how about we talk about it?”

“Who are you?”

“A doctor.”

The teenager who was putting on his shoes quickly looked up at the person that leaned on the door.

This person appeared to be wearing a white lab coat, but the style is different from that of Dr. Si’s gown. He wore a black gauze mask which obviously did not conform to the regulation. What’s more, there is a blue hoodie hat behind the white coat! Not to mention a doctor, even scalpers are not so hip-hop like him.

“I’m from another department so you probably haven’t seen me before,” Xia Yuzhou produced a half dead carnation and inserted it into the glass bottle near the head of the bed. “I’m your fan. I came by after I got off work. Where are you going?”

The teenager ignored him and continued to tie his shoelaces.

Xia Yuzhou pulled a stool and sat down beside the bed. On the bed was the book with the black cover that had a gilded title “Bloodling Discovery”.

“Are you going to go to the Medical University to look for that vampire?”

Those words piqued the young man’s interest, as he slowly stood up, and took a breath before he said, “Do you know him?”

Xia Yuzhou picked up the book and flipped through it,“Tell me first, what do you want with a vampire?”

“I want to ask him to give me the first embrace.”

“Huh?” Xia Yuzhou was clueless.

The young man raised his hand to hold down the flipped page, and pointed at the chapter title— The Embrace.

“Chu Yong. In English, First Embrace, the way to transform a human being into a Bloodling. According to the book, it’s probably the vampire who sucks up the human’s blood first, and then allows the dying person to suck his own blood, so as to transform it into the same kind.” The young man explained seriously.

“In fact, I don’t think it’s accurate to translate “Chu Yong” to “First Embrace” but rather, it should be interpreted as faith conversion. Conversion to Bloodling, to the God of Darkness.

God of Darkness…

The corners of Xia Yuzhou’s mouth twitched. This is the student acclaimed by his senior, the genius rising star in the scientific community, and he became superstitious before he even went to University. “Aren’t you a student of Professor He? Look less at these things. You don’t believe in science, but rather believe in these irrelevant things.”

“When you are in a desperate situation, you must have something to sustain your hope.” The young man shrugged.

His disease can only be cured by a bone marrow transplant. But due to physical reasons, his survival rate was still low regardless if the transplant was successful.

His face was pale to near-transparent, and a vicissitudes of life that shouldn’t have belonged to one of such age marked his face in flash. “You don’t understand.”

“Okay, I don’t understand.” Xia Yuzhou stepped on the bed with one foot, opened the memo on his phone and flipped through the lines he had prepared before he came. But, he might as well just turn off the phone. “But how do you know that being a vampire can cure a disease? Even if it can be cured, being a vampire who can’t see the light can make life more painful…”

“Even if you have to live like a bug, that’s still living.” The teenager interrupted Xia Yuzhou’s long talk. He took the book and clamped it in his armpit, walked to the door and waved back to Xia Yuzhou, “Thank you for chatting with me about this, I still have something to do. Goodbye.”

Xia Yuzhou was amused by that cool and silly anime line. He stood up with great coordination and in the tone of a mysterious grandfather in an anime, he cadence, “I have seen your determination! So young man, are you willing to convert to the Blood Clan?”

“What did you say?”

He suddenly turned back.

The black mask was slowly lowered to the shock of the young man’s eyes.

Xia Yuzhou grinned, which revealed a pointed long fang and said, “First Embrace is an imported word, my people called it the “Blood Pact”.3 To take my blood to melt your blood, for you to belong to the blood and be Bloodling. From now on, you will live your life as inhuman, and die from unnatural death.4 Are you willing?”
