"Hmm." With the alchemical puppet's eyes observing all around, Chu Ci quickly noticed the polished arrow not far away.
Is this hunting? In the middle of the night, could there be something that can't be discovered? Chu Ci's eyes narrowed slightly, relying entirely on the visual link with the alchemical puppet to observe the movements. Dozens of alchemical eyes and ears helped him form a spatial simulation in his mind, roughly outlining the little creature behind the tree.
The bow was half-drawn, the string taut.
The arrow was released, and Chu Ci knew it would definitely miss.
Why ask? Because the little deer and the arrow were separated by Chu Ci, who was sitting there innocently, and the protection time hadn't expired yet.
Chu Ci thought the arrow would stop in mid-air, intercepted by the protective space, but he didn't expect the limits of the Main God's integrity. Just as the arrowhead was about to touch the barrier of the protective space,
"Mission World, Legend of the Dragon Rider, countdown begins: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, now entering."
"Mission World: Legend of the Dragon Rider
This mission is a solo mission, difficulty: Special Class
Main Mission: Dawn of the Kingdom, protect the predestined Dragon Rider until the kingdom regains peace, complete the mission and return to the Main God Space."
"Notice: Language synchronization with this world has been established. All languages in this world will be automatically translated into your native language."
Snap.
The only two magical puppets Chu Ci had released dodged to the side, catching and breaking the arrow with their bare hands. The arrowhead was just a meter away from Chu Ci's face.
A blue flash suddenly appeared and disappeared, followed by a loud explosion. This time, even the puppet couldn't stop it. A blue, oval, rock-hard object, harder than granite, hit Chu Ci's forehead, triggering a series of black and white glowing alchemical arrays. Everything around where Chu Ci was sitting was destroyed, scorched into a large circular patch of barren earth. Even the alchemical puppets were scattered by the shockwave.
"I got hit just sitting here." Chu Ci's eyes were only three millimeters away from the blue, oval, hard object, and he was completely stunned. If it weren't for the automatic defense of the alchemical array on his clothes, he would have been split open.
Chu Ci was dazed, and not far away, the young and promising Eragon was also staring blankly. The little deer hopped away, and the originally empty space suddenly filled with a bunch of monsters—gargoyles, eagles, and even people.
The spatial wrinkles torn by the teleportation magic had yet to settle, and intense energy reactions in the confined space generated heat, igniting the dry branches and leaves on the ground.
"Extinguished." Chu Ci came to his senses, took the dragon egg off his forehead, and had the magic spirit puppet use an ice crystal spell to put out the fire. Only then did he calmly admire the treasure that had fallen from the sky. The surface of the gem-blue egg was flawless, cool, and smooth, like hard silk. Its length was roughly that of an industrial keyboard, and its weight was equivalent to a Samsung S27 series monitor.
It was hard to imagine that such a small dragon egg would eventually hatch into a dragon over ten meters long, a majestic and elegant beast that would be loyal to the Dragon Rider for life.
A Dragon Rider, huh? Chu Ci mused, turning his head to look at the young man not far away. He was Eragon, the newly born Dragon Rider. Wearing his homemade alchemical glasses, Chu Ci scanned him with a glance. His combat power was only 5.
"Who are you?" The young and impulsive Eragon, like all main characters, had a common flaw—curiosity. Seeing Chu Ci sitting among a group of alchemical puppets, he didn't run for his life but instead asked curiously.
"A traveler from afar, you can call me Chu." Thinking of Eragon's foolish actions in the original plot, Chu Ci had an impulse to get rid of this young man. Fortunately, the results of his investigation soon came in. From the matching of mental and energy fluctuations, Chu Ci and this dragon egg were not a match. So, for the main mission, Chu Ci decided to let Eragon off.
Eragon didn't realize he had just walked on the edge of a cliff. Chu Ci's seemingly peaceful tone also made him lower his guard, introducing himself, "Eragon."
"What are these things?" Eragon didn't lower his bow. If the traveler were surrounded by these evil creatures, Eragon might have helped him break free.
"These are my creations. I am a—well, a magician, I suppose." Chu Ci recalled the plot and gave himself an appropriate disguise.
"A magician?" Eragon's eyes shone with envy. In the kingdom, magicians were extremely noble beings. They didn't have to pay taxes, could own their own territories, and could cast wondrous spells and create incredible potions. They were the ruling class just below the Dragon Riders.
Chu Ci tried to put the dragon egg into the colony bug space, but it was judged to be a living being and couldn't be stored. He could only hold it in his hand. Since the plot had started, he had to try to intervene. Looking up and down at Eragon's foolish appearance, Chu Ci stroked his chin, estimating that this kid should be easy to deceive.
"Hey, boy, can you take me to the nearest village? I seem to have lost my way." Chu Ci stood up, putting away some of the alchemical puppets and letting the others move freely around him. Only the martial official and Crimson followed him closely.
"Sure, this way." Eragon's attitude toward Chu Ci became more respectful, due to the status of magicians.
The place they were in was quite taboo. This was the king's forbidden zone, the Spine Mountains, where no one could enter without permission, under penalty of hanging. Eragon didn't mention it, and neither did Chu Ci.
Before dawn, the two followed the path Eragon had used to sneak in and left, entering another map, the smoky village of Carvahall. The village was full of sturdy log buildings with low roofs, some covered with thatch and others with pebbles. Smoke billowed from the chimneys, and the air was filled with the scent of burning wood. The houses had wide porches where people liked to gather to chat and work. As candles and oil lamps were lit one by one, windows would occasionally light up. In the hazy night, the sound of men talking loudly could be heard, and women would hurry forward, scolding them for coming home late. This village, with a population of less than two hundred, was a place where everyone knew each other and helped each other. Some might be stingy, and some might be sharp-tongued, but when one was in trouble, everyone would come to their aid.
Eragon greeted the villagers along the way, his smile never fading.
"Eragon, who's the man behind you?" Seeing Chu Ci, who had been following Eragon, someone couldn't help but ask.
"He's called Chu, a magician."
The news of a magician coming to Carvahall quickly spread through the village and attracted the attention of the king's soldiers stationed there. They were well-equipped, with straight backs and a ridiculous black swan feather on their heads.
"Are you the magician the villagers are talking about?" The king's soldiers looked at Chu Ci with a very bold gaze.
"Yes." Chu Ci didn't care about their looks.
"Where are you from?" The king's soldiers were very averse to Chu Ci's black hair and black eyes, considering them an omen of bad luck.
"From a distant land in the East." Chu Ci used this overused phrase.
"In this kingdom, everyone must submit to King Galbatorix." The king's soldiers issued a warning and then dispersed.
"Oh, really?" Chu Ci chuckled softly. He was here to overthrow the king and bring peace to the kingdom. Of course, the first thing to do was to train this young man into a qualified Dragon Rider.
Chu Ci looked at Eragon helplessly. The boy was mingling with a few villagers, eating and drinking. This wasn't the image of a hero.
PS: I recommend a new novel, "The Invincible Mechanical Pioneer." Wearing a shirt, shorts, carrying a long sword, and wearing flip-flops, the wind blew, and his clothes fluttered, making him look cool and deadly. Transforming into various heroes, leading a mechanical army, traversing multiple universes, tearing apart zombies, punching gods, and stepping on various civilizations.
Damn, this summary is so shameless. (Facepalm)
