Chapter 20: Martial Arts Genius
Lei Hu rolled his eyes; this person gave him a dangerous feeling, but his techniques were indeed lacking. Since he could humble himself and seek advice from him, Lei Hu felt he had to give him this face. Perhaps one day, he would need this young man's help.
This was the benefit of having enhanced strength. When you were strong, even asking for help became much easier.
Lei Hu chuckled, "Alright, I didn't expect you to be so humble, Qian Xiong. I'll introduce you to the Tiger Fist coach. The tuition fee is waived; I still have some face. However, the accommodation and meal expenses are managed by the company—"
These martial arts coaches were quite familiar with each other privately. Introducing a student and giving some private lessons wasn't a big deal, but the accommodation and meal expenses were managed by the boss, so they couldn't make such a request.
Qian Xiong's face lit up. He was indeed in a tight financial situation, so he wouldn't refuse such a good deal as free tuition.
"Brother Lei, thank you so much, thank you so much. I'll take care of the accommodation fees myself."
Qian Xiong felt he no longer fit in with his classmates. The police would eventually come looking for him, and staying together would only put his classmates at risk. The mixed martial arts school was the perfect place for him to lay low.
The Tiger Fist coach Lei Hu introduced him to was named Sun Lihuo. Despite his refined name, he was a disciple of the Black Tiger School.
Qian Xiong had a basic understanding of martial arts and knew that Tiger Fist emphasized intercepting, grabbing, locking, and digging, with the fingers forming a tiger claw. Eagle Claw, on the other hand, only used the thumb, index, and middle fingers, leaving the other two fingers unused.
Qian Xiong's Nine Yin White Bone Claw, however, exercised all ten fingers, making Tiger Fist the best choice for him.
Since Qian Xiong was a familiar face recommended by Lei Hu, Sun Lihuo, despite thinking that Qian Xiong's physique was average and his upper body muscles not particularly developed, still patiently explained the basics of Tiger Fist to him.
Tiger Fist emphasizes body movement, footwork, and leg techniques. As the saying goes, "If you don't practice your legwork, you'll be a dead man even when you're old." Master Wan Lai Sheng's requirements were: the waist should be flexible, the legs should be agile, and the fists and feet should move so swiftly that no one can catch them.
Black Tiger Fist is rich in techniques, with strict hand movements, flexible body movements, agile footwork, deep internal power, and the simultaneous use of hands and legs, making it unpredictable and swift.
Sun Lihuo then demonstrated the entire set of Black Tiger Fist, including the basic hand shapes, hand techniques, palm techniques, body and waist movements, basic footwork, and kicking and striking techniques.
Real-world martial arts were not as easy to learn as the skills in the arena.
In the arena, once you successfully became a disciple, the character would naturally impart the movements of body techniques, footwork, and sword techniques into your mind. Even the most difficult internal skills would automatically show the flow of true qi throughout your body.
Even a pig could learn a considerable amount of skills with just one session.
However, if you lacked a foundation, even learning the combat skills from the arena would only allow you to use them mechanically, far from the level of experienced combatants who could flexibly apply various special techniques learned in the arena.
In reality, martial arts required you to gradually understand and master the subtleties. Once learned, they would become a part of you.
Qian Xiong focused all his energy on his eyes, a skill not learned in the arena.
Immediately, the magical creature's physical abilities came into play.
Qian Xiong's eyes now had at least seven to eight times the discernment of a normal person. When Sun Lihuo demonstrated the Tiger Claw stance, the tendons in his arms stood out, indicating the correct direction of force for the tiger claw.
In Qian Xiong's eyes, Sun Lihuo's movements became incredibly slow, and the changes in his joints and tendons, as well as the different ways of applying force, were clearly visible.
More frighteningly, Qian Xiong remembered almost all the hundreds of subtle changes in Sun Lihuo's hand shapes and footwork.
The larger techniques were not missed at all.
Sun Lihuo spent ten minutes demonstrating the changes in Tiger Fist.
Qian Xiong clapped loudly and then politely bowed to Sun Lihuo, "Teacher Sun, I've remembered some of the techniques. Let me demonstrate, and please correct me."
With that, he began practicing!
Sun Lihuo was initially a bit dismissive; such an eager student was rare.
At first, Qian Xiong's movements were a bit clumsy, but he almost perfectly replicated the techniques Sun Lihuo had demonstrated in ten minutes! Moreover, he even managed to execute some of the finer points of force application!
Sun Lihuo's eyes widened in shock!
Is this guy practicing Tiger Fist for the first time? It took him two years to master the finer points of force application when he became a disciple!
In reality, Qian Xiong's body could imitate muscle movements and force application with unimaginable speed and accuracy!
Some force application methods that Qian Xiong had only simulated in his mind could be used on the first try.
The more he practiced, the more comfortable he felt. Qian Xiong then performed the techniques a second time.
This time, he improved significantly on the mistakes and omissions from the first round!
Then, he did a third round, but there was no further improvement. After all, martial arts techniques had been refined over hundreds, even thousands of years by countless martial artists.
Some of the deeper and more subtle aspects could not be learned without a teacher's guidance.
"Have you never practiced Tiger Fist before?"
Sun Lihuo shook his head. He couldn't believe that this student had never practiced Tiger Fist.
If someone could learn to this level after just one demonstration, all the martial artists in the world might as well commit suicide!
"Oops, I might have shown a bit too much enthusiasm!"
Qian Xiong knew that claiming he could learn everything from one demonstration would be too unbelievable.
"I followed a martial arts master for a few months, but my foundation wasn't solid."
After all, he didn't say he had never practiced Tiger Fist. It was just a way to comfort the young man's ego.
