Chapter 11

Looking up and down at the little Sadako in front of him, Lin Yifan noted that she was about 1.57 meters tall. Her petite figure was perfect for crawling into most household televisions, and her pale skin, though lacking any hint of blood, exuded an unusual beauty.

It was worth mentioning that the little girl's hair was exceptionally long, even longer than the Sadako from *The Ring*. Her long hair hung down to her pert buttocks.

Lin Yifan, who had been in the film industry for many years, was well aware that characters in real-life adaptations often differed from reality. He could accept that the little girl in front of him was indeed Sadako.

Moreover, this world didn't follow the plot of *The Ring*. There were two Sadakos: one who looked like a dinosaur, and the other, the cute one in front of him.

If it was this cute one, things would be much easier.

He picked up the handcuffs and walked over to the little Sadako. "Raise your hands."

Squatting by the bed, the little Sadako, who was flipping through some ancient erotic films, looked up. "Huh?"

"Nothing. Do you want to leave this world with me?" Lin Yifan jingled the handcuffs in his hand.

The little Sadako drifted to the corner of the room with a suspicious and wary look. "What do you want? Didn't I tell you not to come looking for me?"

"Earlier? That phone call?" Lin Yifan vividly remembered that call.

"Yes, that was me pretending," she replied.

Lin Yifan was slightly taken aback and asked, puzzled, "You were pretending? Then who was the Sadako that attacked us?"

"I don't know. Probably those people on the mountain. Thanks to you, I'm finally free!" The excited little Sadako floated around the ceiling, completely unaware that her dress didn't cover her legs.

Lin Yifan glanced at her exposed legs, trying to remain calm. "Pink bow and bear pattern," he muttered to himself.

He shifted his gaze from the little Sadako and looked out the window toward the mountain to the east. "Those people on the mountain?"

At that moment, the rolling Sadako stopped, her expression turning dark and her voice filled with resentment. "Con artists, a group of people with some skills who pretend to help solve supernatural problems to make a living."

"Supernatural con artists? You mean they collect spirits like you to scare and con ordinary people?"

The little Sadako nodded, her fists clenched. "When they found out I had special abilities, they came to make me work for them. But when I refused, they orchestrated a murder to frame me, threw my body into a dry well, and recorded the cursed video tape with my grudge."

"Oh, so it's different from the movie." Lin Yifan listened carefully to Sadako's story, getting a general idea.

"Movie? What's that?"

Sadako floated over, curious, and looked at Lin Yifan.

"Nothing, let's talk about the ugly Sadako who looks like a dinosaur."

The little Sadako, hearing this, angrily floated over and grabbed Lin Yifan's ear. "Don't say bad things about me! That's not me. It's the second spirit they created by copying my video tape. Although it's derived from my grudge, it has nothing to do with me!"

"Then, I have a question."

Lin Yifan's tone became serious, and the little Sadako tilted her head curiously. "Hmm?"

"Is this world painful for you?"

Her beautiful face showed a flash of memory as she quickly recalled her seventeen years as a human. She shook her head and then nodded. "Although I had a hard life and had to perform in the village, and was eventually killed, there were also many beautiful memories. But after death, everything ended, and I even want to forget the memory of being trapped in the video tape."

Lin Yifan jingled the handcuffs. "Come with me."

The little Sadako immediately shrank back, shaking her head. "No way! I just got out, and I haven't taken my revenge yet. I don't want to be locked up in prison!"

"How do you know it's a prison?" Lin Yifan wanted to test her. If the main characters and villains in the story knew he was a warden, it would be a problem. He didn't want to be attacked by both sides as soon as he entered the story.

"How do I know? Because I'm a ghost!" The little Sadako laughed, completely unserious and not like a vengeful spirit.

Lin Yifan's mouth twitched. Her ambiguous response made it hard for him to understand. But his current task was to deal with Sadako, and if persuasion didn't work, he would use force.

"Do you want to get rid of those con artists on the mountain?"

The little Sadako showed her fangs, her face sinister and her voice cold. "Not one of them will be left alive."

"But I guess you can't do it alone. After all, those con artists are very skilled and cunning. What do you think?"

"You're right. They are good at dealing with both ghosts and ordinary people. But I don't want to be caught by you. Bite me!" The little Sadako floated to the ceiling and stuck out her tongue at Lin Yifan.

Lin Yifan smiled confidently. "Then, let's make a deal. I'll help you get rid of them, and you'll come back to prison with me. I promise you won't suffer. At least there's a women's prison."

"Are you serious? I don't believe you. They have the Japanese police protecting them. They are con artists who can operate in both worlds. You? You can only ghostify for fifty seconds, and it's a cheap imitation of my ability. You can handle ordinary ghosts, but them?" The little Sadako looked at him with disdain, not believing he could help.

"That's why it's a deal. If I succeed, you come with me, and I promise there will be no torture. Besides, if I fail, you won't lose anything, right?" Lin Yifan used a persuasive tone, slowly luring the little girl in.

Lin Yifan didn't want to be too forceful. He knew that catching a ghost like her and handcuffing her was impossible. If he pulled out the handcuffs, she might just retreat into the TV. The safest way was to keep her calm and prevent her from running. If he had a chance, he could catch her by surprise.

More importantly, Lin Yifan wasn't like Liu Ming and Yao Ling, who could return after three days. If he failed the trial mission, what would happen to him?

They could stay for three days and leave, but if he scared Sadako away, he would have to spend the next two days chasing ghosts, a futile task.

The little Sadako thought for a long time and then extended her pale hand. "Let's pinky promise."

"Uh... do we have to?" Lin Yifan felt embarrassed making a pinky promise with a little girl.

"Let's pinky promise, or I won't trust you." The little Sadako pouted.

"Alright."

Awkwardly, he extended his hand and hooked his pinky with hers. The little girl's face gradually lit up with a smile.

Her cold, but not stiff, hand felt strange, cold but elastic.

"Hey, new guy."

Suddenly, Yao Ling's voice came from downstairs, along with the sound of bare feet on the wooden stairs.

"Quick, hide!" Lin Yifan pointed to the TV screen.

The little Sadako let go of his hand and quickly disappeared into the TV, which had been turned off.

Before Lin Yifan could take out the video tape, Yao Ling pushed the door open and walked in.

"New guy, what are you doing?"

"Cough, nothing, just dealing with the body."

As Lin Yifan spoke, Yao Ling glanced at the box of ancient erotic films, the fiery covers standing out. She then looked at the body covered by a blanket and smirked. "This way of dealing with a body is quite explosive."

Lin Yifan tried to remain calm, took out a box of ancient Japanese erotic films, and burned it in front of Yao Ling. "No ghosts, no trouble. Rest in peace, Ogasawara."

"Hmph, don't pretend." Yao Ling snorted.

"Hmm?" Lin Yifan's heart skipped a beat. Did Yao Ling know something?

Yao Ling pursed her lips, turned angrily, and then stopped. After a moment of silence, she turned back to Lin Yifan. "You men, you like this stuff, it's disgusting. In a horror world, you still have the mood to watch it. I don't understand what you're thinking. But it's nothing, I just... thank you for today at the lake."

Yao Ling reluctantly said the three words and then turned and walked downstairs.

When Yao Ling was gone, the TV turned on again, and the little Sadako emerged halfway from the screen. "Hey, women are always saying one thing and meaning another."

"You're not a woman either," Lin Yifan shook his head and helped the little Sadako out of the screen.

The little Sadako pouted. "I'm seventeen forever, a girl, not a woman!"

"Alright, let's prepare for tomorrow." Lin Yifan didn't argue with her. Her presence made the horror movie feel more like a cute and silly one. If he continued to argue, he would surely be influenced by her.

"What are you going to do? Charge in?"

Seeing the little Sadako floating around him, Lin Yifan decided to ignore her and stared at the floor, deep in thought.

"By the way, can you copy your grudge into this?" Lin Yifan took out the *Detective Conan* video tape.

"Yes, what for?" Sadako looked at the tape curiously.

"Do more, talk less."

The little Sadako tilted her head. "What's 'talk less'?"

"Nothing, just do more and talk less!"

If they continued, Lin Yifan would surely be driven crazy by this silly ghost.

He pushed the tape toward Sadako, who nodded and raised her right hand, attaching a ball of black mist to the tape.

"Done, what next?"

Lin Yifan didn't want to talk to her anymore. "That's it. By the way, are there any restrictions on ghostifying?"

"Yes, because of the seal, I can only come out once every half day, so you can only use it once every half day. And the ghostifying you use is a shortened version of mine, only lasting fifty seconds." Sadako pointed to the tape in the machine, explaining seriously.

"Is that so?" Lin Yifan bit his thumb, realizing that the ghostifying ability was copied from Sadako, indicating a connection to his hidden profession as a warden.

The little Sadako floated around Lin Yifan, eager. "What should I do now? What do we need to prepare?"

"You? Help me keep watch tonight. We'll talk more tomorrow." ———— Starting next week, two updates per week. Please follow and vote!
