Chapter 47

Hiding in the corner, Lin Yifan watched the eight new arrivals. They were definitely well-prepared!

They all held Uzi submachine guns, MP5s, and other submachine guns, not rifles. In the narrow spaces filled with abandoned vehicles, submachine guns were more practical, compact, and wouldn't hinder their movements.

A general-purpose machine gun like the one the bald, muscular man carried would definitely be unable to move quickly between the vehicles. The gun was too long and could easily get stuck.

The equipment they wore was all from the Infinite City weapon store, with only slight differences in the camouflage and masks.

The combat uniforms of the Steel Front were different from those of the Arbiters, who wore urban camouflage.

The biggest difference, however, was in the steel masks. The symbol of the Arbiters was two blue stripes forming a black knight's sword.

The Steel Front's symbol was much simpler: a red diagonal line crossing two circles of different sizes, representing two circular fortresses on a single front.

The team members who emerged from the dimensional gate stretched their bodies. The leader took six of them and left, while the remaining one approached Lin Yifan: "We are the Steel Front's hunting squad. Tell me the situation here."

The man seemed polite, but his tone was commanding. To him, a low-ranking轮回者 was just an ant that could be crushed at will.

Not knowing if the man was friend or foe, Lin Yifan was cautious: "The situation? I was randomly chased by them, and I don't know what's going on."

"Greenhorn? Where are your teammates? Were they all killed? Which group do you belong to?"

Lin Yifan's eyes darted around, and he nodded quickly: "Yes! My teammates were all killed, but... I'm not sure. I think they were from the Sudashou leadership?"

The eyes behind the steel mask narrowed, and the man stood up: "Alright, I understand the situation. No wonder the data fluctuations here have been abnormal recently. You can leave, if you want to live."

As soon as he finished speaking, a bullet whizzed past Lin Yifan's head, hitting the standing team member.

He grunted and fell backward, quickly rolling toward Lin Yifan and cursing: "Damn, almost got ambushed."

The team member leaned against a car, took out a spray bottle, and sprayed the wound to stop the bleeding. Then, he picked up his submachine gun and started to move out, ignoring Lin Yifan completely.

Crouching on the ground, Lin Yifan peeked around. Being treated as a bystander suited him just fine. Why not let the two groups fight it out?

Using the cars for cover, Lin Yifan, with his shifty eyes, watched the battle and flanked the Arbiters from behind.

The fighting was intense, and with Nan Lixiang occasionally firing from a distance, the Arbiters, despite their numerical advantage, were temporarily suppressed!

Nan Lixiang didn't know what the Steel Front's轮回者 were, but since they were fighting the "terrorists," she decided not to interfere with them for the time being.

Bullets flew and ricocheted off the street, shattering windows and greenery. The walls were riddled with bullet holes, and the sound of gunfire was deafening.

Crouching, Lin Yifan approached the轮回者 killed by Nan Lixiang. Seeing that he was already dead, Lin Yifan didn't bother to take him back.

He needed to conserve his bullets, so he put the P90 back in his backpack and took the gun and ammunition from the dead轮回者. As he was looting the body, Lin Yifan's eyes suddenly lit up.

He pinched two flashbangs in his hand, a perfect tool for ambushes.

After taking everything from the dead轮回者, Lin Yifan quietly followed the line of cars.

The fifteen Arbiters were being suppressed by the eight Steel Front members, who had scattered into several residential yards. They also had to deal with Nan Lixiang's sniping, making the situation increasingly frustrating for the bald, muscular man, who took out his phone.

"Team leader, you..."

"Use it, then. Better than dying here. Those damn things have noses sharper than dogs. They're not even hunting their new recruits, damn it!" The bald, muscular man spat out a mouthful of blood.

Little Third, hiding behind a wall, peeked through a bullet hole: "It's probably because we've entered this cycle multiple times. If another group did the same, they'd find it strange too."

"Can't worry about that now. We don't have much ammo left. Let's just sweep them once more."

The bald, muscular man took out his phone and tapped the [Aerial Support] button.

From a distance, Lin Yifan, hiding between the cars, suddenly heard something. Following the sound, he saw two black dots on the horizon, moving quickly and getting closer.

"Huh? Could it be the Self-Defense Force's armed helicopters?"

At that moment, Lin Yifan noticed that several Steel Front members suddenly froze, then started to flee. Some of them had somehow obtained rocket launchers with portable anti-aircraft missiles.

Lin Yifan was stunned. These so-called hunting teams used weapons that were incredibly expensive. A regular high-ranking轮回者的 reward wouldn't be enough to buy them even after dozens of cycles!

"Wait... they're aiming the rocket launchers at the incoming helicopters?"

Suddenly, Lin Yifan realized something was wrong and waved his hand at Nan Lixiang, signaling her to get down!

Nan Lixiang, lying on the ground, was confused. She didn't look back, thinking the helicopters were on their side.

When Nan Lixiang finally turned around, she was shocked to see that the two helicopters were not police or Self-Defense Force helicopters, but unidentified armed helicopters!

Nan Lixiang immediately reacted, grabbing her sniper rifle and diving down. As she landed on the rooftop, a burst of large-caliber machine gun fire tore through the billboard.

It was torn, not penetrated!

The terrifying tearing effect of the large-caliber bullets was evident on the billboard. If it had been a human, they would have been shredded into pieces.

Seeing Nan Lixiang disappear from the rooftop, Lin Yifan breathed a sigh of relief, but then he saw a large group of Japanese police officers arriving just below the armed helicopter.

Shaking his head, Lin Yifan thought, "Why now, of all times..."

The armed helicopter seemed to have a fixed route, firing as it went. Whether dead or alive, the Japanese police officers in the patrol cars were instantly turned into meat paste, splattering the entire interior. Some cars were completely destroyed.

Bullets rained down, and Lin Yifan could clearly see the tracer rounds falling like rain, penetrating walls and igniting flammable items inside. Wooden roofs were set on fire.

The Steel Front members had to scatter, and the more agile ones immediately dove into the sewers.

However, not everyone had such quick reflexes or good luck. One member, unable to open the sewer lid in time, was instantly turned into a pile of meat paste. Bulletproof vests and helmets were no match for large-caliber bullets.

Hiding on the side, Lin Yifan squinted as the armed helicopter passed by without firing at the Arbiters. Clearly, it wasn't a Self-Defense Force helicopter but one called in by the Arbiters.

Two Steel Front members, hiding behind a wall, aimed their rocket launchers at the incoming armed helicopter and laughed: "Let's make you pay for the insurance!"

The heat flow propelled the small missile, and an anti-aircraft missile whistled through the blue sky. In just a few seconds, a brilliant explosion bloomed in the sky, followed by a thunderous boom.

Boom!

At that moment, Lin Yifan's worldview was shattered. Watching the scene, which resembled a Black Hawk Down, was utterly insane.

Lin Yifan suddenly understood why Yao Ling and the others joined a group and paid the group fees.

In this completely unbalanced world, without a backing, how could ordinary轮回者 resist a group of such well-equipped轮回者? They would be easily slaughtered.

Another helicopter roared overhead, snapping Lin Yifan out of his shock.

However, this helicopter wasn't an armed one but a transport helicopter.

Several ammunition crates were dropped from the sky, supplying the scattered轮回者 in different yards.

"Even air drops... They're like RMB warriors..."

As he sneaked around to the back of a small yard, Lin Yifan muttered, his eyes on the Arbiters opening the crates and taking the supplies.
