Chapter 40

If Fen had said he was going to give a lecture before the arm-wrestling match with Lei Qiang, Lei and Gu would probably have sneered at him. But now, they were half-believing and half-doubting, barely holding back their objections.

After all, having strong arms only proved that one could hold a gun steadily; everything else needed to be seen to be believed. There were many strong players in the Flying Tigers who were good with guns, so the little trick Fen had just shown only made Lei and Gu half-convinced.

The military off-road vehicle drove into the SDU compound and did not stop, directly crossing the square and reaching the edge of the lawn.

A team was doing shuttle runs on the lawn. Seeing the off-road vehicle approach, the leader, Li Feng, immediately shouted, "Everyone, assemble!"

Fen jumped out of the car, came to Li Feng's side, and saluted, saying, "Inspector Li, I've heard a lot about you!"

Li Feng, who had been promoted to senior inspector two years ago, was half a rank above Fen. He had a short, flat head, with a face that was nine-tenths rugged and one-tenth gentle, and a straight nose that gave him a sharp and prominent look. He was about 31 or 32 years old, the chief instructor of the entire Special Task Force, and the commander of Team A.

Hearing Fen's words, Li Feng's face rarely showed a smile, "Aren't you the one I've heard a lot about, Alan?" He leaned closer to Fen and said, "I've already seen the video from Xiong's Noodle Shop. Your gun handling is really impressive!"

Fen smiled ambiguously and didn't say anything more.

Li Feng continued, "Alan, it's time for our Team A's theory class. Are you interested in showing off your skills?"

At these words, all the team members looked at Fen with eager eyes, ready to challenge him.

"Sure!" Fen said without hesitation, "I know some of you might not want to listen to me, or even plan to challenge me, but I have to say that a true top-tier special operations personnel should have the temperament and character of being reserved and unassuming." As he said this, he glanced at Li Feng.

Li Feng was slightly taken aback and instantly understood the meaning behind Fen's glance. This was a reminder that he was too sharp and direct, which made him a bit angry inside.

"Alright," Fen continued, "Inspector Li, it's not time yet. I think it's better to wait until the theory class starts."

Fen's evasive response left Li Feng stunned. Looking at the team members who seemed at a loss, he suddenly realized that he and his entire team had unknowingly fallen into Fen's rhythm.

This made Li Feng somewhat annoyed, but he couldn't openly pick a fight with Fen. He could only let it go and had to say to the whole team, "Rest in place for ten minutes, then we'll start the theory class."

Fen walked to Li Feng's side and, looking at his Glock 17, said enviously, "Inspector Li, your Flying Tigers are really good, already equipped with the Glock 17."

"Not 'already,' but 'for a long time,'" Li Feng corrected, "The Special Task Force has been using Glocks since the early 1990s."

Fen was taken aback and pouted, "Unfortunately, we in the Serious Crime Unit are still using the .38!"

Li Feng patted his shoulder and said, "Do you want to go to the shooting range and fire a few rounds?"

Fen waved his hand, "Firing a few rounds would only whet my appetite. I can't touch them every day, so I'll pass."

"Why don't you transfer to our Flying Tigers? Then you can be equipped with the Glock 17," Li Feng said half-jokingly. Honestly, he really wanted to learn Fen's gun handling skills.

Fen smiled bitterly, "The rules in the Flying Tigers are much stricter than in the Serious Crime Unit. I'm afraid I can't handle that kind of discipline!" After saying this, he waved to Li Feng and walked over to Gu Houyi, who was fiddling with an SR-25 sniper rifle.

Gu Houyi clearly had no good intentions and offered the rifle, "Inspector Fen, do you want to try?"

"I'd love to, but this isn't the field, and your rifle has a magazine but no bullets."

This left Gu Houyi speechless. Seizing the opportunity, Fen casually took the rifle and aimed around like it was a regular rifle. The sudden action annoyed Gu Houyi, but seeing Fen aim around with the sniper rifle in a very unprofessional manner, he grinned.

After all, although the SR-25 sniper rifle was slightly lighter than the MSG90, it still weighed over five kilograms with the magazine and scope. In actual combat, such a heavy sniper rifle was usually supported by a bipod to ensure accuracy at long range. Seeing Fen hold the SR-25 like a regular rifle, Gu Houyi couldn't help but shout, "Inspector Fen, this is a sniper rifle, not a regular rifle!"

The Flying Tigers, hearing this, looked over and saw Fen's actions, and couldn't help but cover their mouths and laugh.

Li Feng also found Fen's actions somewhat absurd and smiled, but he soon stopped. As Fen held the SR-25 and moved it around, aiming at various imaginary targets, his arms showed no tremor, not even a slight shake.

Li Feng even had a strange feeling that the SR-25 seemed weightless in Fen's hands. Soon, the observant Ji Moxi and Gu Houyi also noticed this. Then, the entire team realized Fen's extraordinary strength, leaving them in shock.

After playing around for about seven or eight minutes, when Fen handed the rifle back to Gu Houyi, he couldn't help but say, "Inspector Fen, you must be the person with the strongest arm strength I've ever seen."

Fen shook his finger, "That's not much. For a two-person sniper team, the goal should be to use the sniper rifle like a regular rifle, allowing for a quick retreat after a surprise attack. Therefore, appropriate arm strength is essential."

Gu Houyi and Ji Moxi, who often served as spotters, were speechless.

Fen continued, "Of course, I'm talking about the battlefield. If it's just a peaceful city, the current quality of the Flying Tigers is sufficient as long as it's maintained."

This was a factual statement, but it ignited the anger of the Flying Tigers, including Li Feng. "So, Alan, are you saying your quality is far superior to ours?"

Fen shrugged, "I didn't say that, but if Inspector Li insists on thinking that way, it's fine."

Li Feng, who was not easily convinced, immediately said, "Oh? Since you say that, after the theory class, we have an hour of physical training. How about joining us?"

Fen, not backing down, said, "I think we should switch the order. Let's start the physical training now and have the theory class later."

This was a tough call for Li Feng, as the training schedule was set and couldn't be changed arbitrarily. He had to look at the team members, as the principle of "the law does not punish the many" applied. If the team members strongly requested it, a one-time change was feasible.

Sure enough, Gu Houyi led the charge, "Brothers, let's start the physical training now and include Inspector Fen, okay?"

"Agreed!"

"Sure!"

"No problem!"

The team members responded enthusiastically.

Seeing this, Fen smiled, "I can't refuse such enthusiasm. I'll join you!" He paused and added, "But Inspector Li, I haven't worked with any of you before, so team coordination might be an issue."

"Of course!" Li Feng said calmly, "If you fall behind or get ahead, I won't interfere, and I'm sure the team members won't mind."

"Alright!"

Li Feng said no more, waved his hand, and all the team members immediately rushed into the building. Three minutes later, they returned fully equipped. On the other side, Li Feng's deputy had also prepared a full set of equipment for Fen, helping him put it on.

After Fen was properly equipped, he stood at the back of the line. Li Feng immediately said, "Today's physical training is a five-kilometer cross-country run, followed by obstacle crossing, then two-person teams going to the rooftop and rappelling down, and finally firing ten rounds each from a pistol, rifle, and sniper rifle. The results will be included in the assessment!"

Hearing this, all the Flying Tigers groaned inwardly. Normally, they would have complained loudly, but with Fen, an outsider, present, no one voiced their complaints.

"The turnaround point is 2.5 kilometers away. Go!"

At Li Feng's command, Team A set off. Before they had run half a kilometer, Fen had already moved from the back to the front and was sprinting ahead.

Seeing this, Li Feng, standing on the off-road vehicle, couldn't help but laugh to the driver, "I hope our Serious Crime Unit elite can keep up with this pace. If he embarrasses himself, it will be awkward to meet him again!"

The Flying Tigers, however, thought the opposite. They hoped Fen would embarrass himself, as it would be entertaining.

Unfortunately, as the training progressed, the Flying Tigers began to feel the pressure from Fen. At about 1.7 kilometers, Li Feng, who was in the vehicle, spotted Fen through the binoculars.

At 1.8 kilometers, Fen and the rest of Team A passed each other, with Fen running back to the starting point, seemingly at the same speed as when he started.

"Damn, is this a lap?"

"Is Inspector Fen a superman?"

"Damn, we're going to be embarrassed today."

The Flying Tigers kept discussing in the team, and the leading groups even sped up. Li Feng was also surprised by Fen's speed but not overly so, as he could also do such a fast cross-country run once or twice. However, he believed no one could maintain such a pace for long, and Fen was likely just showing off.

So, when they reached the turnaround point, Li Feng specifically asked the timekeeper about Fen's time.

"Report, Sir, Inspector Fen's time is 7 minutes and 7 seconds!"

This shocked both Li Feng and the driver. The men's 3000-meter world record is around 7 minutes and 21 seconds, and Fen had run 2500 meters in the wild, carrying a load, in just 7 minutes and a few seconds. He could have easily participated in the Olympics!

But the events that followed were even more shocking. The vehicle had only driven back about 1.5 kilometers from the turnaround point when they encountered the fully equipped Fen again.

Li Feng couldn't help but shout, "Alan, where are you going?"

"Back to the turnaround point!" Fen panted and continued running.

The driver couldn't help but say, "Inspector Li, isn't Inspector Fen planning to do a ten-kilometer cross-country run from the start?"

Shocked, Li Feng shook his head, "I'm not sure about that!"
