The car pulled up to the building where Zhongzhao Pavilion was located. Ling Shu, while unbuckling her seatbelt, asked, "Do you want to come up to my place for a while?" As she said this, a mischievous glint flashed in her beautiful eyes.
Fei Lun waved his hand and said, "It's so late, I don't want to disturb you."
Ling Shu gave him a flirtatious look and said deliberately, "Then I'll return your coat!" As she spoke, she started to take off the coat covering her body.
A surge of heat rose in Fei Lun's heart. He grabbed Ling Shu's hand and said, "I'll go up with you, so I can get my coat back."
Ling Shu smiled charmingly and said, "That's more like it!"
The elevator was almost empty at this late hour. Fei Lun and Ling Shu stood close together, their bodies brushing against each other, creating a rather intimate atmosphere. As the floor numbers increased, so did Fei Lun's desire.
When they reached the tenth floor, Ling Shu turned toward the door at the northeast corner. She glanced back at Fei Lun, who seemed somewhat eager, with a mischievous look, and then took out her keys to open the door. "Nuan Nuan, we have a guest, bring out an extra pair of slippers!" Fei Lun, who was about to step in, froze in place.
Not long after, a clear and delicate voice came from the stairs of the duplex: "Coming, coming... Mommy, why are you back so late today?"
Following this, a girl, no more than eleven or twelve years old, wearing a pink knee-length dress, ran to the door. She looked pure and adorable, bearing a seven or eight-tenths resemblance to Ling Shu.
No need to ask, this was definitely Mrs. Ling's daughter. Fei Lun instantly suppressed half of the lust in his heart. With her daughter around, what could he do? He could only take it one step at a time.
The girl, seeing Fei Lun, was clearly surprised. She put down the slippers and asked, "Mommy, who is this?"
Ling Shu smiled and said, "Oh, this is my colleague, Fei Lun. Bing'er, call him Uncle Fei!"
"Call him Uncle?" Bing'er's eyes were full of surprise. She pouted at Fei Lun, "Hey, how old are you? You can't be more than a year older than me, right?"
This girl's words and actions seemed mature yet not quite mature. Fei Lun, feeling helpless, decided to tease her. While changing his shoes, he gave a wolfish grin and said, "Bing'er, how old are you? I might be dozens of years older than you!"
"Hmph, don't you know that age is a woman's, especially a beautiful woman's, secret?" Bing'er sniffed, seemingly a bit angry. She turned her head away and ignored Fei Lun, saying to Ling Shu, "Mommy, I'll draw the bath, you can wash up too!" She then ignored the male coat on Ling Shu and headed straight for the bathroom.
This detail surprised Fei Lun, who was observant. He wondered if Bing'er was pretending not to notice or if she really hadn't noticed. If the former, then Mrs. Ling's daughter was incredibly precocious.
"Ai Lun, Bing'er is only ten, don't take it to heart," Ling Shu said, inviting Fei Lun to sit down. "I'll go upstairs to change, and I'll make you some coffee later." With that, she gracefully left.
Fei Lun leaned back on the sofa, casually observing the furnishings in Ling Shu's home. He didn't see any photos of a couple, which puzzled him. Just as he was wondering, Bing'er returned to the living room. "Eh? Brother Ai Lun, where's Mommy?"
"She went upstairs," Fei Lun replied without turning his head. "Bing'er, it's almost eleven, why aren't you asleep yet?"
"Hmph, don't think I don't know what you're up to. Want to seduce my mommy? Not a chance!" Bing'er sniffed again. "Anyway, it's Sunday tomorrow, I can stay up as late as I want."
Actually, Fei Lun wasn't trying to seduce Ling Shu; he just wanted to take advantage of the situation. But being seen through by a ten-year-old girl almost choked him. After regaining his composure, he warned, "Bing'er, don't you know that staying up late is bad for a woman's skin?"
Bing'er wasn't so easily fooled. She sniffed, "If I can keep an eye on a big pervert, staying up late for a day or two is no big deal."
Fei Lun was speechless but asked knowingly, "Big pervert? Who?"
"Whoever asks is who." With that, Bing'er ignored Fei Lun and went upstairs to find Ling Shu.
Fei Lun felt extremely frustrated. It wasn't until much later that he learned that since her ex-husband's death, Ling Shu's home had rarely seen a single young male visitor. The male colleagues who came over were either old or came in groups, which was why Bing'er was immediately wary of Fei Lun.
Soon, Ling Shu and Bing'er came downstairs. It was unclear what Ling Shu had said to Bing'er, but she ran up to Fei Lun and gave him a thumbs-up. "Brother Ai Lun is a hero, he helped Mommy drive away the bad guy!"
Fei Lun was stunned. Ling Shu, wearing a bright yellow robe, covered her mouth and laughed. "Ai Lun, sit for a bit longer. I need to wash up again! Oh, your coat is a bit dirty, I'll take it to the dry cleaner's tomorrow and return it to you!" Without waiting for Fei Lun's response, she went into the bathroom.
Bing'er poured a glass of water and brought it to Fei Lun. "Brother Ai Lun, I wronged you earlier, here's some water."
Fei Lun was embarrassed. The little girl hadn't wronged him at all. He stood up and said, "Bing'er, it's late, Uncle needs to go. Can you say goodbye to your mom for me?"
"Sure, Brother Ai Lun!" Bing'er said seriously.
The term "brother" hurt Fei Lun. It seemed that Bing'er was still wary of him and was trying to create a generational gap between him and Ling Shu. Her intentions were quite malicious! However, Fei Lun had no good way to counter this and could only leave Ling Shu's home in frustration.
Watching Fei Lun enter the elevator, Bing'er's face showed a demonic smile. "Want to compete with me for Mommy? Not a chance. A little soft and hard pressure, and the big pervert ran away!"
Back at his home in Shallow Water Bay, Fei Lun vented his frustration on Yoko and Kiko, tormenting the two maids until they were exhausted. It wasn't until three in the morning that he finally stopped.
It must be said that in the world of assassins, taking on a hit job is easy, but finding the target is far more difficult than one might imagine. Therefore, even after a month of the one-billion-yuan bounty for Ma Huazhi's assassination, no one had completed the task.
United States, New York.
Ma Huazhi and Li Yifeng had been in the United States for over two weeks, traveling from the West Coast to the East Coast without any signs of discomfort. Today, they planned to explore New York City and then watch an underground boxing match in the evening.
"Yifeng, where's my breakfast? Call and check!" Ma Huazhi shouted from the balcony of the presidential suite. "Damn it, when I get rich, I'll go back to HK and take care of that Fei guy."
"Sure, Master Ma, I'll call right away!" Li Yifeng responded from a distance and walked to the landline. Unexpectedly, just as he picked up the phone, the doorbell rang.
"Who is it?"
"Room service."
Li Yifeng, not suspecting anything, opened the door.
A bearded man dressed as a waiter pushed a cart past Li Yifeng into the room. As Li Yifeng closed the door, the man suddenly turned around, one hand covering Li Yifeng's mouth and the other grabbing the back of his head, twisting it violently.
"Crack!"
Li Yifeng's head turned almost 150 degrees. The bearded man let go, and Li Yifeng's eyes rolled back as he fell to the ground with a thud.
Hearing the commotion, Ma Huazhi was about to go in to investigate when he was greeted by the black barrel of a Glock 18.
Facing the cold, bloodthirsty gaze of the bearded man, Ma Huazhi was almost scared to death. "Bro, what do you want? Robbery? I'll give you money, just don't kill me!" He fumbled for his wallet.
The bearded man grinned wickedly. "I don't want your money or your life. Cuff yourself!" He threw two pairs of handcuffs at Ma Huazhi's feet.
"You, you want to kidnap me? Okay, okay, I'll cooperate, I'll fully cooperate!" Ma Huazhi picked up the handcuffs and cuffed his feet, then his left hand. Before he could ask for help, the bearded man quickly cuffed his right hand and kicked him in the groin.
"Ow!"
Ma Huazhi let out a muffled scream as he flew across the room. The bearded man took a small needle box from under the cart, removed a syringe, and walked toward Ma Huazhi, who was rolling on the floor.
"What, what do you want to do?" Ma Huazhi was in pain, anger, and fear, but no one answered his cries.
"Ma Huazhi?" The bearded man asked in broken Chinese.
Ma Huazhi, holding his leg and leaning against the wall, said, "Bro, I, I'm Ma Huazhi, but I don't think I've offended you, have I?"
The bearded man squeezed some unknown liquid from the syringe and sneered. "You haven't offended me, but you've offended money!" He injected the syringe into Ma Huazhi's neck.
"Thud!"
Just as he was about to inject Ma Huazhi, the bearded man heard the distant sound of a sniper rifle.
"Damn!"
The bearded man cursed and reached for Ma Huazhi.
"Thud!"
Before he could move Ma Huazhi, the sniper rifle fired again.
"Bang!" "Bang!"
Two shots rang out. The first bullet left a large hole in the wall behind Ma Huazhi, and the second bullet blew off the top of his head. The pimply-faced Ma Huazhi didn't even have time to scream before he died.
The bearded man was splattered with Ma Huazhi's brain matter but didn't feel disgusted. He quickly hid in a corner and cursed, "Damn, two shots and a billion yuan gone. Whoever did this, I won't let it go!"
The next morning, in HK, the Ma family.
"What?! Zhi'er was sniped!" Hearing the news, Ma Guolun dropped the phone in shock.
Ma Guojin, who had just come down the stairs, saw Ma Guolun's dazed expression and asked, "Second brother, what's wrong? Did something happen at the company?"
"Big brother!" Ma Guolun cried out in sorrow. "Zhi'er, Zhi'er he..."
