The middle-aged teacher walked to the corner of the hallway, took out a BlackBerry phone, and dialed a number. The number he dialed was 110. Indeed, the middle-aged teacher was a good citizen, and his first thought in times of trouble was to seek help from the police.
...
The class ended quickly, and the middle-aged teacher did not reappear until the end. No one knew where he had gone. Wang Bo wondered if Ma Xiaonan's brother had come, and why there was no commotion outside. Or had her brother silently taken care of that weird uncle and buried the body?
Wang Bo patted his head and looked at Zhao Xiaotao, who had been hiding like an ostrich for the entire class. He then reached out and touched Zhao Xiaotao's shoulder, saying, "Xiao Tao, wake up. If you sleep any longer, the sun will burn your butt."
Zhao Xiaotao lifted his head without acknowledging Wang Bo. Instead, he packed up his books on his own. After finishing, he still ignored Wang Bo and quickly walked out of the classroom with his head down.
Wang Bo stared with his mouth open at Zhao Xiaotao as he left. He thought to himself that he seemed to have been ignored. Well, even if his charm had increased today, it wouldn't be enough to win a beauty's heart in one day. He needed to be prepared for a long struggle. At least he had taken a big step forward.
Wang Bo took a book from the desk and walked out. He took the book not to review his lessons or do homework, but to wipe his butt. Okay, Wang Bo was very poor, so poor that he couldn't afford toilet paper. He found that tearing a page from the school-issued book, crumpling it into a ball, and then flattening it made for a very comfortable wipe.
Wang Bo walked along the tree-lined path on campus, rolled up his sleeve, and saw that the blood on the bandage around his arm had dried. He tried moving it, but there was no pain at all. He wondered if he had healed in just one class.
Thinking this, Wang Bo carefully untied the bandage, being cautious not to tear it in case the wound was still serious and he needed to rewrap it.
Seeing that his arm had no trace of injury, Wang Bo was so surprised that his mouth dropped open. Although he had been prepared, the realization that he had superhuman healing abilities still left him in awe. For a moment, Batman, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Ultraman flashed through his mind. Could he have become one of them?
Looking around, he saw that the students were all on their way, and no one was paying attention to him. He then threw the bloodstained bandage into a nearby flower bed.
"Wang Bo!" Someone called out to Wang Bo, and the voice was full of energy.
Hearing the voice, Wang Bo immediately guessed who it was. It was his best friend from elementary school to high school, the only one who had accompanied him through all these years. His name was Wang Ye, and he was as wild as his name suggested.
Wang Bo also remembered the angry roar that came from the crowd when his arm was hit. Damn, it must have been Wang Ye's howl. To be hit by his own friend, that was really bad luck.
Wang Bo thought about it and realized that among the people he knew, only Wang Ye had the strength of a bull. In elementary school, he could carry a hundred-pound sack by himself. In middle school, he became the undisputed top enforcer in their small gang. Who was the second enforcer? The second enforcer was Wang Bo. Don't underestimate Wang Bo's scrawny frame; he was a fighter who would go all out in a fight.
What was puzzling was that after entering high school, the top and second enforcers, Wang Ye and Wang Bo, became much more subdued. They no longer formed gangs or caused trouble.
Wang Bo didn't know why Wang Ye had changed, but he himself had calmed down because he was tired. On the day of their middle school graduation, seeing his classmates go their separate ways, Wang Bo realized that being a troublemaker was not the right path. To have a future, he needed to... study hard and make progress every day!
The fact proved that Wang Bo had indeed had an epiphany, and it was a true enlightenment. Why? Because after a week of studying hard in high school, he became lazy again. Was it a sudden enlightenment or a long-term one? Sudden enlightenment is a moment of clarity, and after that moment, everything fades away. Wang Bo's moment lasted a whole week, which was pretty good.
Despite being lazy, Wang Bo didn't cause any more trouble. The main reason wasn't that he had reformed, but that he couldn't stir up trouble without his friends' support. Being a subordinate was something Wang Bo was unwilling to do. So, at No. 5 High School, there was a student named Wang Bo who neither studied nor caused trouble, just waiting for his high school diploma.
"Damn, Wang Ye, you almost killed me today, you know that?" Wang Bo, seeing his best friend, spoke more casually and scolded with a laugh.
"What? When did I hit you? I did fight today, but I didn't see you." Wang Ye, as his name suggested, was a formidable figure. At 1.9 meters tall, he stood out in No. 5 High School, which was not a sports school. Despite his height, he was not a thin stick but more like a pillar, though not quite reaching the heavens, his presence was enough to scare babies into silence.
"I didn't see you either, but I heard your roar. Then I saw a table leg fly out of the crowd and hit my arm. Damn, it almost broke my arm." Wang Bo said with an exaggerated and fearful expression.
"Ha ha, that's a shame. It's a pity it didn't break your arm." Wang Ye scratched his head and laughed foolishly.
"Go to hell. If my arm had really broken, I would have taken off your two long legs, no, I would have taken off your third leg." Wang Bo stared at Wang Ye's lower body with a mischievous look in his eyes.
"Don't, don't. By the way, which arm did I hit? I can't see any injury." Wang Ye looked at Wang Bo's right arm, which was unblemished, and then at his left arm, which also showed no signs of injury.
"It's fine now. The wound has healed. Look, that's the bandage I just took off." Wang Bo pointed to the bloodstained bandage that had fallen on a flower.
Wang Ye looked at the bandage, then at Wang Bo's smooth, unblemished right arm, and said with disbelief, "Are you kidding me?"
"Why would I kid you? Believe it or not, by the way, didn't you say two years ago that you were going to quit fighting? Why did you start again today?" Wang Bo asked, recalling the scene of the crowd surrounding Wang Ye during the break. He also carefully examined Wang Ye to see if he had been injured, though he had absolute confidence in his friend, he still needed to show concern.
"Ah, I'm back in the game. Those bastards were too much, and I needed to teach them a lesson. Besides, we graduate in two months, and then I'll be free." Wang Ye said nonchalantly.
Wang Bo was confused by Wang Ye's words. What did this have to do with graduating from high school? "Graduate? What's so special about graduating from high school? How does being free relate to fighting?" Wang Bo asked, knowing that his best friend would always be honest with him, and they had no secrets between them.
Wang Bo guessed that there was a reason why Wang Ye had said he would quit fighting two years ago. He didn't blame Wang Ye for not telling him the reason, as he hadn't asked at the time.
"It's related. After graduation, I'll be free to do as I please. I need to stay active before graduation, or I'll get rusty. By the way, I never told you, but the reason I've been so restrained in high school is because of my old man. He said I need to calm down as I grow up, or I won't be able to do big things in the future." Wang Ye said, cracking his knuckles and stretching his limbs.
"Damn, that doesn't make sense. After you graduate from high school, you'll be even older, and your old man won't let you run wild." Wang Bo pointed out the flaw in Wang Ye's logic and asked his question.
"What doesn't make sense? After high school, my old man won't control me anymore. He said I need to calm down for three years of high school, and after graduation, I can do whatever I want. But I have to achieve something significant before I turn thirty, at least half of what he has." Wang Ye answered.
Understanding the situation, Wang Bo looked at Wang Ye, who was as strong as a pillar, and shook his head. "I think it's hard, very hard, extremely hard, harder than climbing to the sky."
"Damn, brother, are you trying to discourage me? I know it's hard, but how will we know if we don't try? He always says we're no good. If we don't make a name for ourselves, won't we be looked down upon by that old man?" Wang Ye put his arm around Wang Bo's small frame, pulling him close and speaking intimately.
"Cut it out, the old man still values me. Do you think I don't know that?" Wang Bo struggled but couldn't break free from the iron-like arm, so he gave up. However, he was worried that he might be mistaken for a submissive.
"Alright, alright, let's go. We'll have a meal to celebrate our return to the game. You're buying this time." Wang Ye supported Wang Bo and walked toward the school gate.
"What do you mean 'we'? It's just you returning to the game. And why should I pay?" As the two figures grew smaller, Wang Bo's voice grew fainter.
