As the sun set, the afterglow of the sunset spread over the land of El Village, casting a hazy veil over the entire village. The smoke from the chimneys made El Village appear particularly peaceful and harmonious. A white puppy lay basking in the sunlight, looking lazy and content. In this harmonious environment, three men were having an uneasy conversation.
"Tonight's training will be to touch that dead dog's head," Adi said through gritted teeth, pointing at the cute puppy basking in the sun, as he spoke to Wu Yi.
"Are you kidding me? You want me to do such a stupid thing?" Wu Yi looked at Adi with some difficulty. He had been relentlessly attacking the training rock since this morning, enduring hunger and fatigue until he finally shattered the hard rock before dinner. Wu Yi then ate several adult-sized portions, which made Adi repeatedly praise Wu Yi for having half his appetite.
After eating, Wu Yi, feeling both physically and mentally exhausted, was about to rest when Adi dragged him over for night training. The training content was simply to touch a puppy's head, which Wu Yi found hard to accept.
"If you can touch that dead dog's head tonight, I'll give you 100 gold coins," Adi tempted Wu Yi when he saw that Wu Yi was unwilling to follow his instructions.
"If I touch that dog's head, you'll really give me 100 gold coins?" Wu Yi confirmed the bet again, fearing that Adi might renege.
"Brother, I never go back on my word, and I won't deceive you. Nike can vouch for me," Adi immediately pulled Nike over to testify when he heard Wu Yi question his credibility.
"Although Adi likes to talk nonsense and isn't very reliable, his promises are generally trustworthy. It's all due to the influence of his brother," Nike joked.
"Alright, I'll reluctantly accept your 100 gold coins. Who can resist such kindness?" Despite knowing that this wasn't going to be simple, Wu Yi still agreed to Adi's request. He was confident that his invisibility skill, Swift Step, could handle a puppy.
Wu Yi took the pieces of meat Adi handed him and walked lightly toward the puppy with its eyes closed, ready to test the situation.
Watching Wu Yi's back, Nike shook his head and sighed, looking at him like a martyr. "I'm starting to feel sorry for little Wu Yi. Adi, you're a real scoundrel, imposing your miserable fate on others. Wu Yi really has bad luck, and I can't bear to see his tragic end."
"Nike, you should know that only those who have experienced all kinds of hardships can become strong. For Wu Yi's own good, I have to do this. This will not only toughen him up but also make him more agile and nimble. In this light, I'm really a rare good person, and I'm even moved by my own kindness," Adi started talking nonsense again.
Wu Yi carefully approached the puppy, always on guard for any sudden changes. Adi's strange behavior put a lot of pressure on Wu Yi.
The cute puppy sensed someone approaching and opened its eyes warily, sizing up the newcomer.
Wu Yi noticed that this puppy was more like a small wolf. Its silver-white fur was unforgettable, with not a single other hair, and its majestic appearance suggested it would grow into a handsome and powerful white wolf.
Wu Yi squatted down, showing a friendly smile to lower the wolf's guard, and then extended a finger to gently tease the white wolf.
The little sprite also flew from Wu Yi's shoulder to the front of the wolf, saying with an innocent face, "Little doggy, be good!"
The wolf actually lowered its head and rubbed against the sprite, even licking its face with its tongue, making the sprite giggle.
Seeing that the wolf had no special reaction, Wu Yi offered the meat in his hand. The wolf obediently lowered its head to eat the meat from Wu Yi's palm, showing no guard against Wu Yi.
After finishing the meat, the wolf licked Wu Yi's palm with its small tongue. Wu Yi gently stroked its head, making it close its eyes in comfort and let out a soft "woof."
Wu Yi was surprised that he had achieved his goal so easily, with no difficulty at all.
"You're so white, I'll call you Xiao Bai, okay?" Wu Yi's naming skills were really not impressive.
The wolf, now called Xiao Bai, seemed very pleased with the name, calling out happily. Thus, the majestic wolf had a rather common name.
"Xiao Bai, I'm the little sprite," the sprite introduced itself, only to be licked in the face again, making its fur stick to its face in a comical way, which made Wu Yi laugh heartily.
Wu Yi didn't know that Adi and Nike were watching him play with the wolf so smoothly, and they were utterly stunned.
"Too fake, too fake. My worldview and values are completely overturned. Has this dead dog completely changed its nature and become gentle and sensible?" Adi muttered to himself.
"Is it really changed? You can try it yourself," Aili suggested, suddenly appearing beside them.
"Right, I should try it myself." Adi, who had been severely shaken, didn't notice the malicious look in Aili's eyes as she pushed him onto the path of no return.
"Good little doggy, come to Uncle, let Uncle feed you some delicious meat," Adi walked up to the wolf, holding a pile of meat, speaking in a tone that sounded like a creepy uncle trying to lure a little girl.
The wolf gave Adi a disdainful look, and Wu Yi could clearly feel the contempt in its eyes.
"You dead dog, you dare to refuse my offer." Adi's face stiffened, and he reached out to grab the wolf.
Wu Yi only saw a white flash, and then Adi was thrown away by a powerful force.
After knocking Adi away, the wolf returned to its spot, baring its teeth at Adi, showing its ferocious side.
"You dead dog, one day I'll stew you and eat the most delicious dog meat," Adi quickly got up, cursing.
Adi's words seemed to anger the wolf, which pounced on him even faster, biting his arm with its sharp teeth.
Adi let out a deafening scream, desperately trying to shake the wolf off his arm.
Adi's scream alarmed the surrounding villagers, but after seeing his condition, they continued their own business, completely unmoved by the scene.
"Just a few bites, why is Adi screaming like that?" Wu Yi asked Nike, puzzled. Adi didn't seem like the type to make a big fuss over a minor injury; his numerous scars were proof.
"Being bitten by this little demon, the wound isn't serious, but the pain is so intense that even the toughest man would cry. Adi is only screaming like this because he's used to being bitten," Nike shivered, recalling some terrifying memory.
After rolling a few times, Adi finally shook the wolf off, and Wu Yi could see the new bite marks on his arm.
Seeing the wolf charge at him again, Adi turned and ran, dashing around the village.
"You dead dog, don't let me catch you, or I'll skin you and make a leather armor."
Adi's screams and the laughter of Wu Yi and the others echoed far and wide.
