Intercepting the Boyfriend When he Was Young
Chapter 1.1
March in Nancheng. Normally the spring’s chilliness was awaited, but it was already as hot as summer. The students on the basketball court were wearing their short-sleeved school uniforms and carelessly splattering their sweat under the scorching sun.
Xia Jiujiu followed behind the teacher. She properly wore the school uniform and carried a schoolbag, completely appearing like a model student.
The teacher’s surname was Yang, named Yang Lin. She was her homeroom teacher. She looked very young, less than thirty years old, but her manner of speech was very old-fashioned, drilling Xia Jiujiu, “The City’s Number One High School is different from those third-rate, fourth-rate high schools you used to go to. Since you’ve come, you must follow the rules. Don’t think that you’re all that just because your father donated a building to the school. There are plenty here whose families have money and power. It’s the same for anyone that enters.”
“Ok.”
Xia Jiujiu obediently answered. Her voice was very gentle, without any indication that she was dissatisfied in the slightest. Yang Lin saw how well behaved Xia Jiujiu was and her tone warmed up a little bit, “I see that your grades are just average. Since you’ve come, you should try harder in your studies, otherwise you’d have wasted your father’s money if you’re unable to catch up to the curriculum.”
“Don’t worry, teacher,” Xia Jiujiu replied very seriously, “I will definitely study hard and live up to the expectations of my parents and teachers!”
Yang Lin momentarily had nothing to say to such a positive and loyal student.
She originally intended to keep Xia Jiu Jiu in line so that she would not cause mischief just because her dad had money. Instead, Xia Jiujiu turned out to be this well-mannered. It felt like her fist hit cotton, immediately losing any place to exert her efforts.
She nodded, walked to the door of the class, and knocked on the door, “Teacher Zhang, if you can lend me some of your time. There’s a new student reporting in.”
This was the first math class since school started again. Zhang He was still getting this group of students, who had just come back from the Spring break, to curb their playfulness. Hearing the words “new student”, Zhang He had an idea of whom it was. It was long circulated amongst the teachers that a few days ago, there was someone with a surname Xia who donated a building for his daughter since she only scored 30 points on her mathematics.
Zhang He’s countenance did not look too good. He nodded, “Come in.”
Xia Jiujiu walked in. She knew how she had gotten in, and also knew that she had to act weak and be good at this time. Hence, she carried her school bag and walked in with a lowered head, looking exactly like a good little girl. She first greeted Zhang He before writing her name on the blackboard. Afterwards, she said in a quiet voice, “My name is Xia Jiujiu. I hope everyone will take care of me in the future.”
No one paid any attention to her. Everyone just did what they should do; those working on practice questions, worked; those that slept, slept; and those that played games, played.
Xia Jiujiu felt a little awkward. At this moment, someone suddenly leapt to his feet in the classroom and said excitedly , “Teacher, I didn’t hear your question just now. Would you repeat it again?”
That was a boy that sat in the second last row. He looked tall and sturdy, extremely straightforward. Zhang He immediately flushed red with anger and shouted, “Wu Yi, were you sleeping again?!”
The boy called Wu Yi looked dumbfounded. Zhang He pointed to an empty table beside the podium and said, “You will sit here in the future. If you want to sleep, you will sleep in front of the whole class! I certainly want to see whether or not your face is made from a bullet-proof vest, to be so unabashed!”
Hearing this, the whole class hooted with laughter. Wu Yi seemed to be accustomed to this as he bowed his head and said, “Oh.” He reluctantly started to pack his things. Right then, Zhang He remembered Xia Jiujiu. He pointed to Wu Yi’s position, turned his head, and said to Xia Jiujiu, “Just sit there. Hurry up and sit down, class is starting.”
Xia Jiujiu nodded, and after properly saying “Thank you teacher,” she walked off the podium and came to Wu Yi’s position.
Wu Yi looked at her, rather disgruntled that she had snatched his position. The lanky student facing the teacher suddenly harrumphed and went to the front with his school bag.
Xia Jiujiu rubbed her nose. She pondered how Wu Yi being transferred there might indeed have something to do with herself. After all, that was the only spot in the class with an extra desk available. If she didn’t sit there, then it would be someone else. Wu Yi just happened to become that “someone else”.
She was a little sheepish, but she didn’t want to sit there either, so she sat in Wu Yi’s position.
He had been sitting together with a boy, who was currently sleeping. Only the top of his head was visible. His hair looked lustrous, dark, and silky soft, glowing with a touch of glossiness in the sun.
He slept very soundly. When Xia Jiujiu sat down, she could hear him making small snores.
The snoring sounds weren’t loud, almost like breathing. Xia Jiujiu could only hear it when she leaned in closer to him. It was long and gentle, making one…
Feel sleepy.
As for the boy sitting behind Xia Jiujiu, he kept burying himself on the table, holding back his laughter, his whole person shaking.
