The Metal Devouring Bug, Xi En: “Buzz Buzz Buzz!”
Lan Jia: “Are we really going to fight on Asha grounds? So we can be captured together like fish in a net”
Xi En: “Buzz.”
Lan Jia: “Alright…… maybe you can hold it in your mouth. It is rather strenuous to hold it with your front claws after all.”
The Metal Devouring Bug gave a fleeting buzz– a huge clamor came from the left side, carrying over flames and bringing the smell of smoke and char into the entire area. Countless mosquito-sized insects approached the area rapidly in a swarm.
“Dynamite bugs?” Lan Jia looked incredulously towards Xi En: “You’re insane!”
Sirius’s expression also fell.
Insectoids didn’t value science and technology. The complicated knowledge and information would only give them pain. To make up, they possess a strong and durable insect body. There were all sorts of strange and peculiar insects that live on their Mother Planet which can do battle with enemy forces. Dynamite bugs were one of the most lethal kinds. Within a few short seconds, they could charge into enemy lines, explode themselves, and spray poisonous gas into the surrounding air.
Insects with low intelligence have an extremely strong ability to proliferate. The endless explosion of bugs could even destroy a battleship.
He noticed that the front most row of dynamite bugs were opening and closing their mouths, as if they were swallowing something.
Sirius yelled lowly: “Nalun!”
The Honored Prince, who was called on, turned his head.
“Come back!”
While speaking, Sirius charged to Nalun’s side, grabbed his hand, and yanked Nalun into his area of control.
Nalun felt a sharp pain to his wrist. He didn’t even have a chance to resist when his view darkened, and something covered over his head. After a moment of random flailing, he finally held the thing in his hands.
“What’s this?”
“Protective gear. Hurry and put it on.”
As Sirius said this, he stuffed a certain Honored Prince into the mantle-like garb.
This was actually the first time that Nalun wore this kind of military protective gear. He didn’t even have the time to see where Sirius pulled it out from. He only knew that after he put it on, the Asha soldiers around him also finished their preparations.
Nalun looked around and asked: “What about you?”
Sirius smiled: “I don’t need it.”
Nalun furrowed his brows and stared unblinkingly at him.
Sirius, exasperatedly: “Andrew still has extras on him.”
Within the short exchange, the first wave of Dynamite Bugs already detonated and became huge fireballs, charging downwards swiftly.
“Boom!”
A deep hole was smashed into the marble surface beneath their feet. Nalun took a half a step backwards and looked down at his yellow edged shoes. A strange scorched smell was already permeating into the air.
“How is it going?” Sirius’s voice came from behind him. Nalun was pulled into a stagger by him: “Head into the building first! Where’s Diya? Tell him to contact the military to send more reinforcements.”
As he spoke, two other Dynamite Bugs exploded above their heads.
Lan Jia’s sharp pointed cursing sounded.
“You lunatic! This is Asha. Do you want us to all be finished?!”
The long feathered Metal Devouring Bug abruptly swung its tail, planning to leave this bug, who dared to question him, behind on Xier Street as well.
Lan Jia didn’t expect the other to act against him on enemy territories, Reacting a beat slower, he dodged just barely. When he finally stood steady again, he was then yanked backwards by someone from behind.
Alida looked at him expressionlessly.
Lan Jia looked back and discovered that the empty spot where he had originally stood had already been engulfed in flames. Pupils constricting, he struggled out of Alida’s grasp and let out a strange buzzing cry. In a flash, the only thing remaining where he stood was a pile of clothes.
With a heavy face, Alida bent down and picked up the clothes. Giving them a shake, he discovered that a certain crafty bug had already escaped.
Throwing down the garments, he looked towards the insects that were crawling all over the streets. He didn’t actually notice a rather ugly looking, 3 mouthed, mini bug that had nested onto his back.
Both Alida and Nalun did not come prepared. Therefore, Alida also did not have any protective gear. The destructive power of the Dynamite Bug was very lethal. He didn’t plan to use his human flesh to go head to head. Therefore, he picked up the terrified landlord and entered the building together.
The irregular bugs that Lan Jia brought were still inside. Seeing Alida enter, they swiftly escaped out the window.
Alida: “……”
Nalun said: “Look there.”
He pointed towards the Metal Devouring Bug. In the midst of chaos, those Dynamite Bugs all consciously avoided being in the vicinity of the Metal Devouring Bug.
“We can get onto its back.”
Xi Jin often complained that his legs were too short; he couldn’t scratch his back and had no choice but to suffer a difficult life of rolling around nonstop.
Sirius wrapped his somewhat calloused palms around Nalun’s hands before releasing him.
“I’ll go.”
Nalun: “…….”
Sirius retrieved a weapon from the hand of the soldier beside him. Then he was stopped.
“There’s a circle of bugs around him.” Nalun said sincerely: “If you want to play hero and die, I will take good care of little R for you. Be good, go ahead.”
Sirius: “……. I’ll be fine.”
Nalun sneered: “Alright. No one is stopping you from going.”
Sirius, exasperatedly: “Let me go first. After one minute, you can hold it as long as you want.”
Nalun: “…….” He looked down, expression stiffening.
Oh fuck, why was his hand holding onto Sirius this entire time while he himself was completely unaware?
He adjusted his expression. However, his hand still didn’t let go. Instead, he said sincerely: “I suddenly remembered, compared to jumping on the other’s back, it’s actually better to shoot it from afar.”
Sirius remained silent for a moment, then a smile gradually spread on his face. He very quickly struggled out of Nalun’s hand. Before the other furrowed his brows and expressed his displeasure, Sirius reversed their stance and actively pulled Nalun into his arms, squeezed the back of Nalun’s slender long neck along the way.
He said quietly: “Actually, I’m wearing protective gear inside.”
Nalun: “……”
Sirius: “And its quality is better than the standard version.”
He pulled down his collar and indicated for Nalun to look.
Nalun: “……No, no need.”
He didn’t have a habit of publicly pulling down other people’s clothes and looking inside.
As they conversed, Sirius finally couldn’t hold back his internal desires and gave a firm tousle to Nalun’s curly black hair.
Nalun stiffened from top to bottom.
Sirius sighed above his head: “No wonder none of those married officers were willing to bring their families along…… How are people supposed to gather the will to fight like this?”
Towards suddenly being yanked into someone’s arms and then getting his hair ruffled randomly, the Honored Prince felt somewhat bewildered. He also only heard a gist of Sirius’s words. Before he even managed to digest them, the Admiral, who had blatantly took advantage of him, already charged into the battlefield nonchalantly.
Nalun: “…….”
What just happened?
The sound of a Dynamite Bug exploded on Nalun’s left side. He realized that he was still in the middle of danger. This was definitely not the time to get distracted. Meanwhile, that willful Admiral, who refused to listen to persuasion, already ran off towards the target on his own with large strides.
With a complicated expression, Andrew appeared behind Nalun: “No need to worry.”
He waved his hand, a huge net opened in midair and captured the little bugs flying around all over. Explosions were heard one after the other. However, the net wasn’t damaged at all.
