When the door to the chairman's office was knocked open, Qiao Antian immediately stood up with a beaming smile to welcome the guest. However, upon seeing the young man led in by Ning Lan, he was momentarily stunned, wondering if his assistant had brought the wrong person.
Lin Zixian didn't care about such formalities. Without waiting for an invitation, he walked straight to the large, luxurious desk and sat down, lazily asking Qiao Antian, who was sizing him up, "You're Qiao Antian?"
Noticing the chairman's puzzled gaze, Ning Lan's heart raced. How could the chairman not recognize this guy? Could she have made a mistake?
Despite his doubts, Qiao Antian knew basic courtesy. He forced a smile back onto his face, walked around the desk, and extended his hand, "Mr. Lin?"
Since the other party was being polite, Lin Zixian couldn't be rude. He shook hands briefly and then let go, getting straight to the point, "My master is Lin Bao. He said you're in trouble and sent me to help."
"Ah, so you're Master Lin's disciple! I apologize for my lack of respect!" Qiao Antian said with a genuine smile. Confirming the other's identity, he felt a weight lift off his chest. After all, not everyone knew the name Lin Bao.
Although he didn't know who Master Lin Bao was, in today's society, the master-disciple relationship was mostly limited to certain special professions. Otherwise, people generally referred to each other as teacher and student. The only other instances were in ancient lineages that still maintained this tradition. It seemed his father's dying words were indeed significant.
This was the difference between a well-informed person and an ordinary one. They could often grasp the crux of a matter from a few words.
Ning Lan, the assistant, breathed a sigh of relief, quickly brewed two cups of tea, placed them on the table, and then closed the door, tactfully leaving the room.
Qiao Antian sat back behind his desk, facing Lin Zixian across it. Seeing the other man calmly sipping his tea without any deference to his status as a big boss, he nodded inwardly. This wasn't an act; only someone with real insight and confidence could behave this way. It seemed the young man didn't take him, the big boss, seriously at all.
As the saying goes, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Qiao Antian now dared not underestimate this seemingly young man. His father's mention of Lin Bao seemed mysterious, and for him to send a disciple, this must be a high-ranking figure from an ancient lineage. These hidden sects often had unimaginable power... He had heard similar rumors before.
"May I ask for Mr. Lin's full name?" Qiao Antian asked with a smile, not at all offended by the other's rudeness. This was about being able to handle both sides.
Lin Zixian blew on the floating tea leaves in his cup and said calmly, "Lin Zixian. The 'Lin' is from the double-wood character, the 'Zi' is from Laozi, and the 'Xian' means 'leisurely.'"
"Good name, it has a classical charm!" Qiao Antian flattered him, then continued with a smile, "May I ask where Mr. Lin is currently working?"
"Unemployed, just a leisurely person," Lin Zixian said, taking a sip of tea and placing the cup on the table. He then got to the point, "My master said you're in trouble and sent me to help. But I don't know what kind of trouble you're in. Chairman Qiao, let's get to the point. Tell me about your problem."
"Alright." Qiao Antian sat up straight and began to recount the events.
It turned out that recently, the Minghua Group and the Shengqing Group had been in a fierce competition over a piece of land, due to the huge profits involved.
Qiao Antian's only daughter, Qiao Yun, was the general manager of the Minghua Group. She was fearless but possessed exceptional business acumen, so the board of directors had entrusted her with the company's operations.
Qiao Yun lived up to their expectations. In the land dispute with the Shengqing Group, she extended the battle to the stock market, severely disrupting the Shengqing Group's cash flow. As a result, the Minghua Group successfully secured the land. However, Qiao Yun didn't stop there; she planned to take advantage of the Shengqing Group's financial difficulties to吞并整个盛青集团,手段确实有些过于狠毒,几乎是把对方逼上了绝路。
