Chapter 48

"What are you talking about? Phoenix the firebird has already been summoned back. Who knows which firebird will be summoned next?"

"Indeed, what you said is correct, which shows that you have been reading the book carefully. But have you ever heard the saying: heroes appreciate each other?"

"In short, Phoenix believes that the relationship between him and Liu Siyi is one of mutual appreciation. Oh no, it's more like a mutual attraction, so when Liu Siyi proposed to establish a responsive mental link between them, the firebird readily agreed."

"Therefore, the next firebird summoned will be Phoenix, not any other firebird."

"The reason Liu Siyi took the initiative to establish a mental link is due to the instant casting of spells. Not all summoned creatures will form a connection with you. Although the magic consumption won't decrease, the casting time and mental energy consumption will be reduced. He found that what he lacks now is not magic power but mental energy. With the existence of the lightning rune, each time there is still a lot of magic power left, but the mental energy is completely drained."

"Getting back to the point, although the goal has been achieved, there is no need to meddle further. However, since he initially used the Behemoth, and now the Behemoth is in danger and misunderstood, if he doesn't take action, Liu Siyi himself will feel that his thoughts are not clear. If he has the opportunity to practice cultivation techniques in the future, this could become a heart demon. So, either don't do it, or don't leave any loopholes."

"Moreover, with both sides working together, a high-level seventh-rank Behemoth and a regular seventh-rank Behemoth, plus the lightning element lord Lexus and the newly summoned mantis, killing the remaining three mantises should be a piece of cake, and it will conveniently complete the witch lord's task."

"Lexus, didn't you say there were only four mantises in this forest?" Liu Siyi's intentions were good, but seeing the mantises emerging from the forest below, his face turned extremely grim.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, plus the one that was sealed, that makes seven. There might even be more hidden ones."

"Master, I don't know what happened either. I only saw four mantises..." Lexus's voice grew smaller, and he felt very wronged.

"Damn! So what if there are six mantises? With Lexus around, the mantises can't catch up to me, so I'm not afraid of failure. But if I run away, it will not only leave a psychological shadow, but if the Behemoth dies, I will feel guilty. Besides, with three Behemoths, the lightning element lord, and the recruited mantis, that's five against six. With us added, it would be very hard to fail."

"Perhaps because the mantises are intelligent beings, Liu Siyi unconsciously treats them as equal communication partners, which is why he has this feeling."

"The six mantises probably heard the call of the sealed mantis and came. This also indicates that they do not hunt cooperatively but act individually. Therefore, by observing the traces in the forest below, one can determine the direction and number of the mantises."

"Perhaps they also know that the commotion is too loud, or they believe they have a clear advantage, so they appear directly without hiding."

"Boom! Ka!" A bolt of lightning fell from the sky, forming a lightning giant in front of the three riders.

"Haha, I didn't expect you to summon me so quickly again." Lexus laughed as soon as he appeared.

"It's not the time for chatting. Our friend is trapped by the mantises, and I need to save them." Liu Siyi's face was serious as he said to Lya and Lina, "Don't be stingy with magic power. Cast all negative spells on the mantises to save our friend."

"Yes, Master." Although Lya and Lina didn't know why Liu Siyi suddenly decided to fight the powerful mantises, they still faithfully carried out the order.

"Lightning Speed!" As the mantises completed their encirclement, Liu Siyi cast a spell on the Behemoth brothers, increasing their speed and burst power.

The Behemoth giant gave Liu Siyi a surprised look. He really didn't expect that the other party would still help him in this situation, so he must have misunderstood him. Admitting mistakes is part of the Behemoth's nature, but now is not the time to apologize. He adopted a defensive stance, ready to defend against the mantises' imminent attack.

It's not clear whether the mantises can't speak or don't want to speak, but Liu Siyi found it very strange how they could speak through their chewing mouthparts.

"I see, but I never thought your friend would be a Behemoth." From Lexus's tone, it was clear he was very surprised. As he spoke, he charged forward.

Lexus's summoning location was also carefully chosen. Since the mantises came from all around, they formed an encirclement rather than a battle formation.

Lexus landed near one of the mantises. As a lightning element lord, his speed was very fast. By the time he reached one of the mantises, a layer of earth-colored light had just enveloped the mantis's body. At this moment, the witch's slow spell had just been cast.

However, the timing was perfect. The mantis, which was about to attack Lexus with its scythe, was suddenly slowed, creating a slight opening.

"Buzz!" Even with the slow effect, the mantis's scythe was still so fast that it could only be seen as a green blur, showing just how fast it was. But this speed was not enough against a lightning element lord of the same rank. Lexus easily dodged the scythe's swing with a light side step, turned forward, and kicked the mantis from the side. With a "Peng!" the mantis was kicked flying.

"Zzz... Peng!" The mantis, surrounded by lightning, fell to the ground with a loud thud.

"The timing was perfect, you have a natural talent for battle." Lexus suddenly turned around and gave the witch sisters a thumbs up.

"Thank you, but it was just a coincidence." Lina blushed as she said.

In a battle between experts, even the slightest mistake can be seized upon to gain the upper hand and potentially defeat the opponent.

The mantises and Lexus are not only experts but also speed experts. The mantises are fast with their scythe arms, while Lexus is fast in movement and attack speed. Each has its strengths. However, the sudden slow effect caused the mantis to make a slight mistake, which Lexus seized upon to deliver a powerful kick, severely injuring the mantis.

No way, mantises are fragile, but they shouldn't be so easily defeated with one hit. Seeing the mantis on the ground struggling, Liu Siyi began to regret sealing the mantis so hastily, but it was too late now. The most important thing is to defeat the mantises in front of them.

With the loss of a comrade at the start of the battle, the mantises' fighting spirit was fully aroused. The remaining five mantises chirped in communication, and four of them immediately flapped their wings and pounced on the Behemoth brothers, while the other one pounced on Lexus, joining the injured mantis in a pincer attack.
