Chapter 21: Making It Big

“Alarmist!”

Li Feng sneered, a steady stream of air flowed out from his short silver spear. “It’s just some hunters and ordinary people missing. How can it endanger the entire Dark Moon City?”

The other guards looked at each other strangely.

The Land of Qianxuan has countless cities and villages, and unexpected accidents might occur every once in a while.

Those ordinary mortals’ death and disappearance would typically not affect much of the city’s foundations.

According to Li Feng”s speculation, this series of strange disappearances might be because of some evil cultivators who, by chance, came past the village and used these ordinary people as a sacrifice or refinement.

Such cultivators come and go without a trace, and often do not stay for too long at one place to avoid being targeted by powerful authorities.

Even if some were here, Yuan Lianyao and the four clans of the city would not let them get away easily.

Did they think there was no one powerful enough in the Silver Moon Empire?

“When you go back to the city and meet Lady Mayoress, please inform her that I want to see her soon.” Yu Yuan said.

“Who do you think you are? Lady Mayoress is not a person that you can arrange a meeting with!” Li Feng said with a bad attitude. “Boy, you better mind your own business here!”

Not long ago, Yuan Lianyao ordered him to seal the news about the fierce conflict in Yu Clan’s hall.

Just because of this, neither the Huang Clan’s Huang Chen nor the city guard leader Li Feng knew that Yuan Lianyao had personally given Yu Yuan permission to go to the Manor of the Mayoress at any time to see her.

“With this village as the center, search for anyone suspicious within a radius of ten miles. We must carefully investigate everyone who might have done this!” Li Feng frowned and glanced at Ning Yue, “Mr. Ning, I’ve heard some news from you that you had some soul-attraction flags.”

“They have long been broken by Yin Jue.” Ning Yue said bitterly.

Li Feng nodded and said, “I hope it’s not you. I’m just afraid that you might want to remake those flags despite the cost of blood.”

“Well, you are free to investigate me anytime.” Ning Yue spreads out his hands calmly.

“Don’t get me wrong; I am just reminding you. I trust that you, Mr. Ning, is not that kind of person.” Li Feng waved his hand to tell the guards to search while continuing, “Not only that, with your powers, it’s almost impossible to make everyone in the village disappear without a trace in just a matter of hours.”

Ning Yue said frankly, “I truly am not that powerful yet.”

“I thought so too.” Li Feng cupped his hands and said, “It hasn’t been very peaceful recently around the outer parts of the city. You two better take extra caution. I still advise you to return to the city tomorrow morning to avoid being part of any more accidents like this.”

Following the other guards, he left as well.

Under the crimson moonlight, a mist of faint blood seemed to cover the empty village. Even Ning Yue sensed a bit of danger, “Young master Yu, what else do you know about this? Also, shouldn’t we listen to Li Feng’s advice and return to Dark Moon City tomorrow morning?”

“Now, it’s not safe outside the city, but soon the danger will creep into the city as well.” Yu Yuan stared at the night sky, frowning. “Pity! This situation is much more complicated than I thought. The best move right now is to move everyone in the clan as far away from the city as possible and stay away from this chaos.”

Ning Yue was shocked, “Is it that serious?”

“Very serious,” Yu Yuan sighed. “But with my weightless words, who would listen? Even those who might believe in me, they probably won’t leave everything they have and leave the city. But then…”

“What?” Ning Ji asked anxiously.

“But then, if we don’t leave right now, we might be buried along with the rest of the Dark Moon City.” Yu Yuan shook his head, hesitating in his heart, and said, “Mr. Ning, let’s go observe around the city, and see what else we can find. I want to make sure if that assumption I have in mind is true or not.”

“Certainly!”

…

After another restless night…

Accompanied by Ning Yue, Yu Yuan spent most of the day walking around the surrounding areas of the Dark Moon City.

“Over there?”

In the afternoon of the second day, when the sky was already turning slightly red, Yu Yuan pointed toward a small mountain and asked.

“That is the Jinluo Mountain. Your clan’s top rival, the Huang Clan, owns it.” Ning Yue explained. “Huang Bin’s father, Huang Chen, should be in there right now. According to what I’ve heard, the person who wants to kill you during the battle is him, Huang Bin.”

“Jinluo Mountain…” Yu Yuan squinted his eyes, slowly squatted down, picked up a few rocks at random, and arbitrarily placed them in the open space.”From the perspective of the formation method, the eye of the formation is pointed directly at the Jinluo Mountain!”

He gradually got a clue in his heart, and said, “Has there been several unexplainable collapses recently in the mountain?’

“Frequent collapse incidents.” Ning Yue said, “How do you know that this happened?”

“Since it’s the Huang Clan who owns the Jinluo Mountain …” Yu Yuan’s sight grew colder, “then the Huang Clan must be their ally.”

“Who is it that wants to endanger the city? What can we do at this point?” Ning Yue was puzzled.

“I’ll tell you later.” Yu Yuan took a deep breath and said, “But I think I found the answer. We are going back to the city now, and I need to see Yuan Lianyao in person! If I’m correct, the Jinluo Mountain right now must be a cave full of blood and corpses.”

The collapses are just a way for them to prevent the smell of blood from dissipating further out of the mountain.”

…

Within the Jinluo Mountain.

Long and narrow stone tunnels ran up and down, yet piles of gravel firmly blocked some paths within the complex system.

Along those paths, corpses were lying everywhere.

Many hair-thin lines penetrated the corpses, drawing the blood along those lines, leading into the abyss.

The disturbing bloodlines seemed to be part of an even more complex formation, running like the meridians of a human body.

Thousands of bloody lines all gathered toward a vast open cave extending to the bottom of the mountain.

In that colossal cave, there were more thumb-thick lines intertwined into a pattern.

The blood web hangs high in the air, almost filling the entire cave!

Every thread of the web sparked a tiny bit of light, and those were the only source of light that brightened up the gloomy cave.

And the only color in the cave was red.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

There was a ray of shadow continuously flying around the large blood web.

Whenever the shadow passes through a thread where the bloodlines cross, the light from the thread would immediately fade away.

One by one, as the shadow sped through each line, swallowing the essence of the blood, it slowly grew in size.

…

The Manor of the Mayoress

The person who greeted Yu Yuan was Li Feng again.

“Lady Mayoress is cultivating in solitude. She will not be meeting anyone until the Battle of the Three Realms starts.” With his usual cold attitude, Li Feng said, “Even I haven’t even got a chance to talk to her since I got back.”

“Brother Li, can’t you just go tell her that Yu Yuan has urgent news and need to talk to her?” Yu Yuan was so desperate to meet Yuan Lianyao that he even called Li Feng brother.

Li Feng was surprised. With a slightly better attitude, he said, “Young master Yu, I have no prejudice against you, but Lady Mayoress is not a person that anyone can meet. If it isn’t for that she happens to be in retreat, I can go deliver your words, but today is different.”

“So, I have no way to talk to her?” Yu Yuan asked again.

Li Feng shook his head. “Nope.”

“Mr. Ning, it’s your turn now. I want to make it big.” Yu Yuan stepped back slowly and said, “Don’t worry, nothing will go wrong. Someone will come out eventually.”

“Hmm… Don’t you think this is a little too aggressive?” Ning Yue asked.

“Don’t worry. NOTHING will go wrong.”

Li Feng’s eyes widened, looking at Yu Yuan and Ning Yue like they were idiots. “Are you two crazy? This is the Mayoress of the Dark Moon City’s Manor! Mr. Ning, I know that both of us are only at the Yellow Hall Realm, but think twice before you attack me here! ”

With both of their voices rising, many pedestrians roaming in the city circled them to see what was going on.

Ning Yue was having a headache. Indeed, he didn’t want to pick a meaningless fight. “Look, should we at least go back and talk to your grandpa first?”

“Nothing will change if Mr. Yu is here!” Li Feng was also irritated. “Mayoress is determined not to see anyone until the Battle of the Three Realms starts. No one can disturb her! Including Mr. Yu!”

“Fight! The bigger, the better. Someone will come out!” Yu Yuan yelled impatiently. “Mr. Ning, you have to trust me on this!”

“Fine!”

Ning Yue bit his lips. It was such a bad idea to fight in front of the most powerful person in the whole city.

Forced by Yu Yuan, he had no other choice but to do so.

This would mean that the Yu Clan was provoking the entire Dark Moon City!
