Creak!

Yu Can pressed his hands hard on to his wooden chair, he said while trying to stand up, “Lady Mayoress! What did you say?”

Behind him, Yu Yuan placed his hands on Yu Can’s shoulder, and whispered, “Grandpa, don’t worry. Sit down and then talk.”

Yu Can turned back to look at him, eyes full of confusion, “You told me that the Mayoress promised your safety!”

“Grandpa, don’t ask, but I’ll be fine. Trust me.” Yu Yuan said quietly.

“Lady Mayoress?”

Huang Chen was also stunned, “Did I hear that right?”

Shouldn’t I be the one making this special request?

According to the plan, he was supposed to anger Yu Wei first, then use Huang Bin to induce Yu Yuan, and finally to use a larger profit distribution to hook Yu Yuan to accept the challenge.

How come Lady Mayoress said it for him?

“It’s not compliant with the rules! Nowhere close!” On the Yuan Clan’s side, Li Feng, the chief guard, shook his head in surprise after hearing what Yuan Lianyao said.

Wasn’t it you who said to follow the rules?

Fighting without drawing first already broke the rules.

Yuan Lianyao didn’t seem to care much, and from nowhere, she grabbed out a wooden chair and sat down. In her gentle voice, she said, “Huang Chen, Huang Bin is your son. Do you agree with my proposal?”

“Ha! Of course, I agree!” Huang Chen laughed. His fierce looks landed on Yu Wei and Yu Can. “Honestly if Lady Mayoress hasn’t brought this up, I would’ve asked anyways!”

“How about the other party?” Yuan Lianyao asked while nodding.

“Brother Yu Wei, if you agree, as long as Yu Yuan wins, our clan will give you thirty percent of all the income from the mines for the next three years. And if Yu Yuan lost, we, the Huang Clan, will not request for a single penny!” Huang Chen announced loudly and clearly so everyone could hear.

If Yu Yuan won, the Huang Clan would give up their benefits, and if Yu Yuan lost, they would not ask for anything from Yu Clan’s herb plantation.

They were clearly confident enough to kill Yu Yuan this time.

“What do you think?” Yuan Lianyao chuckled softly.

“I agree.” Yu Wei said.

“What!”

Many from the Yu Clan people screamed in horror.

“What the hell is going on?” Yu Can looked at Yu Wei and Yu Yuan with very strange eyes. “Did you two agree upon this without me?”

This was so abnormal.

Yu Yuan nodded gently.

“Lady Mayoress?” Yu Can asked again.

“Grandpa, you just sit and watch what I’ll do.” Yu Yuan’s hand gently pressed on the back of Yu Can’s hand, and said, “Your always-so-lucky grandson will not die easily.”

While he said that, he walked towards Yuan Lianyao.

Everyone’s surprised looks now focused all on Yu Yuan.

“Is he the young master from the Yu Clan who just woke up from a coma? I finally get to see him in person!”

“Hey, he looks quite handsome, no less than Huang Bin!”

“Pity that he will die for the Yu Clan at just seventeen years old. Why does he agree to fight with Huang Bin?”

“From what I can see, Yu Wei must want to kill him! If he dies, then Yu Wei will be the future leader of the Yu Clan!”

Conspiracy theories spread like a virus among the crowds. People thought that Yu Wei agreed to Lady Mayoress’ request out of his own selfishness.

“Brother Yu Yuan, you got this!”

From Zhao Clan’s side, a loud encouragement suddenly sounded.

When Yu Yuan turned to look, he saw Zhao Yafu smiling sweetly and waving her hands. “You will win for sure! After today, I still have a lot to ask from you!”

“Indeed!” Yu Yuan nodded.

When passing by Yu Wei, Yu Wei took a deep breath and said quietly, “Be careful, don’t be too overconfident.”

Yu Yuan gave an light um, and asked Yuan Lianyao, “Which platform is for the first battle?”

“That one.” Yuan Lianyao raised her hand and pointed toward one that was opposite towards her. From somewhere, she took out a handful of melon seeds and started to eat while saying, “Not too many rules. The battle will end after one of you dies.”

Swoosh!

Huang Bin jumped forward and landed on that platform first. He shouted, “Yu Yuan, I told you the other day in front of the city gates that I would let you pass me, but if you dare to participate in this battle, I won’t let you live for another day. I will indefinitely kill you!”

“Hmm.” Zhao Xi raised his head and glanced at Huang Bin. He then asked, “Elder brother and Yafu, are you two hiding something from me?”

“Nothing.” Zhao Dongsheng pretended to not know anything.

“Don’t you think you overlooked that Yu Yuan kid? Strange, very strange.” Zhao Xi stared at Zhao Yafu curiously, “Don’t tell me that you like that boy already! I don’t remember that you met him before.”

“Today is my first time seeing him.” Zhao Yafu smiled, “But I do have an excellent impression of Yu Yuan.”

“Excellent impression?” Zhao Xi frowned and became more curious about this.

Unlike Huang Bin, Yu Yuan walked slowly on the steps to the high square platform.

From start to end, he was extremely calm.

Yu Yuan seemed as if he was deaf, not reacting to a single word that Huang Bin said.

Zhao Xi squinted his eyes, and said, “Weird!”

“What did you see?” Zhao Dongsheng asked with interest.

“Huang Bin is panicking even though his cultivation is much higher than Yu Yuan,” Zhao Xi said in a low voice. “On the other hand, Yu Yuan is just too calm. It seems to him that this kind of death match is nothing much at all.”

“Well, he might be panicking in his heart.” Zhao Dongsheng muttered.

“What’s the matter?” Zhao Xi felt a bit uneasy. He looked towards the gloomy sky and instinctively felt a sense of depression. “Brother Yu, don’t just not care because I said that you’ll be fine.”

“Your instincts quite good.” Zhao Dongsheng nodded, “Let’s just see what happens.”

After hearing this, Zhao Xi’s mood became even heavier.

“Xiao Li, Yuan’er will be fine, right?”

Seeing Yu Yuan stepping on to the platform, the old man’s heart was full of worries, so he asked Yu Li, who was closest to him.

Yu Li lowered her head. “He should be fine.”

“Do you and Wei have something hiding from me?” Yu Can became more and more doubtful.

“Don’t ask me, I’m not sure either. Yuan’er, gave me this handy weapon, so I believe that he have something prepared for himself as well.” Yu Li said.

“Another secret weapon?” Yu Can was surprised again.

“Alright, let’s just watch first.” Yu Li was anxious.

“Fine.” Yu Can sighed.

“You go first!”

Yu Yuan stepped on to the stage and stood there calmly, looking at Huang Bin and said, “Remember, it is your father and your grandfather who asked for your death.”

He looked at a thin old man on the Huang Clan’s side.

The old man squinted his eyes. Ever since the event started, he hadn’t spoken a single word.

The rights for decisions were all made by his son Huang Chen, and he just sat there quietly.

“I will die?” Huang Bin laughed in a weird tone, “I’m going to die? Your stupidity has reached its maximum! What else do you have to say?”

“Stop your nonsense. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” Lady Mayoress, who was still crunching on melon seeds, urged them to start impatiently. “We are on a tight schedule here.”

The last sentence said specifically for Yu Yuan, just that no one else understood what it truely meant.
