Chapter 50: Piles of Spirit Stones

The Yu Clan of the North City was covered in fear.
Yu Feifei was sixteen years old and reached the early stage of the Contained Spirit Realm. Of the youngest generation, she was one of the most talented in the Yu Clan.
She was also the only daughter of Yu Lian.
“Here are the last spirit stones we have. Make good use of it.”
Yu Lian placed a bag of spirit stones into Yu Feifei’s hands, and said, “It’s hard for the clan to distribute any more of these for the time being.”
Yu Feifei looked at her father and said, “Father, but you need spiritual stones too.”
For any cultivator that wants to advance, spirit stones were a necessity.
The spirit stones contain refined energy that could be used directly when cultivating.
It could be used to set up formations, refining pills, mending weapons, and recovering one’s used up energy after a battle.
Those in the Meridian Establishment Realm only need a tiny bit of spiritual energy to continue their cultivation.
At that stage, even without the help from spirit stones, one could still cultivate just fine.
Of course, with the help of these stones, it would certainly save a handful of time.
Starting from the Contained Spirit Realm, pure and steady spiritual energy would come more and more important.
That was why many would need spirit stones on a daily basis to make their efforts worth a lot more.
Every realm was separated into the beginning, middle, and late stages. When stepping across these small stages, a cultivator would also require a certain amount of spirit stones.
Yu Feifei was the most highly valued cultivator of the clan among the youngest generation.
After she got to the Contained Spirit Realm, the clan offered her a monthly allowance of spirit stones to assist her with her cultivation.
However, since the breakup in business affairs with the Su Clan, she realized that the promised amount of spirit stones would no longer hold up to be true.
Perhaps one day, she would not have any left.
From the elders of the clan, she even heard that many of the retainers were planning to leave the Yu Clan to seek more prosperous paths.
Those who were kept as retainers for the clan were simply working for the spirit stones that the Yu Clan could offer. They weren’t part of the direct Family of Yu, so legally they could leave anytime.
Without spirit stones, few would be willing to stay loyal.
“Hmm…”
Yu Lian looked sad but still tried hard to put up a smile. “Forget it. I can’t go much further anyway, not significant enough for anyone to notice.”
His eyes lit up. “But you are different! You are my proud daughter, the future of our clan! I will do whatever it takes to push you forward!”
Yu Feifei’s nose felt sore after hearing these words. “Father, tell me the truth. They aren’t from the clan, right? These are the ones you saved up over the years.”
Yu Lian sighed. “I never saved up much anyways, use it carefully. I’ll try to get you more.”
Yu Feifei lowered her head. Tears collected at the corners of her eyes. “The Su Clan never helped us when we were in trouble and only brought us more trouble than good! They deserve no respect at all!”
“Shhh!.” Yu Lian silenced her, then coughed and shouted, “Who’s out there?”
“Brother, it’s me.” Yu Li said outside.
Yu Lian breathed a sigh of relief and greeted Yu Li into the room. “Weren’t you at the Yu Clan’s old house just yesterday? Why are you here so late in the night?”
“Well, surprises are only good at night isn’t it?” Yu Li smiled.
“Hello, Aunt Li!” Yu Feifei smiled sweetly.
Despite her smile, Yu Li could still see the traces of tears left in her eyes.
“What’s the matter, Feifei?” Yu Li asked.
“What do you think?” Yu Lian glared at his sister. “For the Su Clan of course! May of the elders demanded Yu Can to go to Su Yin to agree to every requirement that the Su Clan demands.”
“So that’s why.” Yu Li glanced at the cloth bag on the table. “We are just poor aren’t we?”
Yu Lian grunted and said in his mind, I don’t need you to remind me of that!
“Alright, alright.” Yu Li said that while started to take out spirit stones one by one from her pocket. “Feifei is the priceless treasure of our clan. How can we not treat you with plenty of spirit stones? Oh, here’s a Condensed Spiritual Pill, perfect for the realm you are in right now.”
On the table, the shining spirit stones made the room a lot brighter.
There must have been hundreds.
The Yu Clan never had enough extra spirit stones to ever purchase a Condensed Spiritual Pill, not to mention for a young girl who was only at the Contained Spirit Realm.
These especially refined pills were simply too expensive!
“Sister, where do you get all these from?” Yu Lian pointed at those spirit stones, stuttering as he spoke. “You can’t even go on the streets and rob that much!”
“Don’t worry about the stone’s legitimacy. They are all earned properly by our clan!” Yu Li couldn’t hide her excitement anymore, “These are only a fraction of what we have right now. We’ve got plenty stocked up already!”
“What?”
“How is that possible?”
The father and daughter didn’t even know how to react to this astonishing news.
“That’s all I have for tonight.”
Yu Li lightly walked toward the door, “Don’t forget to work hard, Feifei. You can use all these if you want. Yu Yuan has told us all that everyone who reached the Contained Spirit Realm can use as many of these pills as you want!”
“Yu… Yu Yuan?”
“Who else do you expect? No one else can turn the tables faster than that boy!”
…
Outside of Yu Clan’s warehouse.
Yu Can and Yu Wei slowly led some of the elders of the Yu Clan toward a large, well-secured building.
Many of those elders were all at a high age.
They knew that if they couldn’t get to the Dark Burst Realm anytime soon, they wouldn’t be able to extend their life span, making them as vulnerable to death as any other ordinary man.
Well aware that they didn’t have many hopes themselves, they longed for their grandchildren to enjoy the luxury of extended life and enter the Dark Burst Realm.
Therefore, when they learned that the Su Clan deliberately targeted the Yu Clan’s only income, they were the first to visit Yu Clan.
Not for themselves, but for their descendants.
“My good friend Can, we have known each other since the day you got your position as the leader of this clan.” A wobbly-looking elder stepped closer to Yu Can and said, “How many years has it been? Just think about it. The future of the clan is more important than anything else at this given moment. Am I wrong?”
“The Su Clan has only done so to seek their needs. After all, as a medicinal clan, they still need a constant supply of herbs!”
“Why bother fighting with them? You know the difference between the Su Clan and us.”
“For the good of all, please just listen to me. Go and apologize to Su Yin?”
Along the way, he had just been attempting to persuade Yu Can.
Until…
Until Yu Wei unlocked the large doors of the warehouse and led the elders in.
Along the hard rock floor of the warehouse, giant piles of spirit stones were stacked like mountains.
At first glance, there must be tens of thousands!
The shining reflections of the stones dazed the Yu Clan elders into their wonderful dreams.
“What, what are all these about?”
“Am I too desperate that I’m having hallucinations?”
“Spirit stones! They are all spirit stones!”
“Can! Tell me that these are all real!”
The elder, who had been talking, grabbed onto a corner of Yu Can’s clothes and looked at him eagerly.
A look of infinite hope
“It’s not your hallucinations. It’s all real.” Yu Wei stepped forward and picked one up for the elders to take a closer look. “You can check it out if you want.”
The elders cheered in joy.
In fact, Yu Wei himself thought it was a dream at first as well… until he found that it was not.
“The Yu Clan will no longer be in affiliation with the Su Clan!”
Yu Can declared loudly to all the elders in the warehouse, “Perhaps one day we might even become one of the most powerful clans just like the Su Clan right now!”
“Can, please tell me honestly, do you actually hide an alchemist in our clan?” One of the elders asked excitedly.
The rest also looked back at Yu Can in hopeful glances.
A true alchemist meant a whole world of difference for a clan like the Yu Clan.
Looking at their eyes, Yu Can slowly nodded.
Once again, insuppressible cheers erupted in the warehouse.
