Dong Ku and Liu Zhong, along with others, met before it got dark. When they met, Dong Ku and Huzi had already chosen the ambush site and surveyed the terrain.

In the mountain forest, Dong Ku looked at the excited, nervous, and anxious faces and said in a solemn voice, "You have all been harmed by the Japanese to some extent. Tomorrow is the day for you to take revenge, but there is one thing: no one is to fire a shot without orders. When firing, keep your head as low as possible. Do not stand up without orders. Remember the commands Liu Zhong and the others taught you over the past two days."

"Also, no smoking. Even if you need to urinate, do it where you are. Once you enter the ambush site, you cannot stand up without orders."

After saying this, Dong Ku's eyes swept over all the faces. He then continued, "Now, if anyone wants to back out, they can put down their gun. Everyone knows the way in the mountains. Put down your gun and you can return to Dahuishan on your own."

Dong Ku's words fell, and the hunters looked at each other, none of them speaking. Clearly, even if they were nervous, they were determined to stick it out.

"Alright, since no one is backing out, we will start distributing the bullets now..."

It was not yet dawn, and the hunters, who had not slept well all night, quickly resolved their personal issues and followed their assigned leaders to the ambush sites. A few minutes later, they wore grass rings on their heads and branches on their backs, entering their positions behind the bushes or trees, chewing on corn flour and wheat flour mixed steamed buns, and hiding themselves.

"Everyone, lie down and put your guns to the side, don't move."

Mengzi, a few meters away, shouted softly. The ten hunters he was in charge of obediently placed their guns in the grass and lowered their heads, slowly chewing on their dry rations.

Mengzi was about twenty to thirty meters away from Mengzi, also leading ten hunters. Like Mengzi, he shouted and then quietly lay down, with the machine gun lying next to him.

Liu Hai, in the direction of Mishan, led five people lying in the grass. He was responsible for cutting off the Japanese retreat, but since they did not know how many Japanese there were, Dong Ku extended the ambush line to 150 meters, waiting for accurate information from Shanzi to decide the length.

Shunzi led seven people, and Sun Tao led six people, each lying at the ends of the ambush line.

Liu Zhong and the others did not wear camouflage suits, as the use of camouflage was limited to the Tiger Tooth operation, and these hunters could not know all their secrets.

The hunters, each led by a family with a telescope, were curious but did not get up to look. They lay there nervously, watching the dark road through the grass.

Dong Ku, with Dog Egg, Liu Zhong, and Huzi, lay in ambush at a mountain bend on the way to Baoqing, each holding a crossbow, waiting to intercept the motorcycle convoy.

An hour later, the sun rose over the mountain peak, illuminating the entire land.

Sun Tao, who had not received any news from Shanzi, lay there, wearing headphones, waiting.

Shanzi, on a small hill about six to seven kilometers from Mishan, held a telescope, tightly watching the road below, not daring to relax for a moment.

As the sun rose higher, it was almost nine o'clock, but there was still no movement from Shanzi's side.

Suddenly, the sound of motorcycles reached Dong Ku and the others' ears. He made a gesture, and the few of them buried their heads in the grass, listening to the sound of the motorcycles.

A few minutes later, four motorcycles, lined up in a row, came from the direction of Baoqing, turned around the mountain foot, and headed towards Mishan.

The hunters in the forest all heard the sound and quietly looked at the road through the grass.

On the four motorcycles, each had a Type 11 light machine gun mounted on the sidecar. On the two middle motorcycles, two Japanese soldiers with telescopes were searching the surroundings. Clearly, these were the Japanese patrol soldiers.

"Don't touch your guns, lie there and don't move!"

Shunzi, staring at the road below, softly scolded. A hunter sheepishly removed his hand from his gun, wondering when Shunzi had eyes in the back of his head.

The motorcycles, under the watchful eyes of dozens of people, rumbled and bounced along, passing the ambush site and heading towards Mishan, leaving a trail of dust.

After the motorcycle convoy passed, Dong Ku raised his head and looked at Sun Tao through the telescope, wondering if the Japanese had changed their plans and were not moving today.

Muttering to himself, he felt frustrated by the lack of informants. Without informants, the operation would be limited, and the accuracy of the attack would be greatly reduced.

When would he establish an intelligence network? When the restaurant opens, he could select a few students to train, and under the protection of the restaurant, the information should come out easily.

Time slowly passed, and the sun was already overhead, it was noon.

Dong Ku looked at his watch and calculated the distance. Mishan to Baoqing was about 120 kilometers. If they were to set out, they didn't necessarily have to leave early; even in the afternoon, it would be in time. Even with the current truck speed of 50 kilometers per hour, they could reach Baoqing in three hours.

Wait a bit longer.

Dong Ku, having calculated the distance, decided not to retreat. He believed the information he heard the night before; the lieutenant with the duck voice wouldn't tell his fellow countrymen about something that didn't exist.

The hunters were initially very nervous, but as time passed, they became drowsy under the warm sunlight, lying there drowsily, forgetting their tension.

Shanzi's eyes were sore from watching, and he saw only a motorcycle convoy heading towards Mishan. He wondered, "Brother Dong said a convoy would come, why hasn't it come?" He took a sip of water, puzzled.

At that moment, the lieutenant with the duck voice was urging the loading of the trucks at the trading company. If it weren't for the milk powder that just arrived in the morning, he would have left early.

Hebeng Hu Siro, who had called him before he left, asked him to bring the newly arrived milk powder, saying that Baoqing was too harsh and the soldiers needed nourishment.

He was frustrated and even more resentful about going to Baoqing. Unfortunately, he was a lieutenant but still had to follow orders.

"Hurry up!"

He impatiently kicked a Chinese worker who was working diligently, almost causing him to drop the box in his hands.

Putting aside his agitation, the hunters waiting in the ambush site began to lose patience.

"Why hasn't there been any movement? Are the Japanese coming?"

A hunter turned to ask his companion.

"I don't know, I'm getting anxious."

The man whispered and habitually took out his tobacco pouch.

The one who spoke earlier poked him and said, "Don't smoke, didn't Commander Dong say no smoking?"

"I've been holding it all morning, I really want a smoke..."

The man, speaking, leaned close to the tobacco pouch and took a deep breath, then reluctantly put it away.

Dong Ku, lying still, did not move, his telescope never leaving Sun Tao. He believed his judgment; perhaps the Japanese would come after lunch.

Shanzi put down his telescope, rubbed his sore eyes, and stretched his neck. Just as he was about to stretch his body, he suddenly heard the sound of motorcycles.

"They're here!"

Shanzi was startled and quickly picked up his telescope, looking in the direction of the sound.

On the road, three motorcycles appeared in his field of vision. The lead motorcycle had a Type 11 light machine gun mounted on the sidecar, and the others had two people on each, with telescopes looking around.

"These are not the ones that passed earlier, there are three."

Shanzi immediately determined that these were not the motorcycles that went to Mishan earlier. This must be the advance party of the convoy that Brother Dong mentioned.

The motorcycles rumbled past about 300 meters away on the road, turned the corner, and disappeared.

Shanzi did not move, he quietly watched his watch, calculating the time it took for the motorcycles to pass.

Five minutes later, the sound of engines reached his ears.

They're really coming!

Shanzi's breath caught, and his telescope instantly locked onto the road corner.

Sure enough, within a minute, a truck appeared around the corner, followed by more trucks, raising dust as they came into view.

Shanzi's hand was already on the radio transmitter, his fingers tapping, sending out the Morse code.

The moment Sun Tao received the signal from Shanzi, he immediately locked onto it and quickly recorded it.

Dong Ku saw Sun Tao's movements, though he couldn't see what he was doing, he could see the gap in the grass where he was hiding close, indicating that he had pulled his hand back and his face had disappeared.

They're here?

Dong Ku's breathing was steady and long, quietly waiting for Sun Tao's information.

Shortly, Sun Tao's hand emerged from the grass, making continuous gestures.

Three advance motorcycles, each with a Type 11 light machine gun, the rest with long rifles, a total of eight people, five minutes ahead of the convoy.

The convoy consisted of seven trucks, the first two open-top, each with a Type 11 light machine gun on the roof, fifteen people with long rifles on each truck.

The middle three trucks were covered, and the last two were also open-top, with the same number of people, two Type 11 light machine guns, and fifteen people each.

"Less than seventy people, we can take them out!"

After seeing Sun Tao's gestures, Dong Ku waved his hand and ordered the tree to be dropped.

Liu Zhong and Dog Egg stood up and, with combined effort, pushed the nearly half-cut poplar tree, which was as thick as a bowl, to the ground. The branches rustled, and the tree fell about four to five meters from the road corner, blocking the road to Baoqing.

On the hill, Mengzi, Mengzi, and others, at the moment the tree fell, all looked at Dong Ku's position through their telescopes. Seeing Dong Ku's gesture, they all softly shouted, "Move north!"

The hunters, who were drowsy, were startled by the sudden shout, instinctively looking at the road and seeing no one, realized that it was either to leave or to gather, not that the Japanese had arrived.

They quickly followed their leaders to the north side of the mountain corner, each choosing a position with a clear view of the road, replacing the dry grass rings, and lying down again.

Liu Hai also saw Dong Ku's gesture and ran with five people towards Dong Ku's direction. Estimating the distance, he stopped and started digging a pit...
