Miya Samuel here.
After watching Theo-kun fall asleep, I was invited by a friend to a quiet bar.
“I’m sorry to ask you out at this time. I know you’re supposed to be watching over Theo-kun.”
The person who invited me to the bar and apologized to me was my friend, Sadie Isotonic.
She was very beautiful, with pale blond hair tied up in a loose bun at the nape of her neck.
26 years old, the same age as me, and we share the same profession as a musketeer. Unfortunately, she had gotten married before me, but that didn’t stop us from being friends.
“You don’t have to worry about it. I’m not overprotective of Theo-kun anymore.”
“Is that really the case?”
“That’s right. Theo-kun is doing quite well with his recovery. I don’t have to watch over him all the time anymore, that’s why I was able to accept your invitation.”
Well, even if we’re in the bar, I couldn’t drink a single drop of alcohol.
I don’t have to watch over him all the time anymore, which is why I was able to accept Sadie’s invitation after all these years.
I don’t drink a drop of alcohol when I come to the bar.
“I’m glad to hear that Theo-kun is well, and that he doesn’t seem to resent Miya at all for what happened. He’s kind, isn’t he?”
“But that kid is too kind… he’s too involved with me. Normally, I’m the kind of person that Theo-kun should resent. And yet, he told me he was proud of protecting me…”
“Isn’t it because Theo-kun likes you, Miya?”
With a sigh, I told Sadie who’s having fun teasing me.
“Actually… when I asked him why he protected me… he said he did it because I was important to him. ”
“Hi~yah… is that so? How did you reply then?”
“I told him that he should reconsider based on public opinion.”
“Ehhh, why did you say that? Miya likes Theo-kun too, right?”
“Well, of course…”
Even though I wasn’t drinking, I could feel my cheeks flush with embarrassment.
“Fu-fu, you’re easy to read Miya.” “Sh-shut up…”
“It’s alright, you don’t have to be so stubborn.”
“I’m not trying to be stubborn.”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying. ……
“It’s okay, you don’t have to be so stubborn.
“I’m not particularly stubborn…”
“Speaking of which, how long have you been in love with Theo-kun, Miya? It did not start with this incident where you were protected, is it?”
“It started…. a long time ago.
I suddenly remembered when Theo-kun used to be shorter than me.
“Ever since you were his instructor?”
“He was the hardest worker in my class. He stayed late after school every day. There were kids of all ages but he was the youngest.”
“Even though he’s an abomination with superhuman strength, he’s still studying diligently? Was that’s the reason he completed the training school course in just one year and became the youngest person ( at the age of 14) to ever reach the <<Seventh Wing>>?”
“Yeah. …… So, when I asked why he was diligently working hard late every day. And did you know what he said?”
“Hn… I don’t know. …… Don’t keep me waiting and tell it already.”
“Theo-kun said… that the reason he’s working so hard is to annihilate the demons.”
“Isn’t that a normal goal… for kids at that age?
“Maybe. …… But Theo-kun went on and said, ‘If I can annihilate demons, then people like us will never be born again and more people will be saved’.
“I see.”
Sadie was surprised to hear that.
“Theo-kun… he wasn’t dreaming like a normal child. He was thinking of ways to solve the problems surrounding the abomination. He was just 10 years old you know?”
“Ehh. A ten year old? I am surprised.”
When I was 10 years old, I was still playing normally. But Theo-kun was different.
At the age of ten, Theo-kun already had a clear purpose in life, and that’s why she came to the training school.
He wanted to destroy demons for the sake of the abominations.
He didn’t speak in a childishly optimistic way, but in a calm and collected way. I thought he was smart and bold.
I’m sure Theo knew exactly how difficult it was to destroy the demons, but he still wanted to do it.
I was shocked by the gap between his small body and mature way of thinking so much that it made me fall in love with him.
“Fu-fu Theo-kun, what a sinful child you are.”
Sadie smiled and took a sip of her cocktail.
“So, did you reject Theo-kun’s feelings?”
“Naturally. It’s because I’m the one who ruined Theo-kun’s life.”
Theo-kun is on his way to a successful recovery, but that didn’t guarantee he could get back on track. I made him that way. …… How am I supposed to accept his feelings?
“I don’t deserve to love him and receive his feelings.”
“You can’t think like that. You are free to do as you please.”
“Feel free to do whatever I want? I can’t accept Theo-kun’s feelings because I can’t allow myself.”
“But …… Miya has only eyes for Theo-kun all these years, right? Why only watch over him? That’s why I haven’t heard a single thing about your love relationships… Can’t you just accept his feelings?”
“As long as I can watch over him and help, I’ll be fine. It’s my way of making amends.”
I love Theo-kun, but that’s the reason that I don’t have that qualification to love him. After all I’ve done to him.
“I know it’s a little early, but I’ll just make my way home.”
“Y-yes, I understand. …… Miya, please don’t be too hard on yourself, okay?”
After nodding my head, I decided to go back to my beloved child.
To my glass prince whom I’m not allowed to touch.
