Chapter 5 of 10

Chapter 5

I woke up to the direct sunlight seeping through the gaps in the armor door.

Not only sunlight, but the sea breeze is also terrible.

This shack is full of gaps.

When the wind blows a little stronger, it makes a whistling sound, like a flute.

It’s almost a symphony of sorrow.

To be honest, I didn’t sleep well last night.

I was worried about dangerous creatures and couldn’t fall asleep.

The door of this shack doesn’t even have a lock.

Seddie Dantes: Level 1

Owned Points: 9

Happiness: 76%

Island Level: 1

My happiness was at 76%, and my owned points had recovered to 9.

Unfortunately, it didn’t reach 100%, but that makes sense.

Dinner was just well water and the baked goods Mary gave me, the bed was rough, and the fear of being attacked by dangerous creatures made it hard to sleep.

Rather, I wanted to praise my mental strength for maintaining a 76% happiness level in this state.

However, at the bottom of the baked goods Mary gave me, there was a small 5000-crown silver coin.

Mary must have put it there.

Even though Mary doesn’t have much to spare, she must have worried about me and went out of her way to help.

Thinking about it made my chest hurt, but it also warmed my heart.

The recovery of my happiness is entirely thanks to Mary.

Points recover as follows: 2 points when happiness is 75% or higher, 4 points at 80% or higher, 6 points at 85% or higher, 8 points at 90% or higher, and 10 points at 95% or higher.

Conversely, if it’s below 70%, points decrease, so I need to be careful.

At the beginning, it’s important to use points to establish a foundation for life.

The cumulative points can now reach up to 20.

The maximum cumulative points increase as the level goes up.

While checking my status again, I heard a voice calling me from outside.

“Seddie, are you there? If you are, respond!”

That voice is my childhood friend, Eugenie!

Eugenie is the third daughter of the Simpson family, which borders the Dantes family’s territory, and has been my childhood playmate.

She has a bit of a competitive personality, but since we are the same age and get along well, she is a good friend.

“Eugenie, you came to visit! Thanks!”

I rushed out of the shack, and Eugenie, riding a griffin, was smiling.

It’s been about two weeks since we last met.

“You look good, both you and Gian.”

I gently stroked the neck of the griffin, Gian.

A griffin is a creature that combines an eagle and a lion.

Eugenie received Gian as a gift on her fifth birthday and has been inseparable since.

Griffins can fly and are powerful enough to keep ordinary monsters at bay.

Thanks to this, Eugenie can go anywhere on her own.

To be honest, I’m quite envious.

“When I went to visit the mansion, they said you became the lord of this place. I was surprised.”

“I was planning to write a letter once things settled down.”

Actually, I wanted to develop the island a bit more before inviting anyone.

It’s embarrassing to have nothing here.

But I’m really happy that Eugenie came.

“Hmm, so Seddie is living here...”

Eugenie looked at my shack curiously.

“It’s like this for now, but I plan to renovate it soon.”

I felt embarrassed by the dilapidated shack and ended up making excuses.

No, it’s not an excuse.

I really do plan to renovate it.

But it’s strange.

In the game, I should have been able to use points to upgrade the shack, but for some reason, I couldn’t.

What’s different?

I looked at my shack again.

Suddenly, the status screen opened.

Shack upgrade is now possible!

Condition: A close friend you trust visits.

You can upgrade ‘Old Shack’ to ‘Small Cottage’.

Required Points: 5

The lock was removed because my good friend Eugenie came to visit!

I vaguely remembered.

In Island Tsukur, various conditions are unlocked through encounters and interactions with people.

The thought of living in a slightly better house made me want to dance with joy.

“What’s wrong, Seddie? Why are you smiling like that? Are you that happy I came to visit?”

“I’m extremely happy. I can’t thank you enough!”

I held Eugenie’s hand with both of mine and shook it vigorously.

“S-Silly. Why are you doing such an embarrassing thing...”

Eugenie’s cheeks turned red, and she looked flustered.

“Eugenie, as a thank you, do you want to see something amazing?”

“Amazing? What is it?”

“It’s my new magic.”

“Oh, so you’ve learned something other than Fireball?”

“It’s not exactly an attack spell. Just watch.”

I placed my hand on the glowing part of the old shack.

Then, I chanted the point allocation.

Just like when I fixed the well, five small orbs of light, about the size of marbles, flew from me to the old shack.

The orbs of light hit the old shack and shone brightly again.

This time, it was more intense due to the higher number of points.

When the light subsided, the old shack had transformed into a small cottage.

The walls were a bright brown, and the roof was a deep green.

The house, made of stacked logs, seemed much more windproof compared to the old shack.

“What do you think? Isn’t it amazing?”

“...”

Eugenie was so surprised she couldn’t even speak, her mouth opening and closing.

Gian, the griffin, was also stunned, its mouth agape.

“W-What’s going on?! Is this magic?!”

“It’s a bit different, but similar. It’s a skill that can only be used on this island.”

“Even so, it’s incredible! I’ve never seen a spell that can create a house.”

“It’s not just houses. On this island, I can also build facilities and level up plants and animals. Anyway, let’s go inside the new house.”

Until now, it was just a dilapidated house with no proper furniture. How is this one? Is it a bit more livable?

I invited the still excited Eugenie into the cottage.
