After the entrance ceremony, I had to go and check my class. I met Tütte, who was waiting outside the venue, and we went to see which class I was in, taking Sacha with us. The location was easy to find because there was an unusual crowd gathered there.
"Is the class list posted there?"
"???"
I imagined a heroine from an anime looking at a large class list in the hallway, but it seemed that such a large paper did not exist in this world. Instead, an official held the class list and would answer verbally when asked.
"Then, I'll go and ask."
Tütte bowed and walked towards the official.
"Hey, while you're at it, can you check mine too?"
Sacha, who was standing next to me, casually asked Tütte, and I frowned.
"Hey... don't use Tütte to take advantage of the confusion."
"It's fine, it doesn't cost anything."
"It does cost something, my friendship with you..."
"Friendship points! That's not good... I'll be more careful from now on."
When I narrowed my eyes and moved a little away from him, Sacha bowed, and I forgave him.
"Miss, I found out your class."
As we were having this conversation, Tütte came back, apparently having asked the official.
"So, which class are you in?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
When I said this as if it were obvious, Tütte responded with a question mark.
(Huh? They don't use terms like 'class' here?)
To break the slightly awkward silence, I cleared my throat and started over.
"So, what class are you in?"
"Oh, right... 'Solos.'"
When Tütte casually said this, it was my turn to be confused.
(Oh no! I assumed the school system would be the same as in my previous life and didn't pay attention...)
"Hmm, Solos... That's surprising. I thought Magilka would be in 'Areyos.'"
When Sacha said this, I was even more confused.
(No good, I can't be left behind... Better to be embarrassed now than forever.)
"Um... What do you mean by Solos and Areyos?"
I forced a strained smile and tilted my head.
"Huh? Oh, to put it simply, Solos is a class that focuses on martial arts, Areyos focuses on magic, and Larayos focuses on academics."
Tütte immediately understood my question and answered.
"Hmm, so it's like the difference between liberal arts and sciences, or sports and culture?"
"???"
We still couldn't understand each other.
(I need to learn, I really do!)
"By the way, Sacha is also in Solos."
To change the subject from my awkwardness, Tütte said this.
"Well, it's only natural since he's from the Eleksil family."
"Do you mean the class is decided by family background?"
At my casual question, Sacha looked surprised.
"No, no, no. We take physical and practical tests during the entrance exam, and they decide based on that."
When Sacha answered, I was shocked, and cold sweat trickled down my back.
(Oh no, I didn't take the entrance exam, so I don't know about this... But I can't say that, can I?)
"R-right... I see."
I laughed and turned my face away from their gazes.
"What's wrong, Mary-sama? Ah, I see."
"What, what is it?"
Sacha, with a smug look, looked at me, and I was worried that my backdoor admission had been exposed.
"You must have gone all out in the martial arts practical test! You probably sent your opponent flying, just like I did, which is why you're in Solos! Really, that's not ladylike at all."
"I would never do that!"
While inwardly relieved by Sacha's off-the-mark deduction, I couldn't help but correct his extremely impolite words.
(But why am I in Solos if I didn't take the exam? Ah, maybe because my father is a marshal and has a lot of heroic tales from his youth, so they put his daughter in Solos?)
"Well, well... that means Magilka, who is good at magic, is in Areyos, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
In the midst of our unproductive conversation, Tütte tried to change the topic, and someone else joined in. We were all surprised and looked in the direction of the voice, and a young lady with long, wavy hair approached us.
"Really! So... Magilka... we're in different classes..."
I felt a bit down. Honestly, I was planning to rely on Magilka to get through school life without Tütte, even though I knew it wasn't a good idea. But more than anything, it was sad to be in a different class from my closest female friend.
"What, what are you saying? It's not like we're never going to see each other again... We can meet anytime! I'll come and see you during my free time."
Seeing my very sad face, Magilka tried to comfort me.
"Besides, classes can be changed every year. If you want, you can be in the same class as me."
"Hmm... really?"
(Friends are great... but why is she blushing?)
I savored the friendship and decided to forget the details.
"So, what about the prince?"
"Cough... The prince is going to Larayos at his request. He wants to study politics, economics, and history."
Magilka accurately answered Sacha's vague question, and Sacha nodded in understanding.
(As expected, Magilka... I wouldn't have understood what he was asking at all.)
While re-recognizing how smart she is, I was also surprised by the prince's unexpected request. I had imagined he would go to the martial arts class since he was learning sword skills.
"You're in a different class from Reiforce-sama too."
"What, are you sad about it?"
Despite my warning, Sacha came over with a lecherous grin, trying to tease me. I gave him an elbow in the ribs to shut him up.
"Anyway, we'll meet again tomorrow in the common room, so let's go home for today."
Magilka suggested ending the meeting with a weary expression, and I decided to go home, leaving the crouching man behind.
