Chapter 72

"School Festival?"

The four of them harmonized beautifully in response to my words. I told them about the 'Cultural Festival' from my memories of my previous life. However, since I had never actually participated in one, my explanation was quite vague, based entirely on knowledge and imagination.

"Um, so it means that the students hold a festival on their own, right?"

Prince, who somehow managed to understand my vague explanation, asked me.

"Yes, all the students will participate, so there shouldn't be any shortage of people for preparation and during the event. This should solve the problem of insufficient personnel. Additionally, since all the students will participate, their families and acquaintances are expected to visit on the day, so the number of visitors should easily exceed last year's."

The four of them nodded in agreement after hearing my explanation.

"But what about the martial arts competition?"

"Of course, the martial arts competition, which is a highlight for new students, will still take place. However, it will be organized by the upperclassmen of Solos."

I answered Zaha's simple question without hesitation.

"Since everyone has experienced it at least once, they should have a general idea of how to proceed and can improve on the parts that were inconvenient for them. They would be the right people for the job."

Saffina explained the practicality to everyone, as if agreeing with my words.

"Also, during the school festival, the remaining Solos students can help with security, patrols, and heavy work during the preparation."

"Most of them are aiming to be knights, so they would be eager to take on security roles. There are also some who are good at heavy work for venue preparation."

Saffina's words sparked the conversation, and Magilka continued, with Zaha adding more details. The discussion was flowing well, and I was quite pleased.

"The financial aspects, such as the budget and operational costs, can be handled by the students in Laraios who are aiming for administrative roles."

"That's right, Your Highness. If the students receive guidance from the teachers who were in charge last year, it should be manageable."

Prince joined the conversation, and Magilka started preparing to make the process smoother, taking notes.

"So, what will the remaining students who are not part of the organizing committee do?"

"Vaguely speaking, they could provide some kind of performance or event. For example, Alerios students could showcase magic or present their magic research, while Laraios students could run stalls or present academic research, showing the results of their daily studies to everyone."

"I see... For now, let's have everyone discuss and decide, and once they have a decision, they can submit an application to us."

I answered Prince's question, and Magilka added more details.

(They all have quick minds, which is a great help. The conversation is moving along smoothly just because I provided the initial idea.)

"Sure, we can finalize the broad outline and submit it to the principal."

"Then I'll prepare a draft of the submission document."

Prince's words prompted Magilka to stand up and prepare the submission document. After getting the necessary papers, she returned to her seat, and the meeting resumed.

(I'm surprised that no one has raised any objections. It's making me a bit uneasy. Is everything going to be okay?)

I held back my inner unease and observed from a distance. Saffina, who also had no specific role, seemed restless, looking around as if trying to find something to do.

"Saffina, let's go have some tea over there. Our turn will come a bit later."

"Yes, Miss Mary."

I invited Saffina to another table and asked Tütte to prepare some new tea.

"Um, Saffina, how many students are currently in Solos? How many of them seem capable?"

Just as we were about to move, Zaha raised his head and called out to us.

"Um, well..."

Saffina stopped, looking back and forth between me and Zaha, unsure of what to say.

"Help Zaha. Actually, that guy seems incapable of managing things, so assist him."

"Yes."

I sighed and looked at Zaha, encouraging Saffina to go to him. She joined the meeting with a happy expression.

(What? Wait a minute, am I being left out?)

I realized this and started to feel anxious, sitting alone.

(No, no, no, I shouldn't stand out. If I get too involved, I might mess things up again. I need to be patient, Mary.)

I suppressed my slight unease and tried to appear calm while drinking tea. However, my cup was shaking so much that Tütte silently took it away.

The next day, I waited with Saffina and Zaha while Prince and Magilka went to submit the document to the principal and explain the plan. However, the two of them were discussing the upcoming events, and I was effectively left out.

(I can't take it anymore. What is this feeling? It's not that I feel guilty for not doing any work, nor that I feel lucky for having it easy. I just want to join in and be part of the group.)

I watched the window, feeling restless.

(No, Mary! This is a trap. If I join now, it will be too late to back out. If I lead the effort to blend in, it will be meaningless.)

I glanced at the two of them out of the corner of my eye while looking out the window.

(But... but...)

Seeing my friends focused on their tasks, the urge to join them grew stronger. However, it felt too late to say, "Let me join in!" Now, my only option was to be called in by someone. If I wasn't careful, I would stand up and hover around them like a bear, and Tütte would have to hold me back.

Eventually, Prince and Magilka returned, and the school festival plan was adopted. I became even more anxious as the four of them grew more enthusiastic.

"Let's add the fine details and finalize the plan."

Magilka, who had taken her seat, held up a piece of paper and looked at me.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Miss Mary. We will create a concrete plan, so please assist us again!"

Without giving me a choice, Magilka hugged me tightly.

"Oh, fine, fine! I'll help, yes, I'll help!"

"Why are you hugging me!"

I responded with a full smile, while Magilka blushed and looked flustered. Tütte, who seemed to be saying, "Oh dear," entered my field of vision, but I ignored her.

(Because I wanted to join in! I don't want to be left out!)

And so, I plunged myself into a major event that would change history.
