In the evening, with fewer vehicles on the road, Wang Haiming felt reassured and sped up, but he didn't dare to ride too fast. Once out of the city limits, there were no streetlights, but it didn't hinder him. Wang Haiming noticed that his eyesight had improved. Previously, due to studying and his love for reading novels, Wang Haiming had severe myopia. He never expected that his eyesight would now be so good that he could see quite far even at night.
"Good, it's not too late, 8:30." Seeing that his mother had already prepared dinner and was constantly looking around, Wang Haiming felt a warm feeling in his heart. Only family would care about him so much.
After a simple dinner and a chat with his mother about daily matters, Wang Haiming decided to go back to his room.
"Hey, where did all this mud come from?" Seeing patches of wet mud on the ground, making it very dirty, Wang Haiming felt a bit angry. These people were not doing their job responsibly.
Soon, Wang Haiming realized he had wronged the construction workers. The culprit was the little brown bear, which was sleeping soundly in its den. After helping with the work in the afternoon, the little brown bear had a big meal of fish and then happily returned to its den to sleep, without caring about the mud on its body. If it were in the wild or at a zoo, Wang Haiming might not have minded, but this was his home, and he needed to maintain cleanliness.
"Hey, wake up." If it were anyone else, they wouldn't dare to wake a sleeping brown bear, but Wang Haiming wasn't afraid.
"Roar," feeling someone disturbing its sleep, the little brown bear immediately became angry, growling and raising its massive paw to strike. However, upon seeing Wang Haiming, it immediately stopped and became docile. Wang Haiming didn't care about this and pulled the glutton out to prepare for a bath, even finding a bar of laundry soap for a thorough cleaning.
At first, the little brown bear didn't cooperate, but after a serious warning, it obediently took a bath. After cleaning up all the mud in the yard, Wang Haiming returned to his bedroom.
"Oh, how could I forget about this." Remembering that the saplings Wang Yu had delivered in the morning were still at the front door, Wang Haiming felt a bit uneasy and quickly brought them inside, then entered the jade pendant space. Seeing the slightly withered saplings, Wang Haiming was speechless. The village children not only didn't help but also caused trouble. Seeing the adults planting fruit trees, they imitated them, taking some saplings to plant by the river. However, children's enthusiasm lasted only a few minutes, and they soon got bored, leaving the saplings to play elsewhere.
"Xiao Jin, let's get to work." With free labor, Wang Haiming naturally wouldn't do the work himself. Besides, Xiao Jin was incredibly smart. After a few days of observation, Xiao Jin could understand words and had the intelligence of a child. Xiao Jin's sharp claws dug holes quickly and precisely, making Wang Haiming very pleased.
Seeing that over thirty holes had been dug on the hillside, Wang Haiming didn't hesitate and quickly planted the saplings. Although the saplings were small and withered, they were still alive, and Wang Haiming was confident that they would grow well and faster than those outside.
Looking around, the situation was still the same. Apart from the newly planted fruit trees and some vegetables, everything else was barren. Wang Haiming thought about whether he should plant something else. Planting only vegetables and fruits, though quick to show results, seemed a bit wasteful. He needed to find something better to plant to make the most of the space.
Because he had an appointment with the man with glasses, Wang Haiming got up early, ate a quick breakfast, and headed to the fish pond. However, a little follower, the little brown bear, appeared behind him. Wang Haiming didn't mind; he let it follow. Chu Xiong, who was very enthusiastic about his old classmate's project, arrived with an excavator before 8:00.
After a brief greeting, Chu Xiong continued the work from the previous day. At 8:00, the sound of a roaring engine and a honking horn was heard.
The efficiency was impressive. Wang Haiming arrived at the gate and saw a Volkswagen Santana sedan driving up. The person who arrived was a young man in his twenties named Gao Shan, a capable assistant to the man with glasses. Although Gao Shan was young, he had been in the business for seven or eight years and was very experienced. He took precise measurements according to Wang Haiming's requirements and prepared to return to discuss the best plan with his boss. Soon, Gao Shan hurriedly left.
After demonstrating, Wang Haiming instructed the little brown bear to continue working. The little brown bear happily growled and ran off to continue catching fish and picking clams.
"Little one, you must have kept a lot of wild fish for yourself yesterday." Seeing the little brown bear start eating a large carp before even beginning work, Wang Haiming scolded it harshly. However, the bear ignored him, and Wang Haiming sighed and walked to the back mountain. It had been about ten days since he planted the fruit trees, and although he was confident, he decided to check on them personally.
Each sapling was growing well, and the transplanted large fruit trees showed no signs of withering. With the arrival of spring, new green buds sprouted, presenting a vibrant scene.
Branches easily fall, but tender buds carefully open.
Seeing that there were no major issues, Wang Haiming went down the mountain. Although the early spring scenery was very appealing, with many tasks at hand, he had to return and wait until next year to fully appreciate the unforgettable view.
It was another Saturday, and by noon, Wang Liang and Wang Xiaoya had returned from school. Especially Wang Xiaoya, who ran around the house, chattering and exclaiming in surprise.
"Brother, how can you make such a cute little bear work and get so dirty? You're abusing animals." Wang Haiming was speechless. Although the little brown bear was still a juvenile, it stood nearly 1.5 meters tall and was very muscular. Three Wang Xiaoyas would barely match its waist circumference, and it weighed over 300 pounds. It was hard to imagine such a bear as "cute."
"It's just a glutton. If it doesn't work, it will eat me poor." Although the little girl wanted to hug the bear she thought was cute, she gave up the idea when she saw the mud on its body. In comparison, Wang Liang was more sensible, following his brother and doing what he could.
Wang Jian's project was also going smoothly. After gathering the necessary materials like fine sand, cement, and gravel, Wang Jian called his workers to start. Of course, setting off firecrackers was a must for good luck.
In ancient times, before starting construction, there would be rituals like ancestral worship, but now it was much simpler. After the loud firecrackers, work could begin.
"I'm here, I'm here." Wang Xiaoya ran over with a long string of firecrackers and set them off noisily.
"She has no sense of propriety or fear for a girl," Wang Haiming thought, feeling helpless.
According to Wang Haiming's requirements, the road width couldn't be too wide, as it would take up too much of the reservoir area, nor could it be too narrow; it had to be wide enough for a truck to pass for the convenience of fruit picking and transportation.
Driving piles, placing stones, digging the foundation... Wang Haiming didn't understand these tasks and couldn't help much, so he just watched the progress of the excavator. Chu Xiong, a skilled worker with years of experience, completed all the requirements as planned. After two days of effort, the project was nearing completion.
In the afternoon, Gao Shan returned, but this time in a small truck with all the necessary tools and materials. "Brother Haiming, the road conditions here are really bad. This morning, the Santana's undercarriage was damaged, and I got scolded by my boss. You guys should really fix the road."
Gao Shan complained, but he didn't stop working. "Well, fixing the road isn't just my responsibility. I can't do it alone." Wang Haiming was frustrated. He had no one to complain to, and Li Yihong was so stingy that getting him to fix the road would be impossible.
Since the reservoir was almost drained, Gao Shan's work went smoothly. Seeing that there was nothing left for him to do, Wang Haiming called his brother and sister back to the house.
"Brother, where did you buy such a big watermelon? Oh, and these tomatoes are so pretty, and this eggplant is so big..." The little girl screamed as soon as she entered the house. "I don't want to eat it," she said, but her hands were quick, and in no time, the large watermelon was cut into even slices, and she was holding the biggest piece, eating it.
"Always shouting and acting like a little glutton, with no sense of propriety for a girl." Her mother's scolding only made her slightly more restrained, but she didn't change her behavior.
"Liange, Xiaoya, these two bottles of water are high-tech nanotechnology water. They can improve health and beauty." Before Wang Haiming could finish, he felt his hands empty, and the two bottles were gone. Wang Xiaoya, in particular, was holding a water bottle in one hand while eating the watermelon with the other.
"Brother, your water is so good. It's better than any drink. Do you have more?"
