Chapter 18

Jian Ci had finally stuffed himself.

Even if it was two people eating, there was still too much food. It was to the extent that while trying on the suit that Zhou Bai had brought over, Jian Ci had to try his best to suck in, so that the slightly protruding tummy would not seem too obvious.

Zhou Bai furrowed his eyebrows, “I told you to eat less!”

Jian Ci smoothened his shirt, buttoned up the suit, and smiled while trying to please him, “Does this look better?”

“Mm.” It’s still fine, at least it looked better than before, Zhou Bai thought.

“This suit is really nice. It must be really expensive?”

“It’s worthless,” Zhou Bai said, unsatisfied. “Use this for the ID photo taking first, there will be a custom made one for the wedding next time. But don’t expect too much, this marriage would not be prepared extravagantly.”

“Oh, okay,” Jian Ci heaved a sigh of relief. If it were to be done extravagantly, he would feel out of place.

Zhou Bai looked at him and asked, “If I did not bring a suit over, what did you plan on wearing?”

Jian Ci took out two sets of suits from the wardrobe, “I have already given it a thought, and these two suits can still be worn. I bought this when I was going to accept the job offer, and this was bought during my internship at Bai Sheng. Which one do you think looks better?”

“I feel that it’s better if you quickly threw them away.”

Zhou Bai was deadpan. They were inferior brands of poor workmanship; the inner neckline of one had threads sticking out, and the other one was as crumpled as a preserved vegetable. How dare he wear those to retrieve their marriage certificate!

Sensing that things were not quite right, Jian Ci hung the suits back into the wardrobe on the double. “That’s why, you’re the more thoughtful one. Thank you,” Jian Ci said as he straightened the suit he was wearing.

“I knew I couldn’t rely on you,” Zhou Bai coldly dismissed him.

Jian Ci was a little tickled.

After getting along for some periods of time, Jian Ci realized that this person was in fact, pretty easy-going. He would listen to what Jian Ci had to say and not dismiss him; even if he disagreed with Jian Ci, he would not squabble on.

Although this marriage was an agreement made on a whim, Zhou Bai did not go through it in a perfunctory manner. What needed to be prepared and scheduled, he would plan them out thoroughly beforehand. As a amateur, all Jian Ci had to do was to follow his lead. There was almost no pressure at all.

Thinking about it, Jian Ci felt that he should not worry about “the great ominous day” anymore. Since he chose this path, he should show his sincerity as well by getting married to this person without hiccups.
