Compared to Zhou Bai’s previous two weddings, this was considerably “simple”; no bed of roses, no luxurious cruise ships, no best man nor bridesmaid, and only close friends and family members were invited. The ceremony simply went through with the formalities and ended after Zhou Bai led Jian Ci to greet everyone.
Jian Ci found this pretty good, there was no stress and it was easy to coordinate. All he had to do was to nod and smile.
During the latter half of the ceremony, Zhou Bai noticed that Jian Ci’s face was turning numb from smiling. “Go get something to eat,” Zhou bai said while pulling him to the side.
Jian Ci was puzzled. “What happened?”
Handing him a glass of juice, Zhou Bai murmured, “Just how hungry are you? Look at you! Staring at the plate of beef the guests are holding when we talk.”
“How did you know I was staring at the beef?”
“…”
Jian Ci chuckled, “Do I look a little better today? It’s not too embarrassing right?”
Zhou Bai ignored him and changed the topic, “I’ll head over and greet the guests. Don’t wander around, and don’t drink any alcohol, do you hear me!”
“Ah wait,” Jian Ci put down his glass of juice to adjust Zhou Bai’s tie, before giving him a thumbs up. “You are really good-looking today, the perfect appearance of a male god1.”
“…” The pursed lip on Zhou Bai’s face was subtle. Because of what Jian Ci said, Zhou Bai’s mood was lifted. But he remained cold and aloof, “You don’t have to say it.”
He felt that Jian Ci did not follow what he had been told to recently, as if the latter enjoyed flirting with him every now and then.
It was the same the previous time; when Zhou Bai went on a business trip, Jian Ci would often send a “Good Morning” post on his Moments2, attached with a picture of his breakfast – such as chinese pancakes, pot covered noodles, soft bean curd, pan-fried dumplings – and it was obviously a reminder for Zhou Bai to have his breakfast too. Going through such means to beat around the bush to flirt, how timid.
For the sake of praising his flirtatious efforts, Zhou Bai would always “like” his posts.
“Alright go and eat, I’ll be heading there now.”
“Mm, go on,” Jian Ci nodded his head, instantly focusing his attention on the juice and food.
Zhou Bai was perturbed. It always ended like this, and the flirting never continued. Did he not know that “persistence is the key?”
