Jian Ci’s parents died from a car accident; the coach bus flipped and rolled down the mountain, and only a few survived.
The accident had escalated into a serious case, and the local government gave orders for a thorough investigation. The person-in-charge in the travel agency had a bad break, a few officials were subjected to disciplinary actions, and insurance companies made payouts where necessary. But regardless of how much was done, those people would never return.
The relative that Jian Ci was closest to used to be his uncle. They were initially on good terms; during festive seasons when he called, his uncle would show concern by asking about his well-being. But after Jian Ci was duped by his ex-boyfriend, he approached his uncle for money at his wit’s end, but his uncle refused, and he had cut off their connection since then.
On the day before his wedding, Jian Ci phoned his uncle, but the line was cut off. Perhaps he was looked down on for marrying a man; perhaps his uncle did not want to give him gift money for the wedding; or perhaps his uncle had already disowned this nephew of his. Jian Ci did not know why.
But Jian Ci knew that no one was obligated to be nice to him. Whether someone cared for him, or gave up on him, it was their freedom of choice. He had no right to claim anything from anybody.
Thus, Zhou Bai’s appearance was a surprise to him, leaving him perplexed.
All this man wanted was a wedding, but what he gave was even more than a mere wedding.
It was so much that it left Jian Ci at a loss.
Filling up the form, Jian Ci signed his name at the end as a family member, and a sense of responsibility gushed over him.
No matter what happens in the future, they are now tied together.
Supporting each other, not distinguishing between you and me.
And it’s pretty good like that.
A smile crawled onto Jian Ci’s face, and without a burden in his heart, he whipped out Zhou Bai’s credit card and handed it to the staff behind the cashier. “Use this card,” he said.
