A shout suddenly came from behind him, “Officer, it’s him! He is suspected of illegal fund-raisung and fraud! I am one of his victims, and I can provide the relevant evidence!”
Hm?
Zhou Bai turned back and watched Ren Xu, who was in high-spirits just moments ago, being subdued and handcuffed by a few police officers.
Jian Ci was at the side, arrogantly saying, “You still have the guts to come back and look for me, you really treat me as a fool! Let’s see where you can run to now! And my house! Return me my money!”
Zhou Bai paused for a while, before letting out a laugh.
He couldn’t tell that this wife of his loved to hold grudges.
Not bad, pretty courageous.
On the other end, Jian Ci had brought Ren Xu to justice, and he was feeling extremely satisfied.
He knew that if he told Zhou Bai about his plans, Zhou Bai would not simply sit by and watch; but this was his own misdemeanor, and he wanted to end it on his own. Zhou Bai helped him a great deal when it came to settling his debts, and he should hand over this scum who “dared to act but did not have the guts to take responsibility” to the police himself.
Ironically enough, Ren Xu had returned to really admit his wrongdoings, and beg Jian Ci to reconcile with him.
Out of prudence, he tested the waters by speaking to Jian Ci on the phone. After having a long conversation where he sincerely admitted his mistakes and explained his situation to Jian Ci, the boy had indeed been led on. He thought that by adding some sweet talking to their “pledge of love” from before, he would be able to successfully deceive Jian Ci. After all, his impression of Jian Ci was a soft-hearted person who cherished old relationships, so Jian Ci would definitely not be indifferent towards him. Besides, he was here to give Jian Ci money to gain his favour, not to collect debts.
It’s just that, he came begging for reconciliation despite knowing that Jian Ci was already married to Bai Sheng’s Zhou-zong, and only he himself knew what despicable thoughts he had in his mind. Perhaps he merely wanted to live off him; perhaps he wanted Jian Ci to pull some strings for him to start a business. If he was just a little more greedy, he would probably convince Jian Ci to work together, to get a piece of Bai Sheng onto his plate.
It’s unfortunate that he was overconfident. Before he could start his sweet talking, he had already landed in the hands of the police officer.
Because in Jian Ci’s eyes, he was nothing but a “big fat liar” who deceived people.
